Don’t worry, I made a plugin so whenever alpha submits “Lynch RadicalFuzz” we actually make it say “Lynch AlphaCommando” but on his screen, it will always show up as “Lynch RadicalFuzz” so he’ll never know
reminds me of a forum I saw once where somebody would get put into “Swedish Chef” mode and everyone else just sees nothing but “bork bork bork” but the person who wrote the post actually saw their normal post. It was a good way to deal with trolls
So I contacted SiteGround, as I wanted to clarify some things.
They had with their packages stuff that said “Suitable for ~# unique visits monthly.”
This was concerning to me, since I’m on VPN, I probably account for God only knows how many unique views a month due to my IP constantly changing between China and various other countries.
I wanted to make sure there would be no problems. If we hit the metric they set out and exceed it (which said 10,000 for their basic plan, which may still be hard to exceed), there is no penalty and our site would work as normal, it’s just a metric they use to help people determine what would be best for their needs.
I think we should be set there.
Should we run a local test server to make sure all foreseeable problems in the forum software is worked out beforehand before we take the plunge on the service?
I guess we should also go ahead and make our themes and logos and get them ready, too. It would be bad to have a half-assed rollout.
Dayuuuum, did you guys hear that? He did it on purpose!
So we need a logo, a theme, maybe a motto or something, anything else? If for some inexplicable reason you want HD footage of any current fighting game I can most likely provide.
I could probably run a test server through VMWare later with a empty Arch Linux install, if PW or Forge wants to do it, that’s fine.
Basically just need to practice the install and installing addons and make sure there are no conflicts.
Once we get the theme, we run the test server and check the theme and make sure there are no problems too. If there are, we can troubleshoot.
Basically, I would be the only one able to see the changes, or the person with the test server would be if someone else does. But if all works out, then we can create the forum and send it live really really fast.
There’s no Leaderboard setup like we need, so we may have to start out with that manually, if Forge or PW wants to write that, we can implement it once it’s finished (after testing it in the test server first.)
However the theme hinges on the logo, once Alpha gets it done, we can decide on how to design the site’s layout and color scheme.
