The FINAL FANTASY XIV™ Thread: SRKGD's Goin' Balls Deep #Kreygasm

My god… bard is fuckin stupid easy to play… especially on pad when you got “auto face target on skill use” turned on. Who would even play with it off?

If your back aint turned, you ain’t playing a bard correctly.

Thanks for the Titan info Marn.

As far as money making goes, I have around 400-500k gil. I’m more curious as to how people are making the jump from simple farming of mats to sustain your wallet to having a huge surplus. Like kro said, spend money to make more money. Is it a niche discovery that only a small population is exploiting? Or is it just simply people who hit 50 of a crafting class early and are riding the wave?

Is the SRK FC going to start grouping for Coil btw?

A lot of it had to do with focusing on crafting and selling things when the game was new. Having all crafts to 50 also enables you to HQ things at near 100% success rate using NQ ingredients thanks to cross-class abilities.

I started ARR with about 10 mil and doubled it to 20 mil because I spent time researching what endgame players wanted. I sold all my gear w/cracked materia before people figured out how to speed run for tomes. I HQ’d new 45-50 weapons and accessories for 500-1000% profit. I bought out materia supplies and sold 2x-melded weapons for the relic quest.

The real winners were the people from 1.0 that had a hoard of coke, potash, animal fat, etc. That stuff could be bought for gil back in 1.0 at relatively low prices. Wish I had done that…

If you are a 1.0 player, let alone one who got to 50, you aren’t a winner of anything.

Kind of wish I rolled a class that wasn’t a tank now as my first class, such a pain in the ass to get into Titan runs and when you do, you have to watch 7 other people fuck it up for you constantly.

Hoooooly shit. I didn’t realize the huge advantage that 1.0 players got. edit - Wait, are 1.0 players confined to Legacy servers only or can they be on any server?

Goddamn. All I want is the Vanya robes and hat. Without getting a craft to 50, I guess my only options are a gathering profession, playing the market or killing sheep. Lots and lots of sheep.

Once some of these bustas get their acts together instead of trolling me when I log on

Quick Guides:

Leveling
FATE grinding is the fastest way to level at the moment. Here are recommended locations based on level:

1-13: No FATEs. Clear your Hunting Log instead.
13-21: Western La Noscea - Aleport/Swiftperch Teleport
21-27: Southern Shroud - Quarrymill Teleport
27-35: Eastern La Noscea - Costa Del Sol Teleport
35-42: Coerthas Central Highlands - Dragonhead Teleport
42-50: Northern Thanalan - Ceruleum Processing Plant Teleport

How to FATE successfully:

  1. Join party
  2. Check map for FATEs
  3. If FATE has existed for less than 2 mins, teleport/chocobo there ASAP.
  4. Get first claim if possible.
  5. Spam AoEs until FATE is 80% complete.
  6. Check map for next FATE.
  7. Repeat from Step 3.

Pro Tip 1: Stay in central ground so you are about equal distance from everything.
Pro Tip 2: If you are CNJ, unlock PLD and learn Flash to use as AoE. If you hit 30 and get WHM, don’t equip WHM gem (WHMs can’t use Flash). Stay as CNJ to spam AoEs. Don’t forget to re-equip WHM gem every multiple of 5 level to do WHM job quests.

Beyond Level 50
If you’re wondering what to do once you hit 50, check below:

  1. Finish Story if you haven’t. Post game content only becomes available after completing the final story battle in The Praetorium.
  2. Castrum Meridianum. You get 100 tomes of philosophy every time you clear CM. You use phil tomes to buy Darklight gear, from the NPC names Auriana at Mor Dhona (Revenant’s Toll Teleport). Generally, body and leg pieces cost 825 tomes each, hands/feet/head cost 495 each, and all accessories cost 375 each. Prices differ for tanks and mages because their body piece covers the head as well. Using the prices I listed for standard DPS roles, it will cost you ~5385 tomes of philosophy to be fully equipped in Darklight gear, which = 54 CM runs. I recommend getting the accessories first, then Body/Leg, then Hands/Feet/Head.
  3. While you’re grinding for phil tomes, go to Waking Sands in Western Thanalan to find post-game missions. Namely, the mission that unlocks Hard Mode Ifrit. Unlock HM Ifrit in the Duty Finder by completing the quest, and start doing runs. Ifrit drops a random weapon for a random job (100% drop rate) if killed. It’s a 1/9 or ~11% chance that it drops the weapon for your class. Keep doing Ifrit HM until you get your weapon.
  4. With your Ifrit weapon and a few DL gear, you can begin comfortably doing Amdapor Keep runs. You unlock AK by completing a quest offered at Vesper Bay (Where Waking Sands is). AK is the most important run you can do at this point, because it gives you 40 tomes of mythology (in addition to 80 tomes of philosophy) every time it’s cleared. You need myth tomes to buy your relic armor piecea. The prices for your relic armor pieces are the same amount as Darklight, except you use myth to buy instead of phil. You are capped at gaining only 300 myth tomes a week, so it will take 3 weeks to save up enough to buy your relic body piece, for example. 300 myth tomes = 8 AK runs. So it’s best to get your 8 runs out of the way early in the week, so you can do CM runs and other stuff for the rest of the week. AK chests also drop some nice gear to tide you over until you get more Darklights.
  5. Sometime between AK runs, go to Vesper Bay and speak with the NPC Nedrick Ironheart (He gives the quest for AK and others) to flag the Relic Reborn quest, which rewards you with your Relic Weapon when you clear the entire quest line. After speaking with him, go to Revenant’s Toll (Teleport) and speak with NPC Rowena. Then teleport to Fallgourd Floats (Northern Shroud), chocobo to Hyrstmill, and speak to NPC Gerolt.
-5a. Get the broken weapon from where he asks you to. Refer to the list below for your job/class:

-5b. Go back to NPC Gerolt. You now have to buy a special weapon and 2 level III materias to meld to the weapon. Refer to the list below for the weapon/materia you need based on your job/class:

I recommend buying the weapon and materia through the Market Board, then /search for a level 50 crafter who can meld the materia to the weapon for you. Return the weapon to NPC Gerolt.
-5c. Kill the Dhorme Chimera. This is an 8-man instance in Coerthas Central Highlands. Just teleport to Dragonhead and /shout for a group. Or go with FC/LS mates.
-5d. Go back to NPC Gerolt, then teleport to Revenant’s Toll and talk to NPC Rowena.
-5e. Clear Amdapor Keep. Just clearing it will get you the item. It’s not something you have to search for. If you’ve cleared AK before this, you’ll have to re-clear again. Return to NPC Rowena, then return to NPC Gerolt.
-5f. Kill 24 beastmen. 8 x 3 types. Check list below for your class:

Go back to NPC Gerolt.
-5g. Kill the Hydra. The Hydra is at the same place Halitali is (Eastern Thanalan). /shout for group or go with your people. After killing it, go back to NPC Gerolt.
-5h. Kill HM Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan. /shout for group or go with your people and kill them. If you killed Ifrit before for your weapon, you’ll have to re-kill again. The rest is continued from #6 onward.
6. At about 60-75% Darklight, go back to Waking Sands and flag the Hard Mode Garuda quest. Clear the quest to unlock HM Garuda in Duty Finder. Clear HM Garuda for a chance to get her weapon (same chances of dropping as Ifrit). It’s not a priority getting her weapon. The priority here is to just clear it, so you can get the clear for your Relic weapon and to unlock HM Titan.
7. Get 80-95% Darklight (By now, you may even have enough saved to buy a relic Body/Leg piece, go back to Waking Sands, flag and clear the Hard Mode Titan quest. Unlock it in Duty Finder and clear Titan. The weapon doesn’t matter at all.
8. Buy Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil. It’s 900 phil tomes, and Auriana sells them. You will need to buy this and go to NPC Gerolt to clear the Relic Reborn quest line and finally get your Relic Weapon.
9. Grind CM and AK until you have at least your Relic body and all Darklight, then you can begin The Binding Coil of Bahamut, the final endgame dungeon/instance in the game. You flag the quest to unlock BCoB by talking to Urianger in the Walking Sands after clearing HM Titan. Then you go to Wineport in Eastern La Noscea to speak to a couple of NPCs to unlock it.
10. Clear BCoB and work on getting BCoB gear. The Binding Coil has 5 levels, or “turns.” Each subsequent turn is harder than the previous, obviously. You need to be armed to the teeth and skilled to comfortably clear Turns 1 through 3. I know nothing about the last 2 turns.
11. Level 2nd class, or level crafting class, or make dat paypuh~, or chill/wait 'til 2.1 in Nov/Dec.

Adding all this shit to OP for future reference. Might add some vid links of some of the dungeon/boss fights, so some of you don’t go in blind/naked and have your party call you a scrublord and ragequit on you at the final boss.

Also, I see @Neesa has abandoned us and returned to her other friends on… Hades, was it? For shame :shake:
Still haven’t seen @Oerba online, ever. Oh wait, you said you were in school atm, right?
Some of you that aren’t in the FC/LS, if you see one of us running around in the world, ask us for an invite. Or just friend request X’shtola Starwinder and ask for an invite.
Edit: and @Grimmjow316

That shit happened to me too. Wasted my first 10 hours, was so fucking mad

If you aren’t super far into it, you could try re-rolling.

I haven’t been on FF for at least 3 weeks.

What?! Why?!?!

Oh yeah, since y’all buttmunches don’t seem to like skype (We only have 4 ppl in there, only 1 being active), we can try Mumble. I’m working on the server and pugging Turn 2 at the moment.

I would be active but my laptop hasn’t been very co operative as of late. I didn’t even Know we were doing that yet.

“Thinking using Skype was a good idea”

This guy…

Story of my life man. I can’t get a titan group as a tank to save my life. And when I do, like once every 3454 days, no one wants to stick around for more than 1 or 2 wipes, one person leaves then it just snowballs.

Yeah I’m really regretting leveling a warrior, seeing as paladins are 200x better than warriors in every way that matters. Warriors seem like a tanking after though to me, useless abilities and mediocre CD’s compared to paladins. That and the FC already has like 5 level 50 tanks for whatever reason, seems kind of pointless. Everyone is always shouting for dps and healers, people only need tanks for AK runs pretty much. I’m just gonna use my war to get quick ak runs every day to collect my tomes and just get my summoner/scholar to 50 as soon as possible. If warriors don’t get any significant buffs in 2.1 then I’m just gonna drop it pretty much.

You guys sound rather unlucky on those Titan runs. Ran 3, all ran smoothly so far. That or I’m just lucky.
I’m a white mage, btw.

Heh Monk Darklight is still Banana Yellow.

Suck to be you.

I need tips for the second and third bosses in Qarn.

For the second, it seems like it’s inevitable that a dps is going to die. I would raise the dps guy after the boss’s soulstone was destroyed, but by the time they got up, they would get one-shotted and die again.

For the third boss. I have no idea of where to stand to avoid all that laser fire when four, or how ever many it is, start going off at the same time.

Absolutely the WORST fucking item in history.

This game needs a fucking style option.

I REALLY REALLY hate that god damn color and gear.

I rather have huge ass prayer beads, and some type of chest harness than that top.

Also anyone know what is the market like for food? I don’t think it rides as heavy but being hood rich is good enough for me at my current standing.
