The Football (Soccer) Thread - Season 2017/2018

I knew it:image

PS: “seu palpite” = “your guess”

What a story…

I guess the good thing is now that the USA will face some real teams who will give them a run for their money. I hope it’s Germany.

Good shit, both England & US advanced.

Amazing game. Still unfortunate that we had that goal taken away - was it actually offsides? The commentators didn’t seem to think so, but I don’t know shit and based on the replays it looked like the defender had a half-step on our guy who scored… /sigh, we shoulda been ahead most of the game.

And after blowing soooo many golden opportunities - thank god we got through. I had just about given up and was paying my tab when we hit that in.

TL;DR - America, FUCK YEA

AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

We did it! Man, I was getting frustrated with that game, those +4 minutes sure helped us out.

very well deserved for the USA, Donovan is the Pele of United States.

Anybody else turn into a clinically insane madman after Donovan scored that goal?

I did…DAMN!

That’s why football is football. All it takes is one goal.

That first goal was 100% legit, that offsides call was bullshit.

You have no idea how salty I would be right now if USA tied 0-0 that game and we got eliminated from the World Cup because of not one but TWO terrible disallowed goals…

Movie-like ending to the match though. Fantastic match. That last goal was made possible by of our keeper Howard’s SICK arm. He threw that shit with power and accuracy all the way to mid field right at Donovan. GJ to Altidore too, playing big all match.

^_-;

USA wins group despite TWO key dis-allowed goals by phantom offsides calls.

Via monte:

Despite everything:
Our team NEVER gave up. Even after so many missed chances. Could have been up 3 goals even with the dis-allowed one.
And Donovan is there to put it away, AGAIN!

If USA didn’t score and didn’t advance, I don’t think the team would have blamed the refs. That’s the sort of winning attitude that is required.

FUCK YEAH! USA…USA…USA!

The damn Donovan had me screaming and yelling when he put that goal in, however, it was an effort by the entire team, including Howard!!!

Damn, US surprised the hell out of me. Good shit

Man, England have a tough trek from now on. Most likely Germany next, then probably Argentina after that, unless Ghana and Mexico can pull something out of the bag.

Damn, Argentina is heading towards the semi finals for free.

Still not convinced by England. Rooney had a free shot on goal and still missed. Thats pressure for you. Glad that the US got through as well. We have got to pick our game up when we face the Germans or we will get crushed. (most likely group winner).

I’ve never seen Cappello so animated he looked like he was giving birth

Fingers crossed we don’t meet Germany next

England was a bit lucky to be honest, they played pretty well but when your trying to keep slovina at bay by holding the ball in there corner for 3 minutes it really shows where you are in the world game.

Personally i dont really think england has anything to fear from the germans, this aint the germany of the early to mid 90’s, and ghana couldn’t finish there fucking dinner.

Now the argies on the other hand that will be an interesting match, providing they can beat mexico.

England? If England were to even come close to the Cup let alone win it I would take my sandals and grill them and have them for dinner. They’re a solid team - been playing poorly these last few games but generally solid. For the last Cups though they haven’t really done anything that made me think that they were really going to move it forward.

The team I expected more from - go figure, so did everyone - was Spain. What a let down!

GG USA. Sorry for those disallowed goals - I was so upset to see that happen.

Mex v Arg? I’ve seen this game before last Cup & I’m calling it again - Arg wins.

I don’t think they were lucky, I think they were unlucky not to be 3 or 4 up by the end to be honest. From around the tenth to around the eightieth minute they played pretty well.
Rooney still seems to be really frustrated and doesn’t seem to be with it, though I think if he manages to knock one in it’ll all turn around.
