The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

Actually, it’s far LESS of a BS win for Cloud. Seph actually goes for the kill but Cloud straight up prevents him from getting it, rather than Seph standing there overconfident and shit talking, even allowing Cloud to get up which ultimately owned him in AC.

In AC Complete it was more like this:

AC Complete

[details=Spoiler]- Cloud goes for Omnislash.

  • Seph counters Omnislash, does Million Stab on Cloud. Tries to finish him but Cloud kicks off his chest and escapes.
  • Zack talks to Cloud, Cloud gets his resolve, charges again with Omnislash, turns it into Omnislash v.5 mid attack (Remember, Seph is used to single-sword Cloud and had NO clue he had SIX) and wtfpwns Seph, who is completely unable to counter it, defend it or stop it. He was fucked.[/details]

Eh, that movie was nothing more than fan service. There’s no way I’m going to pick up an extended version.

I own the Advent Children Complete and it explains everything that the movie should’ve explained when it first came out a couple of years ago. It shows how Kadaj and Co. came to be, Reno and Rude’s justification for helping Cloud, more in-depth on Denzel’s story, Geostigma is explained in a better and logical way, and it sort of explains a little better about why Cloud is the way he is after the game.

This is definitely something i wouldn’t pass over.

I’ve always had that problem about Sephiroth…honestly, if he just actually tried to kill Cloud instead of sitting there toying with him, he would have conquered the planet already and went on to create his new shining future.

However, since he’s so arrogant and enjoys to hang the meat in front of Cloud and tease him only, he’ll always lose since arrogance is his ultimate weakness. I hate it that script writing is up against him, however he is ultimately the antagonist and we are supposed to have happy endings anyhow.

Yet, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen these insanely more powerful FF antagonist and yet they lose to people with a fraction of their abilities. Ultimecia for one baffles me seriously, if she can manipulate time and all that, what’s to stop her from “easily” owning Squall and the gang…and yet at the end, she’s forced to basically repeat herself by losing, it’s weird yet laughable at times.

Lastly, Advent Children was not a fan service, it covered up plot holes in VII the game. Firstly, in the end-game of FFVII, it gave you a what the hell happened to everyone? Since it just ends abruptly and you seeing XIII with his cubs 500 yrs later. Leaving you completely scratching your head wondering what went wrong.

AC actually closes up some things with characters, because end-game in VII, Cloud was still trying to get to Aeris somehow, and not to mention the entire debate of Sephiroth and Jenova garbage that went on for years with the theory bs, that AC finally seals up once and for all.

This was hardly a fan service but really gave a more better closure then VII the game did, and also, I feel that VII the game and AC should really be viewed as a one whole storyline piece, since it’s about Cloud as a whole, so by playing the game and watching the movie, you really do get a whole story satisfaction.

ACC is definitely much better at doing the job then AC did without a doubt.

For those hoping for a FFXIII demo with blueray Advent Children Complete like Japan, don’t get your hopes up. :shake:

So because the game is going multiplatform in the US, Square won’t release a PS3 version demo because they don’t want to play favorites (translation: draw any ire from Microsoft). The English release may have a trailer, though.

:tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup:

I’m glad I’m not the only who likes this movie this much. ACC is much better then AC though no doubt. Hell the whole expanded conversation with Rufus is worth price of admition from a story aspect.

I doubt Squares too worried about Microsfts ire

About the Ultimecia thing, the main theme of FFVIII is fate, where you can’t escape your past or escape what is inevitable.

…it’s not a GOOD reason, but it was there to cement that theme into place.

This pretty much concretes what I hate about Tina.

English VA is so bad :frowning:

in what?

FF7: ACC. Or maybe just AC in general.

Actually the dub is pretty good with some bad spots here and there. Mena Suvari is too breathy as Aerith. Very annoying.

has anyone played 12 yet? i lost interest 1/3 into the game… it kinda reminded me of skies of arcadia for dreamcast so i was kind of flabbergasted that square enix would take the same concept. lol

Once you start getting your gambits, you’ll probably get your second wind and push through the game.

That’s what did it for me anyways.

Rufus sucked hard. Tifa sucked. Most of the dialogue sucked. The brothers communicated with nothing more than grunts and chuckles. Sephiroth’s voice seemed so out of place, like you could tell he was talking in a quiet room. Kadaj’s chin was stupidly shaped. Rude’s baggy suit sucked. Skin tone was generally fucked up.

The movie pretty much sucked except for some of the action scenes. What a terrible followup to FF7. Loved the million stab though.

I liked Aerith’s voice in AC, now when Mena did it in KH2, THAT fucking sucked. I hear the girl doing her voice in CC was really good, but I never played it so I couldn’t say for sure.

Mandy Moore doing Aerith > all though. If only they found some excuse to get Aerith singing…singing Mandy is way hot. :lovin:

About FFXII, it’s fucking awesome. Keep playing.

IGN Squeenix interview:

IGN: Is Dissidia the start of an ongoing franchise; will we be seeing something like this coming to the PS3?

Yoshinori Kitase: We have no immediate plan to release this game on any other consoles, partly because we believe that one of the most attractive features of this game is ad-hoc. As an idea it’s very attractive, and we’ll certainly look into it.

IGN: We’ve seen Final Fantasy III & IV on DS ? any chance of V & VI making the move?

Yoshinori Kitase: We haven’t a plan to release V & VI, but it sounds like an interesting idea so we’ll find out if that’s possible.

IGN: Is the compilation of Final Fantasy VII finished, or is there more to come from that universe?

Yoshinori Kitase: In Japan, the Blu-ray version of Advent Children has just been released. That’s meant to make a mark to end all of these productions. But, all these games of FFVII have just been spawned off the cuff with small ideas; one idea just turns into another. In this sense, there’s a possibility we might end up creating more FFVII games in the future.

IGN: A number of people have asked whether the original Japanese voice track will be available in the Western release of the game.

Yoshinori Kitase: Regarding Dissidia, because it’s a UMD, the voice takes alot of memory - if we wanted to make that choice available, we wouldn’t be able to squeeze it onto one disk ? so at the moment it’s not possible.

Yoshinori Kitase: Obviously, when we talk about XIII it’s for PS3 and Xbox ? with PS3 being on Blu ray there would be enough memory, but on Xbox probably not. At the moment we’re thinking of releasing the voice in English only. Are there many people who would like to play with Japanese voices?

Personally, I would love to see a remade FF6, as it is my favorite FF game.
They’ve milked the FF7 franchise, but I have to admit that I wouldn’t mind seeing another 7 spinoff or two. As for the voice language options… I greatly appreciate the having the option of being able to choose between the two languages, but I’m not incredibly picky with being stuck with just the english track.

I personally prefer English dubs (if it’s good). It’s not like there aren’t any talented non-Japanese VAs.

OK I’ve got a few questions-
1- Has Crisis Core been released for the PS2? (Odd question I know, but I’m just checking)
2- What’s the difference between Advent Children and it’s new ‘version’?

Nope, only PSP release, most likely will never be a PS2 release sadly.

Over 30 minutes of new footage, or near that I believe, plus it gives you more intimate details on parts where the original AC didn’t do as well. Not to mention, they did one thing that I was pleased with…they made characters get dirty! Like for instance in the original AC Cloud vs Sephiroth battle, Cloud was being knocked all over the place…yet he was as clean as whistle.

In ACC they took the time to get his clothes and face dirty, which was a nice touch, because before, each time Cloud went flying through a building and walking out of the debris, it looked like he’d like he’d had just got out of a manicure place and hadn’t broken a sweat at all.

ACC basically improves and does everything better then AC originally did.
