The Easiest and Hardest Characters to use in MVC2

This is a question that’s been bugging me for a while. I’m not asking what characters I should play as. I’m simply asking which characters have the lowest and the highest learning curves.

it really depends on what you’re talking about. If you mean execution wise, I’d say learning iron mans fly/unfly combos are hardest along with sentinels. Magneto and storm are right up there, especially if you want to be flashy. If you’re talking about being able to play at a tournament level, you will need to spend more time (imo) with the lower tier characters to overcome the gods(storm/sent/mag/cable).
Are you asking for first things to learn as the character? Flashy stuff? basic combos for 2 of the gods would be like this: Storm’s would have to be a trijump>HK ground series to launcher air magic series lightning attack x2 into lightning storm. Mag’s is probably his ROM and 5 fierce combos. it would help if you were a bit more specific, or named some characters you were thinking about so it easier to break down the question and help you figure it out.

Depends wether your including execution or defence / error free gameplay as part of your criteria - i.e anakaris, strider
Most people would have IM, Strider, Magneto, Sentinel - with reflies, and Dhalsim

For a new player just starting out I 'd say Sentinel and Magneto

What means hardest to use? If it means harder to win with, the worst 40 or so characters are the hardest ones…

If it means hard to master, then Magneto, Cable, Sentinel, Storm, IronMan, Strider, Doom and all other top tiers… as everyone else just does not have enough options to be good.

I’ll add to his question. I’m a total MvC2 noob, I’m great at MvC3 but I want to go backwards just for fun. Who are the easiest, viable characters. I’m not asking for the gods, viable as in not Roll or Servbot tier. I want to ease my way into the game, gotta have a team first

cable and cammy are pretty easy. You could try using a Cable/Cammy/character with a good projectile assist as a beginner type version of team scrub(cable/sent/commando)

Well, in general, when I play with my one friend who has MvC2, we avoid the big four. I dunno why, we just do. It’s not like we’re good enough that it matters anyway, I can barely do Magic Series into launcher, air Magic Series  I’ll definitely try Cammy, a team I was trying last night that seemed easy was Anakaris/Spiral/Cyclops. I only really practiced with Anakaris, haven’t even TOUCHED Spiral yet, so I might replace Spiral with Cammy. Does this seem like it would be a fairly good team to learn the basics with? Keep in mind, I’m spoiled by MvC3; Dante combos are easier to do than MvC2 Magic Series

Dhalsim is pretty hard to learn. Cable is pretty easy, but at high levels he’s hard to win with if your blocking and defense isn’t on point. I’m assuming you mean execution wise. The lower tiers are easier to play, but that’s because they have considerably less options, so their combos and execution is usually pretty straight forward. I’d say for the easiest team composition, use a random low tier and back them up with Psylocke. Doesn’t get much easier than that

for spiral ideas, you can look on my youtube. I have a few spiral combo stuff and vids with another well known spiral player, Vidness. Anak/sp/cyke i know nothing about. anakaris is a tougher character to learn because his moves are so much different than other characters, i wouldnt suggest him to start. If you’re running cammy I would say do cammy/(someone)/Psylocke like branh said. Psylocke is a really fast character, you should try to get the handle of wavedashing down for both cammy and psylocke. Use psylockes Anti Air assist, if it hits, you can dash up with cammy cr.lk cr.hp(launcher) into magic series drill XX hyper for a good amount of damage.

if you are interested in getting decent in this game quick, LEARN SENTINEL FIRST. he will save your ass sooooo much, and his life will be good damage soak/meter build for your second character.

get fast flies down, and rocket punches into HSF

Thanks for the responses! I will definitely check you out on YouTube, Diet. I’ll try out that team as well, possibly replacing “someone” with either Cyclops or Blackheart. I main Dormammu in MvC3, so learning Blackheart should be similar, I think. As for Cyclops, I practiced with him a little. I don’t know how hard his actual combos are, so I just got St.Lp St.Lk St.Mk St.Hk xx (I think it’s QCF + Lp, his directable beam special) xx QCF + DK. I’ll have to see about Sentinel,I hear Fast Fly is one of the hardest things to learn, I don’t know though. You guys have been playing the game for 10 years, I’ve been playing for 10 days (not even, but you get the point). Thanks again!

spiral teamd with anakaris …hmm if you play spiral you need a good ground assist so that you ken get swords and cover you but for anakaris you most likely want an anti air assist that allows you his curse loop so you have to take spiral y assist and anakaris throw assist the timing for his curse loop using spirals y assist is quite diffrent to louncher + assist lk mk curse … is more like jump lk+ assist lk land rejump curse repeat …
and pick anakaris in throw assist can be tricky for spiral so you can chip them into throw assist and repeat that …anakaris is a low live char so you will put a lot of work into him to get him to a usefull char but if you like that go for it … you must be able to do his curse loop otherwise they will not fear you at all …

Thank you! Anakaris has been dropped. Away from PS3 now, will search for new people I like soon

Well, the easiest characters are the ones where there is a certain comfort in exectuting their combos. Ryu as you know is the staple for beginners, as he really defines BASIC. His moves are quite simple, no need for a lot of directional inputs (at least none you havent done before in previous games) and mobility is farely common to most beginners. The hardest would be those who have more complexity to their game, such as airdashes, tridashes, etc. These would include of course Magneto, Storm, IronMan, etc. It isnt neccesarily this which makes them harder to learn, its just this is a vital part of their game so this is something you have to learn and quickly adjust to. I’ll give some characters to start out with as a bonus: Ryu (Shotos) Juggernaut, Cable (I know…) Cammy/Guile/Charlie, MegaMan, Wolverine, Colosuss, Morrigan, RubyH, SilverSam, and maybe Felicia. These are generally easy characters to play with, as their moves and mobility are not difficult to control such as Storm or Magneto. Basic combos, basic air combos and basic gameplan…

i think magneto and storm a re quite easy to learn …sentinel is quite hard … chung li is extrem hard … or ken is hard to learn 2 …
cause if you pick ryu or juggernaut or someone else you mentiond you will get eaten alive so offen before you learnd anything …
but if you play the top 4 yourself you can say hmm this anoys me or if they pushblock this or that …because you know what their gameplan is going to look like … …and still just because you know what they are up to dosn’t mean you can stop them from doing so thats why there are top mid and bottom tier in every game … hardes CHARS ARE SERVBOT AND ROLL … cause it is so hard 2 win using these 2

He didnt mean ease or difficulty of winning, he meant which characters are the easiest and hardest to pick up.
