D1 as in Delorted1? That Fox was very good, nicely efficient and refreshing to see an efficient control and punish style over a d-air-u-tilt-upsmash Fox.
That wolf Gimp at the end though was sick if he’d’ve pulled it off.

Yeah, that was a nice trick by the wolf…
I wonder if it works with fox…
Probly not bc of his stalling…
Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I can never seem to get the Grab Release > U-Smash with Fox. Does it only work on certain characters?
Yes, it only works on certain characters. I only perform it on Meta Knight, Wario’s too strong to get killed by it (early enough) anyway, and it shouldn’t work on Wario players, because of their habits.
For your opponent to jump break from a grab, they have to press up on the controller stick (rotating counts too) or a jump button, while you’re pummeling them. Also, if you’re still pummeling by the time the grab release happens, there’s no jump break either.
The thing about Wario players, is that several characters can do that to Wario, so the players naturally don’t press up while being grabbed anyway.
What I’d do, is just pummel once at low percents, or twice at mid-high. I also pummel slow so it counts as multiple moves (to refresh Fox’s moveset). It’s easy to notice if your opponent rotates their controller stick, specially if you’re sitting to the left of them (because you get a clearer side view).
This technique does work, because Fox is a rarely played character, so people forget or don’t know these things.
