How’d Dias do this time
Mostly because Evo itself isn’t the main event it used to be anymore.
Because most FGs have their own World Championship event so EVO no longer has actual significance besides sentiment.
Out of curiosity, how much does one of this commissions cost ?
Yeah, Capcom Cup took a lot of oomph out of Evo.
Its a cool tournament but I still think Evo is the tournament for anything FGC. We’ll see what happens this year though. The fact that Capcom didn’t announce them as a Capcom Cup is kinda crazy.
Unless we’re gonna do that goofy stuff involving the announcements when it comes to Evo. Might be that.
Per character, $15 for sketches, $30 for full color
So, the Juri, Luong, I-No art was 45 dollars ?
Yeah
I see.
Have you ever thought about learning to draw yourself ? Could be a great thing to learn the basics and do your favorite characters. Gives you a new goal as well if you are tired of the online grind.
I am currently trying to learn Blender as i want to create a mod for Juri based on this but it’s tough. Last time i even attempted doing something like this ,they were maps for Counter strike in Valve Hammer editor and that’s another animal…
Fine… just fine.
No artistic sense whatsoever so no, not really

Not just Capcom Cup. TWT, ArcSys having its own tour or whatever, DBFZ also has its own…
eSports taking its toll again.
Evo is still a super major and there’s gigantic potential for announcements during it, but it doesn’t have that “The biggest stage that decides who’s the best in the world” feel anymore.
I went to Evo for years straight. 1st one I think was in 2005 at the green valley ranch went to every Evo for like 6 years straight after that… And then like a handful afterwards.
Once it pretty much became a Con and cash grab…it lost it luster for me and this was pre esports.
not even knowing what esports was you could feel the commercial and sponsorship strings being pulled.
Now like others have said Evo is just a press release for me mostly.
I can’t get behind what it has become, the last time I went which was in 2018 I think the prices were so ridiculous I couldn’t justify entering and spectator prices were even worse.
Evo has done way to many things over the years for me to really feel good about it.
But hey I can’t knock the hustle.
I do feel like if they don’t watch out in another couple years when the old heads fall out more, the younger players who have no loyalty to Evo will move on to like combo breaker or some other tournament.
They better keep getting big announcements and trailers…
Combo Breaker is the best tournament to go to if you ask me
EVO isn’t bad but definitely never felt like a “must go” event the years I was there. CB is just a lot more fun. CEO is pretty close too.
I’m gonna try to make it up this year.
We will see though.
Yeah CEO is also great.
Alot of people have given FR flack, but it always feels like the most “honest” or throwback major too me.
It’s like a major that’s just a big old local it always feels 100 percent about the game and not about a presentation. Also it has that ruff edge and grit to it lol…
It’s definitely had it’s straight up bad events, but I think every player needs to experience that from time to time lol
…lol, saw someone posted this last night before the Tekken 7 patch notes went live.
If only they knew…

Once it pretty much became a Con and cash grab…it lost it luster for me and this was pre esports.
I have a hypothesis about this but I wanna ask: Why do you feel its a cash grab?
