if youre choosing to equate character with “willingness to accept money to cure the disease,” then i still dont see how it says anything negative about their character. unless you’re implying that accepting less money from an anonymous source earlier is more ethical than the very likely possibility of accepting a lot more money later thanks to sustained relationships with wealthy people (not just those whose privacy was directly affected, as i already said) even though the former would be detrimental to the goal of funding research in the long run.
in any case, my point was that its contradictory to expect the foundations to accept money from anywhere, for any reason as long as it goes toward a good cause, but then expect them to be put on blast when they’re actually considering the longterm damage to their funding. i dont know why you even brought up the feelings of celebrities.
This isn’t serious enough to warrant anyone who would actually consider donating to cancer research reconsidering.
If they sincerely wanted to donate out of the kindness of their heart, I doubt this would make them change their ways.
If they wanted to donate for good publicity and to have a sort of “charitable” image, this still wouldn’t matter.
In the case of this, your argument doesn’t really hold water.
And the charity it’s going towards, prostate cancer, isn’t exactly high up on the celebrity or even public charity donation list. It isn’t breast cancer or leukemia or anything like that, it’s still cancer, but it isn’t very “mainstream”. The only reason a celebrity would make a sizable donation to the research of prostate cancer would be if they have had personal experiences with it themselves or through loved ones(which would be a reason that leaked nudes wouldn’t deter), or they just lazily picked something to throw money at because they’re either nice or want to look nice.
And let’s be real here, this money isn’t coming from a ring of child molesters and/or rapists, it’s from a bunch of regular ass dudes who looked at a bunch of naked celebrities.
4chan is shit, celebrities are shit, and op and all you new jack, hype stream scrubs are the dogs breakfast as far as I am concerned. Wouldn’t even be cool if said breakfast was the cat’s ass.
No matter how righteous you think any money going towards a charitable foundation should good money, the big boys at the top arent going to jeopardize their relationships with the wealthy because, lets be real, those are the people that line their pockets. It all comes down to money. They are not going risk a petty $6000 reddit fund and potentially lose out on millions from celebrities choosing another charity.
TBH, even though charities are for good cause, I feel a lot of it is bullshit. A lot of your money dont end up where it needs to be because your dollars are used for their heavy marketing, executive compensation, and administrative expenses. I read somewhere its like 30%-50% of every dollar.
Im sure there are celebrities donating becuz they genuinely really care about the cause, but there are alot of other reasons they donate. For one, its a PR move. You donate, you look good, gain more popularity, make more money, the ball keeps rolling. Also tax breaks.
Basically this whole shit is turning down the cliche path with now people trying to make money off it.
Oh but he is doing it for the art.
Plus yes those charities will not accept that money because there would be a massive backlash towards them either way, but it then breaks down to what Yoh! said; pissing off regular joes or kissing ass to the super rich who bankrolls most of the funding? Guess who is going to win.
I am about 99.9% sure none of these women planned or are planning to throw thousands of dollars at fucking prostate cancer.
Breast cancer? Good chance.
AIDS/HIV? Possibly.
Leukemia? Maybe.
Prostate cancer, a disease that only effects males and barely gets any kind of publicity whatsoever, and isn’t exactly a “donate to improve image” kind of charity at the moment? Nope, unless one of them has had some personal experiences with it. If they did, I’d assume the emotional struggles of dealing with knowing someone who has or has died from the disease will probably take priority of the charity accepting money from a bunch of e-perverts.
The FBI has more important things to be doing (like investigating the Ferguson, MO Police Department) than looking for one tech-savvy perv who probably doesn’t live in this country anyway…
The issue isn’t really that “nudes” were leaked, but that somebody demonstrated being able to compromise the servers of American companies in such a grand way. Whomever did this inadvertedly released an ad that says “I am the next greatest potential and internal technological terrorist, here are some titties.” While Hollywood does have a huge amount of pull, the fact that such an act was commited by an american against americans shows the world that our technological security is super free to random people. Considering that the government is already stressed out at the potential of a hacker fucking them over, any act resembling this is one that’ll put you in the FBI and BRAZZERS PRESENTS: Hack My Anus gangbang with plenty of DoD cocks all up in that ass.
For our blacker members, I’ll translate this into hood: this nigga stepped on the brand new Air Jordan’s of the US government, this gon’ be the biggest nigga moment ever.
For our asianer members, I’ll translate into tiger mom: this idiot just told other parents that he hasn’t studied in a week and was just pretending to play the piano, and the U.S. government has something for him: Crouching Tiger, Hidden asswhooping.
For our browner members, I’ll translate into spanish: Que importa lo que hagamos, de cualquier manera nos van a dar. Si tu madre no tenia la mano suelta antes, ahora si que te jodiest porque el vecino se quejo.
And finally for our white friends, I’ll translate into crackah: somebody did something and then you call the cops, but since you’re white the cops will actually do their jobs.
Unfortunately the whole thing is turning into “They shouldnt have stolen the pictures in the first place!” instead of “These celebs shouldnt have left incriminating photos in literally the least secure part of the internet!”
Yeah there is definitely blame on both sides of hackers and the celebs. Trying to send viewers to the gallows over looking at a picture is downright preposterous. Celebs and mainstream media are loading a blunderbuss of finger pointing because they dont know who to pin the blame on. They dont seem to understand that you cant hold the internet as a whole as guilty for this. The internet is nondiscriminatory and will spread anything and everything to all four corners within hours. It is an abyss where if something touches it, it shall reside there for all eternity. There isnt a single picture/video/any kind of media that hasnt been replicated thousand fold here. Expecting us to all activate white knight emergency protocol because somebody with more money has their tits flying around isnt something that will ever happen.
