He probably wasn’t “patient” enough with the battle system.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ken’s Rage but I will say that it’s not for everybody since not everybody is as patient as those who enjoyed the game like I, EmblemLord, and a few others, with the seemingly slow and clunky battle system at first. IIRC, the Japanese had to be even more patient with the grinding because Intrinsic Skills that unlocked Roll, Jump, Grab, etc. Cancelling had to be unlocked whereas the NA and EU versions had it unlocked from the start (Thank God). Anyway, once you start unlocking the character’s movesets and utilizing cancels, you’ll realize how really enjoyable the game is due to how open ended the system is and how everybody has their own unique style.
And Dream Mode was where the real fun begins, because it gave us a chance to fully utilize the characters in full scale tactical DW-like combat and also witness interactions between characters who never really got to talk in the manga/anime. Big shoutouts to KOEI for using their imagination and also making the interactions feel natural as well. IMO Ken’s Rage set the bar for any anime Musou like game just from Dream Mode alone, it should be considered a sin if Kaizoku Musou doesn’t get a Dream Mode. Hell, I’m even wishing that Racjin (the company that developed Bleach Soul Resurreccion) gets help from KOEI to make BSR2 and have a Dream Mode like stage in it.
I woulda liked the japanese version more since I like feeling like I’m unlocking my chars true potential. Also I heard tiers are diff in jap version. Ken is worse from what I heard and so is Toki.
From the top of my head the Japanese version has less blood. And don’t forget that the Japanese version had an “International Version” of the game as well.
I don’t know much, but I’m assuming that the Vanilla Japanese version, the NA/EU version and the International version have their own differences, in terms of moveset tweaks as well as some minor cosmetic changes.
i havent played Hokuto no ken’s musou game, but is it off of the Manga or Anime? i’ve yet to read the manga…and i’ve finished the anime a while ago~ i just dont want to feel confused if i get to a certain arc or anything…thx~
In terms of the anime, the game is based off of the first season of Hokuto no Ken, from the beginning up to Kenshiro’s and Raoh’s final battle so don’t worry you’re not missing out much, although I recommend that you finish reading the manga.
ahh okie, the manga…damn, i’ll have to start it…=_= and its long…hopefully with no filler like the anime did. I do want this game though, i guess i had not got it due to peoples horrible opinions on said game. anyways i’ll do so check this out, and read the manga~…Mamiya’s frankensteiner ftw~ lolz
It’s the manga, aka the original source material, of course there’s no filler. And why let other people’s opinions affect what you’re going to purchase/play? At least try out the demo to see if it’s your cup of tea.
i’ve seen it in action, and it looks awesome, though the last musou game i played was 6 empires. BowGun/Blade…best weapon ever…lolz i liked it. i wanted to get DW7 but i didnt understand some of the mechanics and didnt get to play a demo of it.
edit:and yeah it was silly of me to think there was filler in the manga~ haha though sometimes i feel like im getting trolled when i read others…
Really liking Gundam Musou 3, especially since every battle takes around 10 min to finish.
How do I increase Tiffa’s friendship level? I’ve had her asn operator for over 20 battles and she’s stuck at Lvl. 3.
now seeing the songs that got added with the current dlc, guess i’m glad I didn’t bother taking a chance. Only really 1 song worth listening out of the DW6 songs. Surprisingly enough, I can’t remember most of the songs I liked from DW5.
Probably just going to ditch this game after I get all the achievements. I need to go see DWG2 anyway before I get DWG3.
So I played through the 3 Kingdoms on DW7…and I honestly feel that the Wei story shined this time around.
Xiahou Dun was badass…completely IDGAF mode. Down with Cao Cao to the end.
Dian Wei was badass…his death in the game was great. Down with Cao Cao to the end.
Xiahou Yuan had badass moments in the game also.
Zhang Liao was badass also…love steamrolling Wu with him. Wish I was able to gut Soon Shwaainn in story mode.
Wei (And I suppose Jin to an extent) has definitely been my favorite kingdom ever since DW6. When I played through DW3-5, it seemed like they always tried to pin the “villainous kingdom” cloak on Wei since it seems like they’re making ambition = evil, which is not true at all. When I played through DW6, that’s when I started liking them even more, not because of the officers that made up the faction but mainly because of Cao Cao’s vision he had for the land, which is one where anybody can be successful if they just put in the effort and if they’re ambitious enough. He was truly a man ahead of his time. It is no surprise why Dian Wei gave his life to save Cao Cao and also why so many great and talented officers gave their services to him.
Sure Liu Bei’s “benevolence” (lol) is fine and all but what good is benevolence if it sacrifices the common peoples’ potential and room for growth? And what happens to those who have been working hard their entire life and those who have been slacking off? So now I have to give a portion of my land and my paycheck to the lazy ass fool who gets high off of opium all day at the edge of the province because it’s “fair” and it makes everybody happy? Liu Bei’s vision for benevolence to me assumes that everybody HAS to be a “winner” which to me is wrong because like I said previously, there’s no room for growth. In Cao Cao’s vision for the land, there are both winners and losers, and if you are a loser, you can still strive to better yourself. Another of the main reasons why I like Wei, or Cao Cao’s vision the most to be exact is because it mirrors how our society is today for the most part. Want to be successful in life? Either you work your ass off getting a degree and eventually get hired, or hone your athletic skills to increase your chances of getting into a professional sport, invent something beneficial to society, etc.
Sun Quan’s “I just want to protect our people” is fine as well but it just screamed, “BAWWWWWWWWWWWWW, MY KINGDOM IS NOT AS SUCCESSFUL AS THE OTHERS, SO LET’S BACKSTAB SHU IN THE BACK!” to me. Shu may not have been my favorite kingdom, but they certainly did not deserve the treachery they’ve gotten at Fan Castle. If Sun Quan truly wanted peace for his land, then why did he provoke Shu in the first place by killing Guan Yu? They weren’t threatening them in the first place and those guys wanted peace as well. I just don’t see the logic in that. Seems to me that Sun Quan was just insecure about how miniscule his kingdom’s successes were compared to the other two so he felt that killing him would make up for that.
And the part of Zhang Liao’s honorable demise, well I have mixed feelings about that. Part of me screams “Man fuck you Sun Quan, you pussy ass,” while a part of me says “In war, you play (fight) to win. Sun Quan played it smart for having his officers back him up while Zhang Liao was stupid for assuming it was going to be a 1 on 1 fight and for going at it alone.” Well at least Sun Quan admits he’s a coward, and I certainly enjoyed his growth.
If you read the book Wei are the bad guys and Shu are the good guys. To this day my mom still thinks Wei are the bad guys… I like you guys have grown fond of Wei as I play the games, but still Cao Cao is one crazy bastard. His hands if stained with blood from both good and bad people.
