The Final Fantasy XIII series thread. Black people sold separately

ALL ff games need towns, period. i know that i’m not the only one that feels this way.

No towns wasnt a problem. I just didnt want to visit the same computer console every damn time. Break it up please. A weak customization system and lack of gil made the shit worse. I’m down for linearity as long as the ride is amazing and worth it. XIII wasn’t worth it. Ass story and characters didn’t help. Only well fleshed out character was Sazh IMO.

I’ve been a fugitive in other FF games and still visited towns. Besides the story in XIII was the other major aspect of the game that made it fucking boring so that sure as shit didn’t help the over all problem.

Soooo in all seriousness I’d be expecting Versus XIII out late 2013…MAYBE…

Nomura Interview on Final Fantasy Versus XIII

They still aren’t going into full production on this title yet.

Huh I suspected KH3 to come out by 2015…this sort of fully proves it.
I just hope FFV13 delivers ^_^;

God it’s the new Duke Nukem Forever. Highly anticipated game that’s been in the works for years and no one still knows a fucking thing about it. That shits as good as Vapor Ware to me until they announce a release date. I just don’t give a shit anymore.

I was always surprised at the amount of people that expected Verses 13 to come out so soon after 13. Though I guess them announcing FF13-2 and it’s scheduled release being in the same year is a bit more of a surprise. But still, I never once expected to play Verses 13 anytime in the near future. Especially since they hadn’t released any game play footage until this year.

Because it was announced as a launch title back in 06 iirc. I especially remember that XIII was supposed to drop in the beginning of the year, then the Japanese version of Versus WILL drop in the winter of said year. But this was back in 07. But since then I haven’t expected much. Especially when Nomura said the earliest (and least likely) we’ll get KH3 is 2014. So I threw my hopes for release out the window. Still shooting for the GOAT game though:tup:

But yeah, I’ve never waited this anxiously for any form of entertainment before. If it fucks up then I believe I can’t hold faith in any product besides my own. And I will constantly strive to redeem that work forever in my mind, umpteen times over.

I don’t recall hearing a specific release date but I won’t doubt it. The lack of info up until this year just told me to put V13 on the back burner for a while. Or at least to not get my hopes up about it lol.

Did any source ever explain snow’s role in 13-2? Having him in the background letting serah prance around unexplored gran pulse with a pretty boy-after risking his life all last game to protect her- sounds like a very unbelievable start to a weak premise.

I still can’t believe they are making a sequel to 13…
It’s like they choose on purpose the ff games with the most annoying character casts and give us the pleasure of watching them in another game.

Funny that with all the CGI and graphics and voice acting, I cared more about the cluster of pixels that are characters in ff6 than I care about every character in 13. (Actually I did care about what happened to the characters in 13 in that I wanted them all to die a painful death)

Really?

Lighting was a mean douchebag. Snow was a characterization of a self proclaimed hero. Sazh was the most normal one, but he was there for comic relief. Don’t get me started on Hope…Vanille had a terrible voice actor and didn’t make any sense, i mean go back and play the game and watch her reactions…Fang was the most normal but had no personality. I mean which character do you relate to?

I’m just throwing it out there. I played the game for serah-for reasons no deeper than she was pretty, and she wasn’t even in the playable game. That’s saying something.
The main cast was very 2 dimensional, and the english translated dialogue took me back into watching 1990s old school anime where I get preached on about obvious storybook facts of friendship and togetherness.
These guys are just part of a really recycled old archetype in a predictable story that became so formulaic and obvious. No kidding! You could almost make a formula on the story progression: story advancement scene>character interaction>ponder about self and weight of the mission with the exact same atmosphere each time>“I will save cocoon/serah”>character interaction>rince and repeat. And don’t even say all games do that. This is just like packaged by a machine presenting what they think conditions human emotion.
I want to play the JP version though, but I doubt the translations that much different, but at least I can pretend they’re talking about something better.

light eventually opened up to her comrades, snow was parading around like that because he didn’t want to look back at the people he let down ( i.e: hopes mom ), hope was being realistic given the situation he was in. i mean, godforbid my mom died and i was forced to be shipped away from my home just because i was next to something foreign that was labeled taboo. he was obviously suppose to be peachy. vanille voice actress is ass, still don’t see how she wasn’t well developed. fang was pretty much the only non-devoloped character in the cast. now go back to FFX or FFVIII when only 2 or 3 people mattered throughout the main story.

also, just because i didn’t relate to them doesn’t really prove much. i don’t play RPGs to relate to characters.

The character development was obviously subtle. The world’s problems evolved way past the main story, so that was a given. Auron said it was Tidus’ story for a reason. Only one who didn’t change was Auron and even then there was a reason why.

Release date for NA is gonna be Jan. 2012-

EU will most likely have the release date at the same time =)

Damn ff13 getting mad heat. The towns not being in the game ok–I like going to towns in ff also but it didn’t make or break the game for me. Besides most of the ff are linear to a certain degree. ffx was one of the best ff’s right?? and that shit was hella linear compared to that classic ff9. No airship=linear or some type of instant warping system.

The only thing we can get mad at is ff releasing on 360, that is the sole reason why the whole game wasn’t like gran pulse. The developers had to re build the game from scratch so the 360 could support the game. Im not being a fanboy of any kind Im just saying this is why the game felt so linear.

There are pros, like the fighting system which I enjoy maybe not as much as the gambit system but i do like the speed of battle even for battles that take a lil time.

I welcome 13-2, and it seems like we wont get Versus for a minute but you see all the care they putting into it. Those gameplay vids we got was awesome and that was just a rough build ok I can wait. Guess what its a ps3 exclusive so it should give us the freedom we had in ff12. again no knock on 360.

after all this time its ff, every ff has something you love and somethings you hate. like i know peeps who swear by ff8 but me i cant stand it. I like ff9 better and there are peeps who think Im crazy for hating 8 but loving 9. I can tolerate 8 cuz it had some of the best cut scenes ever, especially going from disc 1 to disc 2 and disc 2 to disc 3 was just crazy epic!!

ff13 does feel rushed but there are tons of breathtaking parts in ff13. Yes fix gil/weapon grind shit and lets have towns to explore and really thats about it.

My question is what is ff13-2 story suppose to be?

Goddamn I want my fucking Versus XIII. I want angsty bishies and cars, not… whatever FF13 was supposed to be.

@Rodimus, from what we’ve seen in the videos
Time gets fucked up and Noel and Serah are on a quest to fix it while at the same time help the citizens with their new life on Pulse.
At the same time, Lightning, in a possible future, is fighting for survival while at the same time trying to fix time as well.
Thank you sir, Im all in for this game!!
