Ripping off the dog episode? Come on. Sure, they were weaving different time periods together, but that’s something that they pretty much had to do from scratch. And how can you not love a line that’s both romantic, funny and sci fi at the same time? “Wait for me Leela, I’ll be there in a thousand years!” Only on Futurama.
Also, Fry wasn’t pathetic in the first movie at all I think. You gotta be hurt before you evolve into a character like Lars. (The one thing I really didn’t like is that “Silly Willy video will” gag at the end of the funeral. They could have waited before coming in with a half decent gag.)
Also, the series episodes after Where No Fan Has Gone Before did NOT happen. They were suffering from Bender’s Game-itis.
Crazy Malfunctioning Eddy has my favorite quotes in the whole series. Best part is when he and Fry are sharing a cell in the robot asylum. The quote goes something like…
Eddy: "Hello there Fry, it’s a pleasure to meet you."
Fry: "Actually, we’ve met once before."
Eddy: "WHAT!?!?!?!?!" Self Destructs.
Just watched aaaaand… the movie was ok but it feels like the movies declined from the 1st (being the best) to the 4th (of course being the worse). Good series of movies all together and hope Fox gets off their asses and bring us a new season.
Bender’s Big Score - Best story of all four movies, restored fan’s faith in the series.
Top/mid tier:
Beast with a Billion Backs - Weaker story, but makes up for it with some great jokes and higher production values than the previous movie.
Low tier:
Into the Wild Green Yonder - Starts out promising, but gets really boring, really fast.
Shit tier:
Bender’s Game - Basically a Family Guy episode with a Futurama palette swap. You’ll wish it was joke tier, because it sure isn’t funny. Makes you wish Futurama stays canceled, in stead of it making a revival.
next thursday is the first new episode. I’m fucking psyched to hell to see this show again (even though what happened to them after the last movie kinda seems like a lame explanation).
Anybody in Canada know how we’re gonna be able to watch it??? I’m assuming Comedy Network, as they usually show whatever Comedy Channel shows.
I wonder if the humor will be “edgier” now that it’s on comedy channel? If so, I hope it doesn’t go too far since it would lose some of its unique charm.
First episode was pretty good. I expect better ones later, considering this one was just explaining wtf happened since the last movie.
spoiler
[details=Spoiler] I am glad Leela and Fry are still pretty much in love. After several seasons of Fry trying to win her heart until he finally succeeded, it was nice to not have them start all over again.
Bender constantly partying likely could have gone on several more episodes.
I completely forgot about Zap Brannigan until the end there.
Kinda sad that Scruffy didnt have any dialogue.[/details]
Kinda noticed they showed a BIT more nudity than they usually do. Now that its on Comedy Central, I am interested to see how much they are allowed to do (especially when u consider other shows, like South Park).
saw the first two eps. they were ok. had their moments but on the whole they weren’t all that great. I mean the second ep was a perfect plot to have an appearance by hedonism bot and they totally dropped the ball. I was encouraged by what I saw though.
