The Football (Soccer) Thread - Season 2017/2018

Ghana’s play is pretty reckless I don’t see them going far unless they stop bullshiting around.

I like the US coach, he seems like a good guy.

Edit:

And LOL.

Funny thing is Kingston has not had much playtime outside the national team. He’s like a 3rd or so string goalie. He performed well today, I acknowledge that.

Anyone who thinks the US, if they were in the opposite position, wouldn’t have done the exact same thing as Ghana - diving like Navy SEALS, time-wasting, etc - is wrooooooong.

and once again America goes back to not caring about soccer.

Lol, so true.

Wasn’t he just let go by Wigan? I’m sure he’ll be picked up sharpish after this World Cup.

You think that’s bad?

fuck you’ve not seen anything, yeah ghana was cheating a bit but the refs are not idiots in the end diving and rolling around only adds time to the clock, look at the end when jonathan goes down, he realises that if he stays down the ref will stop and add even more time, so he gets up and plays on.

There antics were NOTHING! compaired to the spanish and portugese and brazil.

Bahaha go Ghana!
African pride at the world cup is a good thing.

Lol @ people saying the US got robbed!

Now we have the Germany vs England game to look forward to. England will fuck up tomorrow and ruin my weekend :bluu:

Smh at that shit.

US got lucky with the goal against England’s goalie Green, got lucky as hell against Algeria, scored a goal from a penalty kick against Ghana.

Only thing I’ll give them credit for is the 2-2 tie against Slovenia that should have been a win.

I’m going to watch with my German friends so i’m rooting for Germany in this match.

Yeah it’s good that there’s still an african team in the world cup and you never know they beat uruguay and there in the semis, which is possible because what i saw of uruguay today didn’t impress me at all.

As for usa being robbed? complete overreaction it’s not like they had a stonewall penalty or a goal chalked off in this match, they were just not good enough.
They should just suck it up and try and find where they went wrong and improve on that.

I think the draw was deserved in that game. That ‘goal’ shouldn’t have even been a free kick in the first place so it seems two wrongs do make a right

I’m greatly disappointed that the US gave up yet ANOTHER goal in under 5 minutes to start this game, then a goal in under 2 minutes to start the extra time. I don’t understand how a team can be so bad to start games. If you took the first 15 minutes of every game the US has played and just watched them back to back, you’d have thought this was a scrub team that got destroyed every game. Just fundamental breakdowns and silly little mistakes. And then they start dominating the rest of the game. US looked like the better team by FAR for most of the second half and the extra time.

It seems they don’t have solid attacking strategy though. Too many high cross passes to the net with no real intent. They need to power the ball into the box more, they’re the bigger, stronger team, and the Ghana players were worn out near the end of the second period, yet they still tried to silly, looping passes that found no one almost exclusively.

But still, keep your head up US, your team showed a lot of heart, and you guys lived up to your reputation for being a team that never gave up, and gave us the best goal in US World Cup history vs Algeria.

Goddamn, Landon Donovan is only 28? I thought for sure he was in his 30’s. Dude’s been playing for a long ass time…

coughback 4cough

God, now mexico gets to lose to Argentina tomorrow.

Let’s go Uruguay

I’m sad USA is eliminated.

For tomorrow, I’m excited to see the Germany vs England match. I’m rooting for Germany.

Yeah, I don’t see Ghana beating Uruguay.

And for people mad at Ghana for the stalling tactics, that’s standard procedure for ANY club when they have a lead late in the game. Happens in almost every sport that’s measured by a clock. Some games can battle it, like basketball with intentional fouling and a shit, but not futbol, not yet, anyway. They may make a rule change or two sometime in the future, but I wouldn’t count on it, so for now, just accept that as part of the game. Ghana did what all teams do, props to them for winning a tough game against a gritty USA team.

Like I said I would have rather faced Germany. Ghana’s got all of Africa on their side.
