Axeice from the previous season
17 is typically seen as pretty bad, for almost 2 years now. They’ve thrown him a couple bones with tiny buffs here and there, but overall a lot of people feel the character would almost need a re-work in design to move out of bottom 5. He’s among the least picked characters, up there with Krillin and Ginyu.
And why is he bad?
-Terrible normals
-Rekka has large gaps
-Below average meter gain
-Terrible 2H
-214S is practically useless outside of some combos
-Average damage
-Mediocre level 3
-Decent A assist but pretty situational, two other assists are kinda ass
Those are the big ones. His normals are one of the biggest problems tho. Case in point:

Yuck…
Agreed. It’s sad, his playstyle seems so dope on paper and perfect for this game. But his tools suck.
I’ve started learning some Teen Gohan to play instead of 17. Still I’m having a serious problem, I can’t find a second position character that fits in between Teen Gohan and Trunks. There just don’t seem to be characters I like, I like 21, 17, both Gohans and maybe Base/Blue Goku, but the goku idle stance pisses me off. Also some interest in Gogeta maybe.
Can’t let something like idle stances prevent you from making your team. 17 is going to take the most work out of the characters you mention but if you and him click I’d say go for it. Easist mode would probably be putting A Gohan on your team.
I’m going for a single Gohan, it’s either going to be adult or teen, still haven’t decided which.
And Goku’s idle stance is just goddamn awful.
I don’t think I’ve ever once heard that one before. Looks like your typical Goku fighting stance. I fail to see the issue. Even if it actually looked bad, I would fail to see how that matters.
Anyway, A Gohan and Baseku ain’t a bad shell. You could pretty much put anyone mid there. 21 A and 17 A would be solid.
I think I’ve settled on Teen Gohan (A) 21 (B) Trunks (B)
Edit: maybe A21 assist A over B, seems to make comboes easier
Only complaint I have is it looks like we’re not getting Grind Kamemeha as a move anywhere. So last hope is it atleast gets a dramatic finish vs. Kefla.
Yes that!
Scans have been out for a couple weeks I think. Screenshots of the dramatic finish look cool
@Evil_Canadian do you happen to have a video that explains how Sparking Blast works for combos? I know it allows you to jump cancel any normal, it gives you vanish without followup option, extra damage and regen, but I am more trying to understand how it affects hitstun, hitstun decay and combo structure so I can figure out some sparking combos on my own.
Lol, Roofle doesn’t post here.
There’s a template somewhere that lists all the hitstun/hitstun decay properties of moves. In fact, I just found it.
Ideally, you want to work sparking into a combo without using the actual sparking blast to hit them. Characters like Cell can do this, and it greatly reduces your hitstun while also making the damage scaling better.
You just gotta play around. Not every sparking combo works with every assist and/or combo. Sometimes you spark towards the beggining of a combo, sometimes towards the end. Again, it just depends and requires some expirimentation on the player’s part.
