IIRC in the books he hadnāt gotten back to Kingās Landing yet. Cersei sent him a letter telling him shit went down and asking for him to come back and help her. He just straight tore up the letter and threw it away. Didnāt give her a second thought.

I feel like weāre all missing the major thing here, which is that Varys just straight up stole Littlefingerās Teleporter. I mean holy shit, dude was able to leave Kingās Landing again, head back to Mereen, and catch a ride on one of Danyās ships in no time flat at all.
