This was my issue if Clinton got elected.

People have a really hard time telling the difference between party nominations and actual state elections I see.
When the Democrats fuck over their own primaries they’re harming the democracy within their own party, and for the people who’d like to support Democrat-aligned ideas that’s really bad, and surely it should be condemned. They only fucked themselves over with that anyway.
When the Republicans try to fuck over the actual presidential elections however they’re actively harming the entirety of the state, the constitution, and the rule of law at large, not just their party or the people who are trying to work inside the Republican party. That is a couple of magnitudes worse, and severity still matters.
Whataboutism is easy and the Democrats haven’t helped themselves, but that still doesn’t help with the crisis of democracy that your country is currently facing.
Here’s the thing: you should criticize the Democrats for their shitty behaviour, the argument here is that the equivalence between Democrats and Republicans is still fundamentally false, and criticism of Democrats should wait for when the Republicans aren’t in the middle of trying a coup.
