Does Ed really have no answer for EX bullhead. -5…cant punish jack shit bc of stubby normals…except with super when v-triggered?

Ed is fun but his combos and normals leave a lot to be desired. His cr.MK doesn’t always work with stuff if its max range cr.Mk which sucks. Also if you anti air properly using KK you have to adjust timing for the power dunk back down. Takes some getting used to. I appreciate his easy mode anti air tho. Otherwise he doesn’t have much going for him. Gets blown up by rushdown pretty easy considering the startup of said ez mode anti-air. I gotta give him more time I guess.

Stick or pad? I found Decapre’s much easier than this on pad. It’s more because I get accidental random psycho upper too often. I have my lp set to the square button so it’s kinda hard to press cr.mk plus lp at the same time unless I have lp set to a shoulder button.

I wish that you could set the same input (lp for example) to multiple buttons like you could on SF4. That way I could set it to both square and L1.

Sleeping hard

Yeah I feel like I am with him. There’s gotta be something I’m missing really. Like I said he is definitely fun to play and honestly not having ANY motions for moves opens up a whole different kind of playstyle. Reminds me of 3DS SFIV.

So far my successful strategy to play him is semi zoning with fireballs, then if close enough I use charged v skill because it’s +3 on block. I can use that to frame trap with st mp (6 frames start up). I feel like his psycho knuckle should be at least +1 on block instead of -2 now.

Ed is super strong. His frame trap game is incredible. He is a nightmare up-close. He can zone at long range thanks to psycho spark xx psycho shot or nothing. His aa are strong. But I feel that the key to succeeding with Ed is to master his mid-range game. His normals don’t have the best range and priority but he has very good mobility. I’m having fun so far ! But I’m still trying to figure out how to use his vskill, except in combos of course. It’s too risky and kinda random.

What frame traps are these? I’ve seen nothing in his game to really suggest he’s anything but middling or slightly above in terms of frame trap game.

His best frame trap seems to be st.mp but it’s hard to convert anything besides phone booth range or a simple sweep on CH.

His st.hp is a decent frame trap as well… but you don’t really get anything. The only thing I can really think of is cr.hp xx fmp at decently close ranges.

Am I missing something?

His frame traps need to be close is the problem…which is why he’s pretty good in the corner…but everyone has something pretty good in the corner. the fact he has to bully his way to get any real damage since he needs to be kissing the opponent to get real damage, it’s easier said than done against the top half of the cast who have god buttons and can mash crush counter heavies with low risk huge reward. Otherwise you can only do s.hp or c.hk if your at max distance on counter hit s.mp. There’s nothing to be afraid of just block the first mp… since the push back there’s no risk of tic throw… sometimes i do s.hk to bait a crush but i been beaten clean many times by some random buttons…same with s.hp.

He’s got some nifty v-trigger setups but only one shot at that mixup when a ton of chars get super saiyan mode, or 2 setups to go for the mixup…and the mixup doesnt do alot of damage compared to others without super. Although it is a fair bit of damage. Not X-factor Balrog.

I mean if they buffed his normal’s and range more, he’d be more in line with season 1 Nash. Those types of changes would do so much for him. He’d still be honest but more reward for playing footsies.

v-trigger needs more range moreso on charged v-trigger… or perhaps the longer you hold it the farther it reaches?
His psycho upper needs better range so it doesn’t whiff.

charged lvl 2 HP should have more range and more frame advantage. The charge before the superman punch…which i consider lvl 3.
I think KK needs no crush state… I mean his buttons whiff enough already should i eat 300+ damage for his unreliable range?
I’d like the initial orb on the psycho spark to have a larger hit box to be better use in footsies.

I feel like the gonna nerf his throw loops before they buff him in any way and i gotten a lot of mileage out of them…kind of makes up for the unreliable range on his moves…bc it’s fun and dirty >:)

With that said, i have enjoyed my with him…doubt i’ll keep up with him when Abigail comes along…unless he gets some buffs…

I think the only buff he really needs (and in saying so, it is early to be suggesting buffs but whatever)

I’d like his PP to hit from max range or near max range cr.mk. Keep his KK having pretty shitty range since he can up damage it by spending meter on the air followups, but PP at the very least should have more range via a bigger hitbox or simply going further forward. The move is basically useless outside of combos so it could do to at least have decent combo range.

Other than that the only thing I could really want for him is a bit more range on his throw.

Can we get this character a voice overhaul?

You win on trade with gief in charged heavy punches. Ok it happened once and i couldnt believe it so i did a grab instead of any combo.

What in the world is the audio supposed to be on his missed grab?

C.mp has such little push back. You can c.mp, counter hit s.mp, walk forward c.fp xx kk, p or pp.

Is it just me or do Ed players abuse throw ALL the damn time??

If by abuse you mean ‘‘hey, this guy doesn’t tech’’ then yes.

You have any other suggestions for how Ed is supposed to open people up? His throw game is his life blood. Without it, he literally loses to down-back.

Not enough JP I assume, j.MP adds a lot IIRC. Try Flicker instead, might work. If not; raw super.
