Well the difference is that stolen money can be recovered, either trough the bank itself (since, at least here, they’re responsible for the security of their own systems and liable for any loss of your funds) or insurance, and at the worst case scenario, you can always recover your money working, on the other hand, a nude picture can’t be recovered, the damage is permanent.
People have been dealing with theft or robbery since the dawn of time (especially in places like here in Brazil), so we have insurances, we have security measures and we also learn how to just “deal with it” and earn the money again.
Only now people, even common, non-famous people, are starting to realize that once your “private” photos or videos are leaked to the interwebs, it’s done, there’s nothing you can do about it, so, in my opinion, the best way to be safe is to NEVER do this kind of thing, EVER.
Except what kind of “damage” is there? For most celebs, all they lose is a pay day.
In the end, if you were really so disgusted at the thought of others seeing your naked body then why did you take such pictures in the first place? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not victim blaming here but at the same time their holier than thou attitude during this really annoys the hell out of me.
I was thinking more about the cases of common girls that had their lifes screwed by ex-bf or whatever, with the release of their private photos and videos online.
Here in Brazil there were two recent cases of girls commiting suicide after their videos were leaked online (one of the girls was in an orgy, so it adds a little irony to the whole thing)
That is literally fucking victim blaming, theirs more than a payday lost here. Theirs emotional damage from your private & intimate space being violated & then people saying “Oh hey it’s your fault for having them”, that’s where the damage lies. So yeah fuck you for getting annoyed at their holier than thou attitude for being violated.
Theirs a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig fucking difference from people seeing a nude covershoot you specifically do for the public & nudes you take to be intimate with your significant other.
And fuck you right back. You want to do something for your signficant other? BE with your significant other. They appreciate that more than a pic or two they’ll quickly forget about.
So you know what? Fuck it I will victim blame here. Too many people bitching about privacy without understanding what the fuck real privacy is.
That’s the funniest part about it. So many of them are mad about the iCloud hacks, but will that stop them from getting the newest iPhone/iPad or an iWatch? Not really…
I’m not an Apple-hater, mind you. I just think if the brand device you use became a serious hindrance to your personal things, then you should at least think twice about using it or at least how you use it.
People just see shiny and get it. That’s how consumer products have worked since the dawn of time. Me, I’ve never been one to get the “new phone” craze. I just want functionality. Why the hell do you need a new phone every couple of years?
Emma should troll everybody and post up the leaked photos, only to be her fully clothed. Or some other girl that doesn’t look remotely like her. Nudes of Harry Potter in that other movie he did.
Offline. Disconnected. Cold storage. Selfies of your butthole… or important financial records, or whatever else you don’t want publicly disclosed, shouldn’t even be placed under the stress test of passwords or firewalls or etc. People need to be smarter about computers/networks, and stop listening to that nasally voice on TV preaching about “the power of the cloud.”
Especially since they were the ones which had the text message encryption which made the UAE salty as all fuck. Blackberries are really solid devices, they just aren’t toys in the same way that all of the touch screen phones are.
