First off, I would like to say congrats to Tom and Tony. The both of you have helped make, not just Evo, but the entire fighting community, bigger than life. If it wasn’t for you two constantly pushing the envelope and bringing in constant, big competition from not only coast to coast, but around the world, the scene would still be far underground.
I think I speak for everyone when I say thank you. You do amazing things to bring together such a long running event that once had humble beginings. I’m sure it takes much work from you guys to pull all this together, and I have much respect for that.
But what does the future hold for the prestegeous “Cannon Award”? Honestly, I feel this could be a new, running tradition with Evo to give recognition to those who have done great things for the community. And there are many canadates to be had.
Thanks to James Chen and whoever else came up with the idea for the award. It was a really great surprise and very much appreciated.
I was talking with the guys after Evo and yes, it is intended to be an annual award presented to the behinds-the-scenes guys who don’t get their names in the headlines but have displayed a sustained commitment to the FGC.
With the success of the fighting game community as a whole, maybe we will see more people like the Cannon brothers who contribute to the community and receive the award.
Tom and Tony- You guys reek of awesomeness. THANK you for all that you have done and continue to do. I hope your efforts continue to inspire a new generation.
