The Future of SFxT

tuned in to SF 25th Anniversary LA Qualifier… last round of the last match in grand finals, Rufus/Chun mirror between Ricky & Justin… ends in Time Over

i feel robbed of that 1 minute i watched… you can tell justin/ricky don’t take the game seriously, they play exactly like week 1

the LA qualifier hasn’t happened yet.

You’re watching a rebroadcast of a previous tourney, probably the Texas(?) one.

Which ones?

Maybe Ogre’s vertical diving thingy and Bison’s head stomp are among them, not sure. o_O

Lariat even beats Headstomp and Vegas bullshit

What the hell? :o

Oh, if you are talking about all moves including specials, then yes. Really one of the only ones I can’t AA with Lariat consistently is Headstomp, not sure if that’s possible. Also Claw’s Barcelona dive
But all of them can be blocked and punished. Hwoa’s dive can be tricky too because he can alter the trajectory

thank god… rufus/chun mirror is the worst thing possible

Steanding Lariat beats Headstomp clean when you time it right and trades when you don’t. It also beats Flying Barcelona Attack, but the timing is not that easy and you have to watch out if it’s a crossup or not.

Yeah, so we need people to get out there and fucking shut that type of shit down. I’ve had it up to here with that kind of play >:(

SFxT: Long rounds, grey life recovers super fast.
TTT2: Short rounds, red life recovers super slow.

At least in SFxT grey life is something you really have to manage. In TTT2 I find red life incredibly useless to a point where I don’t even care about sacrificing it with a Tag Assault combo because it won’t affect the outcome of matches 90% of the time.

I just wish there was a sweet middle ground between SFxT and TTT2 regarding match length and recoverable health.

I strongly believe your wish will come true, as Capcom has been hinting at using slower recovery of gray life as a way of balancing.

well headstomp and vega’s wall dives dont consistently get beat by lariat. Those were actually the only 2 moves i could think of where it was possible to beat lariat consistently. While it is possible to win with lariat on those, it’d only win if the wall dive or headstomp doesnt go for the head. Gief really cant do anything offensively if Vega trys to go for Izuna drop. It’s a nasty mix up. Gief’s only 3 options is to backdash at the last sec (but if Vega goes for slash instead of izuna he gets hit), block (but loses to izuna) or charge up running bear grab (which also loses to izuna). Headstomp just naturally hits Gief right in the head. The best gief can hope for is a trade. However, depending on how far away Bison is when he does the headstomp Gief can walk/dash a little bit to make the headstomp miss the head and hit his shoulders which a timed lariat will beat.

Edit cause i didnt see this till now:

Lemme try this. I never tried standing lariat against headstomp. if this is the case then i’ll go back and try against FBA as well.

Ok there’s only 1 move that can beat lariat. Izuna drop. nothing he can do against that, cept hope that Vega misses it.

Headstomp depends on where on the screen Gief is. Lariat beats it but, he has to use crouching lariat in the corner to beat it. Mid screen it’s way easier to beat headstomp with standing lariat. Thanks for the tip Fastlane

There is some grey life management. I think Tag assault combos leave more grey health behind than normal stuff.

So the premise of balance they got here was… you get TA!'d you get more red life to recover and you get netsu.

well if Capcom would have afforded the courtesy of not rushing the game out then maybe the outcome would be different. You can’t in good conscience blame the community if they do not want to support mediocre titles…it’s not somehow different because it’s Capcom churning out the duds.

Grey health definitely needs tweaking, imo it’s the only thing that needs to be sorted about the game, it’d make the game more interesting when grey health recovers slower imo, as there’ll be more emphasis on decision making on whether to tag your partner in or not and eliminate the grey health. It’s just too fast right now.

I wouldn’t exactly say rushed game. The game plays well enough in it’s current form. Some tweaks would be okay but it does not need a complete change as many casuals/people who haven’t learned the game claim to think. Capcom did more wrong on their executive and business standpoint in inking exclusives with Sony Playstation and wanting to make more money off people from the extra hundreds of gem$ in the game. I’m all for the gem idea of customization but as it stands right now there’s just way too many to keep track. There are a few interesting ones I like with the right conditions of activation but hey, they require me to actually buy it so I’ve never tried it.

Point is, too many people are egging the game for gameplay issues that they don’t agree with but it isn’t exactly something wrong with the gameplay.

If people really disliked how Capcom handled SFxT they should also boycott AE and MVC3. There’s on disc DLC on those games too btw. Everything is a 108kb unlock key.

The best part about the JiBBo vs RyRy set, in the stream chat it was timeout and jab jab messages trolling. People calling the game trashy with bad mechanics.

Grand finals ended in five minutes. Every round ending in under 40 seconds of game time. GGS. Trolls all shut up.

The level of play has progressed, it’s just not exposed.

Why would it be? Most of the FGC seems to want this game dead

The “FGC” wants every game dead. They have no e-celebrities to look up to in the new games.
