The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

^ Yea I think that’s how you do it. Set the character to build ap whenever a party member took dmg then you killed them off by fighting the beasts that could one shot you, revive and repeat. But like I said been years since I played the game so I forget exactly how the trick worked.

It’s way better grinding in the International version because of the Monster Arena.

bump

is x-2 good? i checked online i saw guns, PHOO PHOO niggas, haha

im almost done with x im fighting sin a third time on the airship, but leveling up is good, i found some place omega ruins, monsters are beast i want to stay hear and level up but i need to try and get lvl 3 key spheres first since im all out.

this game is dope but i doubt im gonna try and do all the side quests since i usually play if theres still story left. but damn this game is dope.

DOUBLE CAST!

here’s a tip for omega ruins.

get yojimbo, have auron with ultimate weapon. leave yuna out. if y ou run into a great marlboro, then switch out auron to yuna, summon yojimbo, and ggpo marlboro

FFX-2: Story sucks, gameplay is good. Also has a lot of sidequests. Overall, I’d recommend it because the actual game is so much fun.

As for FFX, the Omega Ruins weren’t even remotely hard. 90% of anything there got insta-owned by one or two attacks.

My new warcraft3 name is ff12makesnosense.

Anybody else feel it was a horrible game done very well? Thats the best way I can put it.

FF12 was an awesome all around game in my opinion. My only gripe is that there were places that you wouldn’t have known about unless you did some of the sidequests and did alot of the hunts. I may do it on my next playthrough.

I really want to get FF12 International because in that version you actually get to make the characters play in actual classes IE: knight, thief, black mage, white mage. and so on…

Agree with this. That was my only complaint with FF12.

EDIT: I know this is an FF thread, but I just started playing Vagrant Story again and it still blows me away. No way in hell a game should have looked like this on the psx. Shit still holds up today. I guess some VS discussion wouldn’t hurt since it takes place in Ivalice

I’m not sure if it’s been brought up yet, but a bew Dissida trailer states it’s going to be released in 2008. No new characters as of yet, save for Tidus and Jecht, but I think we can expect some HUGE updated after the Square party in August.

FF12 was basically FF: The offline MMO version. The world was very vast, and, honestly, it brought a whole new meaning to the terms “farming” and “grinding”. If you didn’t mind the mostly crap story and was able to tolerate mark hunting/farming for bazaar items/rare monsters/items/etc., than I guess it was a pretty good game. It’s either a love it or hate it kind of thing, and I personally think it’s one of the lesser FF games.

I agree.

The story was CRAP, the cut scenes were never anything special, and the voice acting was souless.

I didnt like the extremeley pastel and boring art style either. It made everything seem really vauge and unimportant. Just very uninteresting. Then there was Vann the androgenous little boy. (Xander)

What really got me though, was that basicaly 50% of the game is sidequesting but almost impossible to play/discover without a strategy guide. where is the sense in that? The powerful weapons, Z. spear, etc, pls…Like that alot of the secrets and sidequests are not very well made or intuitive either, its just like, you have to find this irrelevant person on the other side of the world that would never ever appear important or related to your quest. Not only that, they blend into the boring, pastel beige art style and look just as unimportant as everybody else.

Then there’s the great crystal. Jesus…I’d rather chew tinfoil. Room to boring room movement, like this is resident evil one or somthing. Then you just run into a room full of bombs??? wow, how creative and fucking frustrating. I got excalibur, but wtf, it like so many other good chests dont even give the item 100% of the time.
Wander through aggrivating hell for 20% chance at an item, then more walking to make it respawn? ugh. Plus when you get all those good items, if you do, the game is basicaly over and you dont get the fun of putting them to real use. And a huge feature of the game, half the combat sytem, Espers, are useless so wtf
(cept zod)

The one good thing about it though is that it plays forever and ever, and the combat system is sweet with gambits. Still, the entire game feels like pennance for some greater glory to come around, but it never does. I think teh vagrant story creator has a sadist complex or somthing.

After playing FFXI the grind in XII didn’t bother me. Battle system felt like a mix of X-2 and XI’s. Gambits performed how you wanted them to, there was no worrying about having to tell someone how to play the game properly, such was the case in XI.

I agree, story in 12 was weak. Bottom tier in terms of FF storylines, I’d even rank it below X-2’s. I was disappointed considering how X’s story was awesome. Yeah, FFXII end game was pretty annoying with the zones you had to go through. I did almost everything in FFXII JP version outside of fighting Yiazmat but by the time I played the game again, this time the NA version, I couldn’t even finish be bothered to finish the Pharos - Subterra area. I didn’t even bother with the Henne mines or Crystal zone again.

Story in FFXII was excellent. It’s a very non-personal story that focused more on the world rather than a character (though then again I’ve never been fond of the “everything in the world revolves around a few people” type story).

It also felt non-existant. The gameplay to story ratio is so skewed towards gameplay that it was hard to enjoy it.

Voice acting was great too, I thought. Definitely one of the best jobs so far.

I still don’t see the parallels to MMOs though. Never have.

Absolutely, it’s an unfinished mess.

Serious who was the genius that thought it would be a good idea to let enemies wander into the battle :wtf:

I’m playing FF9 right now and the difference between story, maturity, character interaction and development is night and fucking day. It’s a pity square let this game go the way it did.

But don’t I play rpgs so I can control and be involved in their tactics without letting an AI program do it for me?

The same people who made WoW, RO, Vangard…every MMO ever.

Yeah that certainly didn’t make fighting off a giant snake in the mines easy when not only does it appear in front of you in the new generic mine area, but enemies are not displaced at all so you got 12 generic skeletons and 5 generic bats.

I;m starting to see a theme here, generic enemies and generic locations in a game that tried to be a MMO, hmmm :wtf:

You can use manual control. The whole game. Nowhere in FFXII were you forced to rely on Gambits.

This has never been a minus point, as the alternative (full hands on control) has always been available as opposed to the oh so horrible Gambits control, which only really presented itself after a few hours.

This would be a great point if the game wasn’t so focused on using gambits.

Oh you don’t want to use our awesome gambit system? Ok, just stick with a system we didn’t do much focus on as well as gambit system, good luck lol.

You can switch them all off.

All.

And never use them.

Ever.

In fact, if you input a command while Gambits are on, your commands actually take over whatever the Gambit was going to do.

Through the whole fucking game, Manual Control > Gambit.

Twit.

How do you manage to miss the point so well, almost like you are incapable of logic
