I would rather a person not vote than for someone to vote to keep someone else out. That’s a fucking douchebag thing to to. Don’t be a douche, vote for someone you actually want to see in the game, or don’t vote at all.
Until we can fix the problem of people being dickbags and trying to refund their DONATION for god’s sake, it’s gonna be awhile before we can get people to not use their vote the wrong way.
This, I don’t understand. The whole point of voting is to determine our preferences. If I prefer all the other characters why shouldn’t I vote for one of them? One of them is getting in no matter what. The right to vote contains within it the right to vote against.
What if I like the other three more? I like Annie, Minette, and Eliza more than Aeon, and I only get one vote. I would like to see any of those three in the game equally, which is why I want to say “not Aeon”.
The key is intent. Voting Annie, Minette, or Eliza because you like one of them is vastly different from voting for one of them because you don’t like Aeon. Doing the later is simply wasting a vote; it’s a wrench thrown into the system that prevents an actual and fair vote. It also fosters bitterness.
By that metric, ranking systems are fake and unfair. After all, the person who likes Aeon the least will put her as 4 and 3, 2, 1 the rest. I understand people feeling upset or frustrated because people don’t like their favorites, but that is how voting works. Voting creates politics.
Want to test it out? Each of the following will invariably lead to a 20 minute discussion and someone being called an idiot:
Try to get more than 3 people to agree on pizza toppings.
Bring up final fantasy in a group of rpg fans.
Compare favorite beers with a group of 20 something males.
Ham and pineapple is for lazy communists.
If Final Fantasy VII is your favorite you bought the game for the graphics.
Light beer is for housewives and little girls.
I actually don’t see a problem with voting against a character. If you paid money and supported the game, you should be able to use your vote to influence your vote to bring the best possible option in your opinion, even if you don’t like that option. Imagine a voter in 2004 who strongly dislikes John Kerry but hates George W. Bush. Even though he doesn’t like Kerry, he hates Bush and is voting against him, because he would be happier if Bush wasn’t the President.
If someone doesn’t like any of the characters, but especially dislikes Aeon for instance, I don’t see a problem with him voting for Minette just to make Aeon less likely to win. To say that people shouldn’t vote unless they are enthusiastic about a candidate (or character in this case) actually doesn’t make much sense to me. I think it would be really silly not to vote at this rate.
Honestly I’m really excited about everything that happened, even though Beowulf and D Violet (my two favorites) got hosed. I’m voting for Annie now, but I’ll still be excited if Aeon or Eliza make it in. I can’t seem to get excited about Minette b ut it’s not like she can win both votes, so even if she does get in I’ll still be pumped. I just hope that the people asking for their money back don’t hurt the project at all
I wanted her to be playable within 5 minutes of playing Skullgirls. I thought she was a cool design. Personally, I’m hoping that her being a waitress will mean she’ll have some interesting assist options… like, maybe she can bring out some food to the point character that regains red life, builds up super meter or gives temporary stat boosts.
Supposedly, the final character has been decided. Accourding to Peter, one of the characters has gotten so many votes that even if everyone else that hasn’t voted all voted on one other character that wasn’t aforementioned character, this character would still make it in.
He didn’t say it’s statistically impossible for another character to take the lead, and I think he could have worded it better.
My take on it is more like “based on data gathered from previous rounds of voting, it is statistically unlikely that any other character will surpass the current leader.”
