Usb??lulz. good question. I think there are gonna be a numbers for specific gem combos
I’m in the “code boat” myself. USB sounds like it will have a lot of problems unless they provide a specific dongle with the game that would carry your entire team preferences, including costumes/colors and gem load-outs. Of course the added peripheral would add to the price so I’m guessing it might not happen.
For those who are still unhappy about auto block gems.
(They really seem worthless.)
I’m all for Gems system.
Its just the DLC gems that has me worried.
Such a waste of meter really. That’s one Gem less to worry about.
still waiting on that rage quit gem, it would make scrubs lives so much easier…eh eh? no? not funny? I thought it was…
anyways, im thinking there more standard gems…just more to be revealed later or something. the scale of this game seems to grow with the coming months. hype is slowly coming back to people too~ and the vocal minority have quieted down too…so things are looking up.
Who is going to get hit 3X in a row like that?
I still think the auto block will be nasty, but time will tell (I dont follow the SFXT system updates anymore)
all the other gem reveals looked pretty anemic actually.
Not planning on getting this game at the moment. I am worried that they will start releasing stronger powered DLC gems periodically and I will just be playing catchup. The fact that this is a possibility given the game system, and just this uncertainty alone, has turned me off
The way how the auto block gems look like are pretty useless. You need lots of meter to efficiently use it. I’d rather save the meter for other uses instead of blocking the amount of bars you’ve build up (1 bar = 1 auto block).
It really seem like more of a hindrance then help.
Once you recognize that some one is using this gem. It should be more then possible to. Take advantage of its use of meter. Which would ensure that they have limited meter. To use against you during the match. More so fighting some one who is using this gem. Will not drastically change how you fight them. Since ultimatly this just means that. They will block a few more attacks then normal threw out the match.
Am shore some will try to use it. Thinking it will give them easy wins. But they will end up abandoning the gem after a few days or a week. It is just like easy modes or in this case the easy gem. These things really worry people before a fighter is released. But after it is launched not much happens, and these worries. Are normally forgotten after the first few weeks.
This is not to say that Capcom could not mess up, and manage to do something. These other fighters could not. Which is turn these worries into reality. But at this point. We probably have more to worry about. With the gem selection system then the gems them self’s. Or so I would hope but. We will find out soon enough. Since they will probably release the gem build soon.
instant booms/scissors wait what?
things like this kind of shows how little people know about fighting games. also autoblock is a feature expertly handled in tekken so…
I really hope they handle this game well with the publics disjointed psyche because this is the game that will save the future of a certain other game
You know, I’ve been thinking - it’s pretty easy to set up charge moves in super easy mode without breaking the game.
Hold back for two seconds and press a button. Easy as fuck to do and doesn’t break the move by giving it a common input - not to mention it’ll probably limit things like dash charges and stuff.
If input letancy is exactly like ssf4. I think it’s going to be strick just a little
Anyone else reckon this system would be more interesting if the stat changes for attack, defense and speed gems were permanent rather than conditional and temporary? Obviously to balance this it’d mean you could only use one of these per character
I remember Capcom going on about selecting gems to fit your playstyle, but I was thinking, having something to fit your playstyle but only last for a few seconds is pointless, and definitely something that could be left out. The gems aren’t really unique or intuitive either, just generic. That picture of Ryu with that big ass fireball had me assuming there would be specials upgrade gems and gems with similar effects. I’m just trying to imagine how getting a one time 10% boost of damage or defense that lasts a few seconds would enhance the gameplay experience
Easy input gems can be handy. You lose 10% damage however, so if you want your basic 10% damage, you have to equip 2 gems that give you 10% damage. Those extra damage gems have consequences too, so you have to keep that in mind also. With very easy input gems, you even lose unique attacks, so your basically stuck with special moves and your super. Nothing to worry about. They don’t seem game breaking to me.
The gems were created mostly because the colorful lights, and with the roster being a sausage fest, it could give a gay-club feeling.
If you can explain this to me how you would do this, it might help me understand better
i wouldn’t want the boost to stay~ fuck…that shit right now. Like I said on Unity~
Cats+DLC gems are already going to make online a troll fest…i wouldnt want the shit to be unbearable.
if you stack the immense power lv2(land 10 normals) with the DLC one that has the same condition…its a 40% boost…15 seconds it not too long, but if it was forever…what the hell? why would you even need things like pandora(only 25%)? if gems lasted the whole match.
Gems being time limited is also part of their balance…shit like 20% damage boost for 15 seconds is ok because if it stacks, it gets better. same with Gems that have similar activation conditions or just generally the same type of Gem stacking. if there is a gem set with meter in mind a 50% in meter acquisition and 20% in reduction for 15~20 seconds is insane considering you get meter for attacking or getting your ass beat in this game…
Gems are fine the way they are, Gems become more effective when they are more of them~ its like i said before, most of the DLC ones are not glaringly better then the stock ones, however its intentional because once stacked with existing ones it changes things dramatically. Given there going to be more gems then the ones listed…different sets and combos are possible giving rise to more potential.
im not completely happy with the idea of paying for more Gems, in fact its kinda annoying but the initial set is already taken care of for the moment…i dont have to worry, however this games life will be determined by whether or not tournaments allow gems or not…
hes saying that, if you find out someone has this gem, you can exploit it by doing certain things, like tic-jabs or delaying block strings, simple annoying things to burn away the players meter if their not on their toes. thats pretty much it…
Since most of those tactics only work because of counterhits, they, in fact, would not take away meter.
no?
sometimes people just dont press buttons~ so its a 50/50 if anything, plus your pressuring your opponent in two ways, if he doesnt block the right way he waste meter, if he does block but gets set up for a tic-throw or fall for other shenanigans then he still loses that situation. its tough as that gem will block for you if your going to be attacked and your not blocking correctly(say Crossup or overheads) so throwing those in there too will make things worse. the counter hit is all bad in this game because its visually recognizable and gives anyone the time to capitalize on it for a combo…
