The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2011 thread (info in OP)

nah I’m not a journalist. Just a guy that really loves the game industry lol. I think it’d be interesting to be a journalist but then I’d have to deal with gamers who try to discredit anything you say just because they don’t agree with you on one game.

Edit:

Ninty has been replaying it on their own channel

Wii U looks baller. And reports are coming that the tech inside of it is actually pretty damn beefy.

Skyrim saved E3 for me. Having random events and enemy spawns and seeing that footage of a dragon swooping in to snatch up and drop a troll in the middle of a fight was pretty awesome. Makes you have to be more aware of your surroundings so you aren’t grabbed by one flying by while you’re busy exploring the environment.

Other than that I thought all the press conferences were meh. Although that might be a case of the older you get, the more jaded you become. Sure there are the games I’d like play, but nothing mind-blowing. I think the last time I shat bricks was when I saw the Gamecube tech demo of Zelda at Nintendo Space World 2000.

I can see the potential in Wii U’s controller, too bad we’re most likely not going to get anything really substantial when it comes to games and not just demos until TGS this year or E3 2012. I should add that I don’t want Sony and MS to copy Nintendo’s strategy. ie. Placing a screen on the controller. Copying Nintendo’s motion controls is enough, I don’t want to own a bunch of half-assed tablets that aren’t fully portable. Maybe Sony could have Vita + PS3/4 function similarly to the Wii U but I dunno if devs would support that idea and would rather just treat Vita as a portable PS3 machine.

At the same time if Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles turn out to be nothing more than a CPU/GPU/RAM and storage space upgrade then I might just stick with PC gaming. In today’s age unless you’re 1st party there should be no reason for a dev to not go multiplatform and at least port a console game over to PC. With digital distros and services like D2D, Steam and Onlive publishers get a couple guarantees going PC. One, they don’t have to pay the console manufacturers a royalty fee for every copy sold and can set their PC versions at a lower price and two with no hard copy they eliminate the risk of used game sales.

Sheeeeit, G4 needs to have Andy Allo on all the time. That girl is PRIME time.

I’m still recovering from yesterday’s PSVita footage. Future generations of gamers REALLY don’t know just how good they have it. Some folks will forever be blinded by the nostalgia factor though, and the previous generation will always be “so much better” than the current one…just like most of the folks that bitch about the modern era now…just watch how they suddenly will say this era was a “Golden Age” while saying the new era sucks.

Anyway, I eagerly anticipate the system-war commentary… it seems most people on forums like to pretend they’re above it though.

*the art style on Rayman Origins looks nice… it’s not often you see a great cartoony visual style in games these days.

This era sucked as far as video gaming(too many damn FPS just for the sake of being safe), the Gamecube/PS2(2nd best game system of all time next to SNES, nice exclusives)/Xbox(well kinda… nothing from OG XB impressed me)… was a good one…

N64 and PS1 was meh at best save for a couple of classic games like MGS…

SNES had excellent games, NES had insanely hard and ball-breaking games but still fun…

EDIT: Gameplay is being thrown out the window in favor of superficial graphics… graphics age(these ones will eventually look like crap sooner or later compared to new ones), gameplay stays constant…

cant seem to find the trailer for the new smash bro’s.

What trailer? All I saw was somebody promising a smash bros game at some point in time

No trailer.

More than likely you know it’s going to happen especially if the system becomes successful. Microsoft and Sony are going to have to do something to counteract it especially if it leads to good exclusive content on the system. Whether they decide to completely copy cat to just even the playing field or actually get ‘inspired’ to do something slightly different is going to be the interesting thing.

I need to try to find out when the roundtables are going to happen

i’m also looking for the smash bro footage at e3, they showed it for about 20 seconds.

So far I see:
Asura’s Wrath: Acceptable!
Devil May Cry: nyet
Darksiders 2: doyoyoyoyoyoing

Wii/mircosoft/sony imo

New console are getting less and less hype. I’ma need company’s to release new consoles with a flagship title.

sofar only titles im looking forward to are rage, Tomb raider, and ME3. Anyone got that Asura’s wrath trailer?

I found some Dark Souls gameplay.

I don’t remember any footage of Smash during the conference. They only mentioned that they had a version of it in the works for Wii U and 3DS. Shit for all we know this could almost be like the same situation from Brawl:

Iwata: BY THE WAY…WE’RE MAKING SMASH!
Sakurai: sitting in the crowd oh that’s awesome! I wonder who’s making it?
Iwata: turns to Sakurai in the crowd and smiles =D
Sakurai:…?

Lol, that was an amazing moment. Wii U looks cool, I will definitely get one just to see how this bizarre system will function, Nintendo really likes to go with different. As long as the online mode isn’t in the dark ages this time and I can party speak (Vita you did it! YAY!) and some kind of point achievement system (I really find this more enjoyable than trophies, personal opinion) and no stupid friend codes and I will be a happy duckling.

Imagine Mario on this new system, where his Mustache has like individual hairs for once…aww snaps.

I really want a Vita…if the line-up initially is good and support really comes out punching, I don’t want to do what I did with the PSP (Or people are with the 3DS) and buy the console and one title then twiddle my thumbs for a few months.

Oh wait…uh…apparently 1 of the roundtable conferences is going on now. It’s not being streamed but it looks like it’s going to be live blogged.

apparently it’s supposed to have started at 5:30

Ok yeah…the roundtable is late…according to Gamespot’s live blog they are just now letting people in.

no Doom 4 news

Im a sad panda :frowning:

…I’m hoping there’s a no homo planned?

I am waiting for a game to completely change shit up. Something epic. Something beyond games we were playing on PS2 and XBox just with better graphics. This entire gen has actually disappointed me.

Anyone seen any Rage footage on E3?
