The Future of SFxT

3S is the best game ever, wtf are you clowns talking about

Well most of the time anyway

So best that nobody wants to show it off on stream anymore.

I personally like this game, but it’s friggin’ impossible to find others in NYC that play it.

go to the arch. Emp guys love sfxt. Dieminion loves the game. Avoid chris g and marlin pie, they hate it.

I live in NY…Troy, NY though, which is a bit too far away. :frowning:

I have found literally 0 people around here who want to play this game. Everyone either hates the game or hates the game because everyone else hates the game.

I actually want to blame this on the genre cannibalizing itself. Alot of the players I know think; ‘OMG new game I can learn early to win tournaments’. And so every time the next game comes out, everyone drops what they’re doing and plays that. p4a>ttt2>gg in like a few weeks. I didn’t even get good with Elizabeth before they dropped persona :c

No matter what people say about SFIV, it brought everyone together playing one game, and created a really large community of people into the same option selects and frame traps. Before then, I played Tekken with like 4 people, or SF3 with my bro. But since SFIV brought on this massive wave of fighting games, now everyone’s branching off to play whatever new soon-to-be-obsolete game is out.
Some people will stick with a game, others will move on, making smaller and smaller sub groups. It’s like the 90s. And then fighting games become more of a niche again because they’re divided into a bunch of small groups again. SFxT is getting the short end because it already had hate thanks to the silly DLC and the ‘redeeming’ Capcom tournament.
Games don’t die, people just move on

Random people will come up to me for versus if I load it up at Next Level sometimes.

People just need initiation.

The trophy in the garbage thing is mad old. PR Rog may say he likes the game but his actions show otherwise.

i’ve been under a rock. what trophy?

There was a F.Champ tweet of a CEO SFxT trophy in the garbage in the post above mine, which seems to be deleted (good thing it’s in my short twitter history)

He stuck Ricky O’s trophy in the garbage and took a photo to troll without his permission.

I’m glad he’s drinking coke zero and diet coke that boy is not cute at all lol (wish I saw milk in the trash can he needs the calcium so he can grow vertical instead of horizontal >.>).

FChamp rags on everything to act cool, guys just got one of those personalities where he feels the need to showboat all the time. All using FChamp as ammo confirms is that you’re stuck in that stream monster mentality.

Doesn’t change the fact that PR Rog has hated SFxT since day 1, was the first guy to tweet “LOL SFxT has no hype” at NCR, refused to play 3 out of 5 at the CEO GF with Ricky and for him to suddenly praise SFxT is very suspect.

Ricky has always liked the game. Rog has been pissed off since day 1 that Balrog is crap.

Game has tons of hype anyway between high level players not using week one technology so I’m not sure what your argument is.

Because they got owned at EVO. NCR means nothing right now. Everyone’s level at NCR was ass. Nobody did anything new presented in the game. Nobody crushed lows, nobody did decent optimized tag cancels. Nobody played the game right. It’s like watching Ken vs Ryu jump roundhouse and sweep all day. Those are SF2 tactics btw. They praise SFxT because they got humbled by the Koreans. But the game isn’t like super popular right now so nobody cares if he’s liking this game now or never. PR Balrog is a good player, very respectful in that regard but it doesn’t mean the feces leaking out of his mouth is gold. It’s just an opinion. But I do understand that e-celebrities words have some power.

You don’t need to be amazing at games to really talk about it or judge it. I’m not great but I do like to analyze stuff and I consider myself an enthusiast as I like to watch more than play. You can’t hold their opinions to much man.

Personally I do view the game as being more fun to play than watch. It’s not hype to watch. Neither is chess but that game has been around for hundreds of years. Some games are more auto pilot than others. SFxT takes a bit more thinking and it’s sometimes largely over complicated to a fault but not a bad game. At some points in these games outside of SFxT, when you can’t win with thinking you random. That’s what it is, SFxT is chess with timers. SF4 is chess with no time limit. Just do it.

Alex Valle said it best, you gotta random him out to win sometimes. You can’t random in SFxT much, you have to be consistent. It’s even like Super Turbo in some vague respect. You can’t do your own styling much in ST. You either play the damn match up “right” or you just die to fire ball and DP traps all day. There is no individuality in old games. Even Jwong has tweeted about it few times in favor of the game. He tweets way too much so I don’t want to dig archives, but it’s basically him arguing a lil vs like a dozen other people for SFxT saying it’s more consistent and better than “b.s.” like Morrigan lameness or whatever random stuff.

Anyway, it’s funny. Going off topic here… Capcom revives fighting games with SF4 but it’s killing fighting games because of Marvel stream monster mentality. I don’t even find Marvel that fun to play personally. And watching others play… it’s more distressing than fun at times. Everyone’s all tippy on their toes because there’s so much bullshit in the game that randoms you out… I can’t find that fun at all. I love certain Marvel characters in it but they’re like not even top notch cuz they don’t have random shit. Hello, Iron Fist. But people grind the game out cuz there’s money in it and they like the comic book character association. I personally play SFxT for some of the character loyalty and it is a fresher breath of air from the SF4 series for the past 3-4 years. No disrespect to SF4, it’s still a fun game and I do it more offline now than online but there’s plenty of room for other games. I don’t understand the dead game trolling lately. You can play more than one game and excel at it. If more people tried to excel at more than a game or at least be smart enough to learn the right things like Justin Wong, Chris G, Tokido or whoever then we’d have way more diversity in game popularity and community; I know some people have limited time but it doesn’t mean you shit on the other games you don’t play.

Pigeonholing a casual community into playing one or two games is not healthy by any standard. The future of this game won’t shrink much IMO. All that’s left, publicly, are hardcore devotees. What you guys can do is hold side tournies, show up for whatevers and just play it. You don’t need EVO to put a name for the game to play it. Hella people play games that don’t have tournaments for. I do believe even just online streaming would be okay. The netcode is good enough to withstand some connections. It’s designed to have the host setting for streaming too which I think is really nice. I still think it’s pretty nutty people are still shunning SFxT. It’s a pretty exemplary package with stuff designed for the modern fighter and online culture. It’s all the neat things they kept tossing into SF4 and pushing it up.
Replays channels? Check.
Streaming host settings? Check.
You want GGPO? We did something similar for you.

IMO I’m not just concerned for the future of SFxT, I’m concerned for the future of fighting games in general. DOA5 just came out, already pronounced dead. I left it alone. I am waiting for high level matches to be entertained at.
I’m entertained by TTT2 matches right now because I finally “get it” with that series.
I’m entertained by weekly Persona streams from Japan and NorCal. Thanks guys!
SF4 I am bored with. Marvel is boring. People roll dice for random kills all day.I’m not impressed by loop combos because it’s kind of like watching SkullGirls combo reels for 35 seconds. Zzzzzzzzz

And that concludes my weekly A.M. rant.

sf4 is chess for autists

I think the era of “doing this because it is smart and I’m reading you” is long gone. We’re in the YOLO era of FGs now.

Also I like marvel, it is a pretty fun game, but damn if is not also the silliest one also. SFxT is fun, but it really needs a real patch, I see the potential but if capcom doesnt do shit about it it will stay forever as it is.

It’s still there, just overshadowed by random stuff!
