The End of a "Empire"?

Probably only a couple. There were a lot of people in Empire you’ve never heard of

his idea was right but his execution and planning is what did him in imo…can’t ride on just playing video games in this day ans age.

Um… I don’t know the inner workings, but I’d have to assume it has something to do with the fact that Triforce never had a business plan worth a damn.

EMP got players involved (mostly at VERY young ages), because they all wanted to be good at games. Coming up in New York, if you wanted to be good, you played with Justin, Art, Sanford, Jeron, etc. Back in the day, you didn’t NEED to join EMP to do this (I certainly never did), but it was a kinda cool thing to do, I guess, just to rep NY.

In SF’s dead years, the EMP name meant something to people (not me… I always thought the “idea” wa retarded… Shout out Team Hate, BTW…), so I guess some people were interested in joining. Triforce got players into “contracts” (I would bet money they weren’t notarized), during this period.

Once SF got popular, Triforce was in the position of already having business dealings with some great players. Again… I don’t know the inner working here at all, but just knowing what I know about the guy, I’d have to assume he overstepped his position, and tried to get better deals than these players were really worth. At this point, Triforce was like a manager, I’d have to assume. He would step in, to try to broker deals… and fail… or simply sit on his ass and not do shit, and as players watched other, less talented players, with less time put into the community, get better deals… it only made sense for these players to leave EMP, and they did… one by one.

While I did always think EMP was retarded as an organization, it was cool as a way for players to bond. For that, I’m sure it’ll be missed… and even though I’ve always thought Triforce was an absolute clown, I’d never wish failure on anybody, so I hope he can pick himself up, learn what he needs to learn from this, and apply it to whatever he does next.

I love how you made more sense in 1 post than Triforce has in most of his “career”.

Best of luck to Yipes with Brokentier (and shit, Yipes stepped up his MvC3 game from what I saw at SummerJam)

Hopefully the good players from EMP find deals somewhere. But really if Sanford/ Dieminion, (insert name of other 2-3 players) go with a new crew/REAL sponsor, why would they reform under the Empire tag? It’d be like going to see Wu-Tang with the only folks there being U-God, Cappadonna and Masta Killa.

Worst of luck to Triforce. Have fun at that retail gig!

Yipes in fact did say he was going on Brokentier and that is a very smart move for him. Honestly, I don’t know too much about the matter and how things operated behind scenes, but this wasn’t a surprise. just sucks when you put a lot of time into something and you ultimately have to suspend/terminate it for whatever reason. I remember Triforce had a show air on MTV a few years ago, that was kinda cool…in a way…lulz.

You have to give Triforce credit for working his ass off to try and get Empire somewhere. Then you have to take all credit away from Triforce for being really stupid. It’s really that simple. Dude busted his ass off, but didn’t know what the fuck he was doing and still doesn’t.

Triforce wants to run, before he learned to walk (in the business world).

Just look at their main website “FAQ” section.

http://www.empirearcadia.com/main/faqs

It says " Empire Arcadia Inc. is the first nationally organized development company for digital culture and competitive entertainment which service the video game industry to develop new markets in gaming"

He wasn’t just trying to build a team, he was trying to build a whole new god damn industry.

Where the fuck did he get the idea that his ass (with no credentials) can create a whole entire fucking INDUSTRY.

No shit your business model flopped. There was no blue print for you, and you’re clearly not smart enough to create one. That shit was destined to flop.

ALLEZ CUISINE

i got nothing, after seeing how he never took care of his fucking players, its good riddance

I ain’t surprised that this happened at all. Triforce just wasn’t mature enough to carry out his own grand vision. He had some shining moments and did some respectable things, but he just didn’t have that level of professionalism to pull it off. The “Empire” was entertaining to watch, but I never saw them as a legit organization.

FRAY

all i know is that this nigga pushing 40 with a nintendo power glove on. like c’mon son, get a fucking job loser.

EDIT: also why is this old ass loser saying “fighting game division” like he had any other fucking divisions to begin with? this clown is a joke and if i see him irl, i’ll toss this joke a best buy application. i can’t respect no guy pushing 40 wearing a damn nintendo glove. my uncle pushing 40 with an damn crysler 300 and this loser have this dumb ass glove on. like my god, tri force is a fucking joke.

Eh, Hard to respect a 30+ year old man wearing a power glove as anything. Dude could be Bill Gates and I still couldn’t respect that.

I always found the power glove kind of awkward to wear when I was a kid. Props to Triforce for growing into his at least.

Who the fuck cares.

Welcome To Life Triforce.

Pray You Bounce Back Quick With A Better Foundation Before Its To Late.

You Had Something Special, You Had Most Of The Best East Coast Players Under You.

^ Why the fuck do you have each word starting with a Capital? Shit looks weird. It’s like your entire post is a title of something…

Anyway, I watched a video where TriForce was like “9-5’s are for idiots.” Then a few seconds later you see him bagging up grocery’s at a 9-5. Someone find and link this video, cause I can’t find it. It’s pretty funny.

Ever since i was like 10 and first started playing Marvel 2 at a local arcade, I’ve wanted to be a pro player. It was later in life that I learned about Jwong, and Yipes and all the big names tied to the game/label. It was my dream for the longest time to be part of that team.

It’s sad to think that at age 17, one of my lifes goals have ended. Oh well, I was a stupid 10 year old anyways.

For those who don’t know what Empire Arcadia is.

I will also add that, as a person who knows some members and former members of Empire, as well as a person who knows the owners of some of the businesses they tried to connect with, that a lot of companies that would have otherwise done business with Empire didn’t because of Triforce. He’s kind of a joke in the industry, and it’s not really hard to see why.

And, as HAV beat me to saying, it’s pretty clear he doesn’t really have a business plan, structure, or any kind of real business sense, at least not as it applies to gaming. He had some grandiose vision or something, and he managed to get a lot of the top players in America on his roster, but he did absolutely nothing with it. Compare, for example, with Gootecks and Mike Ross. Look at what they’ve done in less than two years with primarily only themselves, versus what Triforce did with what was at one time dozens of players, over around a decade.

Honestly, I’m shocked it took this long for it to come apart, and I think the only reason it did take so long is because people didn’t want to be the first to jump ship and leave their friends behind, especially some of the founding members. Here’s hoping the players can move on and do something better with themselves. They don’t have to be guilt driven to stick around a sinking ship anymore. Maybe they can have fun playing games still.

I agree totally with HAV and WARP.

I just feel he didn’t have any true understand of business and ultimately money. I had issues with his business model for the decade of more of knowing him. Bmore Chun and myself spoke with him at a past ECC and his vision was slightly shady and unstable. I can not understand how at one point you had the roster that could have brought you everything you needed yet everyone jumped ship over time and ALL had the same complaints.

Another issue I had was the ‘they live here to hone their skills’. That’s not business. That literally sounds like some Pimp type move. If you going to do business I can not see you trying to maintain the life of a house full of people, you life, BILLS, and your ‘business’.

Warp wonders why it took so long. Cause you work what you have to sustain. As players left your income lowers. He didn’t have to have his “9-5” or “3 to close” as you stated cause he had the players and little contracts bringing in the money to sustain LIFE…not business. When main income left it was up the next top player to keep up the income. Tell me that doesn’t sound pimp like?

He didn’t have focus. Bmore chun stated to him and I remember waaaaay BEFORE this film came out that he shouldn’t wear the power glove. THIS IS FIGHTING GAMES. He literally laughed it off and said “I should be able to do what I want to do and they [sponsors] shouldn’t care” I’m sorry, if I am Capcom or any video game person I wouldn’t want to deal with you if you clearly sporting a brand not associated with my business.

Lastly… that film put the nail in the coffin. I don’t see why he couldn’t notice the film showed him in the worst light ever. It made everyone that knew of you via rumors, community chit-chat…etc. come to believe it. I’m sorry but it did and he stuck behind it hard core.

He had a vision. Yes he did… just didn’t do what he need to honestly to do sustain it and separate business from pleasure AND life. I hope the best for the remaining FIGHTING GAME PLAYERS (cause I don’t know everyone else i kept seeing) and I hope they get their LIVES together first before trying to run and find a sponsor to help sustain their pockets that may have (only going on assumption and some knowledge) been dry for some years.
