The Game of Thrones OFFICIAL thread

agreed, so far of all the things they’ve done in the series, that stood out as the most glaring change.

in the books i don’t think that was ever officially stated, or even that heavily implied; i feel like you just got ‘suspicions’ from the other characters, but no real tangible evidence

like sandwhich said, the series has been a lot more overt with things that were relatively subtle in the books. probably because of the medium change.

Episode 2

[details=Spoiler]Yeah in the books I guessed that was probably happening, it was just the way the show dealt with it. Here we have a character who they’ve been trying to build as a more honorable or duty bound type. In one scene, you have characters vouching for his honor. Jump forward 5 minutes and you have him dropping his pants at that one line. Since viewers have no idea about his family troubles, the show effectively undermined a core aspect of the character they were attempting to develop. In one scene Stannis goes from the duty bound character who expresses his true feelings about others, even to the point of striking out “beloved” from a letter because he doesn’t feel that way, to someone that throws away their morals in a matter of minutes.

I think it would have been better if he denied her this episode. Then, in the next episode, we could learn more about his family situation. Finally, once Stannis views his odds against Renly and knows there’s no hope, he finally succumbs to Melisandre’s charms. To me, that would make more sense in the context of the show.[/details]

Lol you guys are ridiculous. What happened in the show was perfectly realistic. How much pent up sexual tension did you think the guy had? It’s been what, years since he’s fucked? Then you have a beautiful manipulative woman who the guy worships telling him she would fulfil both his dream of having a child and let him fuck her.
It’s already hard to say no at this point, but once the titties are whipped out, that’s basically a GGPO.
I like the way they portray people in this show, shit is mad realistic. The fact that he even resisted a bit is testament to his honorable nature

Wars have been fought over pussy before, you guys really shouldn’t underestimate that thing’s power.

she looked pretty bangin too

He’s already told David Benioff and DB Weiss how some major plots will conclude if he happens to die.

Butchery? Stop being such a crybaby.

Crybaby?

LMMFAO.
I am not crying about shit (literally).

If I were remotely minded to cry, it’d be about utter travesty that the book series has become, since book three - not over a badly wrought made for television money-grab.

Real life warning. Men have both XY, women do not. So it’s entirely on the male what the sex of the kids is, woman has nothing to do with it, she’s strictly XX.

Melisandre

Spoiler

Yeah, but you’re forgetting this bitch is Legit when it comes to magic

I’m not sure how someone can call the TV series a ‘badly wrought’ money grab. HBO usually does a fantastic job with their series and this one was no exception

The Wire, Rome, Game of Thrones, Band of Brothers…

In terms of the books it is a bit. But that’s largely because it’s next to impossible to 1-1 translate a book to the TV.

Best.acerbic.post.ever.

I think Rome was, English cast aside, fantastic.

So was Deadwood Season 1, and Carnivale Season 1.

All three were canceled early, due to piss poor reception via ratings.

The latter two, due to their first seasons doing abysmally, even dummied their stories the fuck down, hardcore. Don’t believe me? Read Clancey Brown’s parting diatribe.

What do all of these example have in common with Game of Thrones?

Not a damned thing.

Unless you count the dummying down and pandering to idiots happening PRE-production.

After the debacle of the last two books, I am even willing to allow for the first three books being a streak of flukes.

The television series is practically the next natural step in the story’s rapid devolution.

It is like AFFC and ADWD went back in time, and raped their progenitors, resulting in the genetically similar, but horribly off, television series. THIS is the worst case of incest in the whole of A Song of Ice And Fire.

The same bitch that played King Henry VIII’s second wife in The Tudors is back. Seems like she’s playing the same roll on a different show which is trying to get knocked up by the king. I used to think she was hot the first couple times I saw her on the Tudors, now she just looks gross…

if she massaged your dick would you fuck her?

I would ask her to pretend to be her brother.

WOW… wtf is really good.

yo what the fuck just happened at the end there?

Best episode of the season, Joffery is the gayest King of all time. He has to be pissed about having a small dick or something because no one is that evil for no reason. He can’t even fuck whores without being a jackass.

Lord Tywin showing up was 100% badass, he looked badass and then immediately started regulating like a fucking boss. Kinda felt bad for that kid who died tho, just one more day and he would have lived…but I guess it’s his fault for telling fatty Mcfatness his trick.

No words for the end, I mean gross…

Judging by everyone’s reactions towards the ending, it must have something to do with a certain “preggo” redhead, haha…looking forward to seeing how they handled that scene.

i remember reading that part in the book and not really knowing what the fuck happened. i like how this show clears up a thing or two for me.
