The Formula 1 Thread - 'MURRICAH scoring them points

First race of the new “turbo era” is done. Lewis drops out after taking pole due to problems with his car giving Nico the chance to win. Nice to see rookies filling up the other two podium steps too with RBRs Ricciardo second and McLaren’s Magnusson third. Too bad Red Bull were apparently cheating with Ricciardo’s car (something the FIA already noticed and warned them about) getting him disqualified.

That said, it’s still a promising start to the new season especially now that require more skill to drive again.

Final results.

Didn’t know there was a SRK thread for this. I watched this race live because I’m in Australia anyway, but apparently the free-to-air broadcast channel couldn’t front up enough money so we’re only getting to see ~half of the races live and the rest delayed. Sad.

The race itself was pretty average, but that might be the fact that only 11 cars finished made the action less dense than it should be. I’m surprised how many of those had various reliability issues - more than this time last year when they were using the new engine spec for the first time.

Also nerf Mercedes pls. It really kills things when one team is way better than the rest (Ferarri, Red Bull, and now Mercedes) - I want to see people have to fight with other cars for first place, not just avoid crashing into their team mate and get a 1-2 because they’re 2+ seconds faster than everyone else anyway.

I’ve just started watching it on iplayer. LOL So only 11 finished WOW, wonder what Honda is thinking right now

lol Gremlins screwing with teams trying to put on their rear left tyres on… Bizarre.

Just caught the highlights on the BBC website, looks like it was a very entertaining race.

LOL Rosberg and Hamilton really really don’t like each other.
This Verstappen is brilliant, reminded me of Hamilton’s first season in F1, the kid has balls of steel lol.

First post updated.

Now to stop following this and watch WEC instead.

Okay I lied.

I’m back because I found this wonderful site.

I didn’t know there was a thread for this. I am really getting into F1 from my uncles. Have always been around the races and seen them on tv mass. I look forward to learning more and more about the sport.

Ready for Bahrain? Last year was the best race of the season

Also remember when this happened

That 2.3 second pit stop though for Ferrari. Insanity.

Rosberg is really fighting for that #1 placing.

lol yeh, I’m usually quite good at guessing pit times but that one was too quick to judge.

Battle between 4th and 5th is interesting. Ferrari looks better braking into the corner, the Williams isn’t but it pulls away on exit. Vettel is going to have to do something special to get past

That smoking brakes from Lotus though. I was salty about that.

Three laps to go.

Wow. that pass on Mercedes tho…

Oh shit Rosberg fucked up

**Refuelling to return in 2017 to make F1 more exciting.
**

Faster cars are always a plus.

Aside from refueling, weight reduction is the most important thing they could bring in, since this is a concern for real world cars as well.

Anyone watching the Monaco Grand Prix
Mercedes just fucked up pitting Hamilton, he had a 21 second lead from second place then the safety car came out and he went into the pit, now he is in 3rd.

That crash looked like it was going to be really nasty but the cars protect the drivers so well now, really impressive.

Edit Rosberg wins his 3rd Monaco Grand Prix

I wasn’t able to watch it because I was at the gym and went to bed afterward. Was pulling for Hamilton though.

So Rosberg is now the only person to win the Moncao GP 3 times in a row who hasn’t won a championship?
