EVO monitor for sale!! (actually, the a little bit bigger version)

http://www.frys.com/product/5895643?site=sa:Homepage:Spot5

$150 after rebate

I dont think thats the right one. The evo monitor is the 236H iirc; the 24" version would be the 246H, which I’ve had and adored like no other since my SGI monstrosity way back when. The 236H has a 2ms grey to grey response time, as does the 246H. The 242 linked there has the slower 5ms grey-to-grey.

No, it’s the right one. The 5 ms quoted on Fry’s is not GTG response time. (at least, thats what the newegg reviews said)

This monitor is actually the one in between the two you said. It’s a 23.6 inch as opposed to 23 or 24 inch.

EDIT: I’d also like to add:

Response time has nothing to do with lag. Response time is responsible for ghosting and artifacts on a screen, but 5 ms and 2 ms are not noticeable to the human eye. It takes 14 ms response time for a human eye to notice artifacting becoming evident.

So even if this monitor has a 5 ms response time, remember RESPONSE TIME IS NOT LAG! the VH242H (23.6") is in the same line of monitors as the VH236H (evo monitor) and VH246H (24" monitor), and therefore, is also lagless.

I believe it’s a great deal. I have 3 of them and I’ve never had any complaints.

For more info about response time, read the HDTV thread in tech talk.

3 quick PS3 codes, all unlockable from the redeem code screen:

**Transformers: War for Cybertron

Play as Shockwave in MP

J768 - 6TBA - HKMC

Rock Band: Green Day

unlock all the songs on the RB:GD disc to play on RB2 and RB3 later this year

GQHF - K2BK - MEHF

Mod Nation Racers

Unlock Kratos and his cart of Chaos to race with

FHBP - E4B9 - 95L5**

Man, I WOULD have to see that Transformers code when I’m sitting at work! I wish there was a way to use these codes on-line, I’d be all over that, Shockwave is my boy!

another reason XBL rules! :stuck_out_tongue:

That Shockwave code looks so tempting but I’ll let someone who wants it more snag it. I really need to check this thread more often.

ignorance is blizz, I’ll stick to my REAL evo monitors and my 2ms thanks but NO THANKS.

Upas, you’re getting awful defensive. This isn’t any sort of attack on you or meant to make you feel bad for the three you’ve bought. My only point is that it is NOT the ‘little bigger version of the Evo monitor’.

Go to http://usa.asus.com/. Search for these models and add them to the Compare List:
VH236H-P (The Evo monitor: http://shoryuken.com/threads/176887-Need-Feedback-on-Lagless-LCD-TVs!?p=6631490&viewfull=1#post6631490 There is a ‘VH236H’ that can be added, but doesn’t have specs that show on the compare list.)
VH242H (The one you’ve linked to at Frys)
VW246H (The one I’m claiming is the better choice)
VH232H (The ‘Evo sized’ version of the 24" monitor you linked).

The 236H and 246H have identical video specs down the line with the exception of physical size related specs (power, pitch, etc.). The 242H doesn’t include the ‘Trace Free’ technology, and has the slower 5ms response time. The VH242H and VH232H are identical as well. On any site that has both models, the 236H and 246H will be $10-$20 more expensive than the 242H and 232H:

Does that mean it lags or is worthless? Absolutely not.
My conclusion is that the 242 and 232 are a slightly inferior product line from the actual Evo monitor that’s been recommended and tested, and the 246 is the better choice to describe as the 23.6" version of the Evo monitor. If you don’t agree after this post, then just say you don’t agree. I have no interest in arguing it any further.

Good shit, I see you’re right. My bad, I know its not an excuse, but I was having a bad day and it kinda showed.

While it may not be an evo monitor, I’m happy with my 3 , and I still think it’s a pretty good deal for a 23.6" monitor.
