Got it. I will try some stuff with Chun/Strange/Strider and Chun/Nova/Strider to see what happens.
Thanks for the feedback, guys!

Has anyone tried Spencer with Chun Li? If so any feedback?
I’m trying to find the most effective Chun Li team, in terms of viable characters, neutral, damage output and team composition. Although I prefer anchor Tatsu with Chun Li, the characters that I feel would help her at full range (Strange, Doom; beam assist) would have a lack in overall team synergy with her and Akuma.
I’m tempted to run Chun Li/Spencer/(Doom or Strange) a la team Nemo or Coach Steve/Randomfiend, rawtags off slant shot- crumples TODing and saving meter. I would be having a lot of faith in Chun Li’s point ability, let alone my own haha, but think Spencer with either of the other two make a viable shell.
Alternatively, Doom/Ammy could be a possibility, but feel Doom Ammy are really just about follow my lead (and therefore merter reliant; may lead to a reliance on tacs for infinites for meter gain), with xf3 Ammy being the true trump card of the team.
I believe Chun that a Nemo/Coach Steve team composition could be viable: Chun conserves the bounces for Spencer to do his damage in the corner; the hard tags to Doom/Strange can do a lot of damage and build meter and Bolts is a great assist for Chun. But, if you lose Chun and Spencer, anchor Doom/Strange will have hard times against common anchors and Slant Shot is not that of a great assist for her incoming mixups as it is for Wesker or Nova (imo).
I’ve never thought about Doom/Ammy backing Chun, I think it could work. The team has 3 TAC’s; Cold Star might be a good lockdown for Chun (never really tried, but the idea sounds tempting); Veil of Mist and tagging Chun back in for a incoming mixup sounds cool too; you have a strong shell if Chun dies and a solid anchor. Also, Doom + Cold Star pressure in the corner is really annoying. Yeah, follow my lead is also a option too.
I truly believe my team (Chun/RR/Strange) is the most effective chun team. I also like the options of Doom/Ammy and Doom/Strider, but this team works in any order.
My thinking is that-
Strange has arguably the best dhc in the game so could warrant second place, with Spencer last.
Doom and Spencer’s optimal dhc position is the corner (proton array most damaging close to the opponent; bionic maneuvers gets a more secured confirm in the corner, tk’d zip and 80k extensions better there too). As Doom beam will help both Chun and Spencer, Doom’s best position may be behind them in this team.
@Arithmatic been watching your tech and footage even more regularly over the past couple of months, with other Chun players I could find (Lud, Brian Kasugano, Coon Li). My concern is with Rocket Raccon is his viability.
I’m not much of a fan off Vajra assist in neutral due to it’s vulnerability, but Strider’s comeback factor is decent. Would seem Spencer plus damage engine may help Chun’s damage output, and Spencer himself is good on point. But Doom/Ammy helps her neutral more, and offers more versatility.
Her damage isn’t really an issue though. The biggest problem is her compatibility with Spencer assist. It’s not that strong in terms of neutral. For 1 assist any dhc will break just over 1mil. And the reset and mix up options aren’t as strong with slant shot.
And what are you worried about in terms of RR’s viability? A great assist, amazing neutral tools, and (near) unblockable resets. Damage isn’t what you should look at first in terms of team building.
Raccoon is viable. But it depends on how your Chun plays.
IMO, the best assists for her would be Hsien-ko/ Strider; but we all know Hsien-ko is not viable and those two together don’t make a great team.
As a team, I’d suggest Chun/ Strider/ Strange, in that order.
Another option would be Morrigan. She can handle herself pretty well, great DHC options. There is a video showing good Soul Drain combos with Chun somewhere… Gonna try to find it later.
If your Chun jumps a lot, you can keep jumping and recharging your meter. If you are a rusher, then you can pick Soul Fist.
I hope I don’t sound arrogant, but you guys should stop playing her as if she was some kind of a she-wolverine. She’s not. Her dash is too slow to keep up with him.
Wolverine can work with many assists because of his godlike dash speed (and Berserker Slash/Barrage) but she’ll need to be mid-close to the opponent if you want a confirm.
That’s the whole reason why Plasma Beam or Arrows won’t help her. Stick with Hadouken, Soul Fist, Spitfire Twice and the likes of it. Maybe Molecular Shield too!
Every Chun I see keep rushing down all the time and mostly get caught while air dashing. You should position yourself better and try to block your opponent’s escaping paths. You got 3 jumps. Use them ;).
