DW7XL is an expansion of DW7.
Has new features not included in the original DW7.
DW7XL in itself is a standalone game.
If it works like SW2XL…I think you can play story mode with the 3 added characters: Guo Jia, Pang De, and Wang Yi.
More info…source .
New Weapons
These include new weapon types for the new characters, as well as for decloning some characters
[]打球棍 Batting Stick - looks like billiard stick with its ball (Guo Jia’s EX)
Normal attacks swing the stick to hit enemies. The ball can be placed on the ground and be used to damage enemies further
[ ]朴刀 Scimitar (New decloned EX weapon for Xiahou Dun)
Variable attack can be launched even when being hit
[]筆架又 Giant Fork/Sai (originally planned to be DLC -> Wang Yi’s EX)
Able to guard from enemy attacks even when attacking
[ ]龍槍 Dragon Spear (New decloned EX weapon for Zhao Yun)
Excels in combo hits; enemies can be easily juggled for more combo
Charge attacks can also be canceled to C1 sweep
[]偃月刀 Crescent Blade (Decloned EX weapon for Guan Yu)
Executing C1 will imbue normal attacks with fire element temporarily
[ ]双矛 Double Pike (Decloned EX weapon for Zhang Fei)
C1 can blow away many enemies
Treasure Weapons
[]Very powerful weapons that are obtainable in Legend mode; they have high attack power and lots of slots
[ ]Requirements for getting them can be checked inside the stage descriptions
[]Example: The treasure weapon for Crescent Halberd, 剛覇方天戟, can be gotten by playing Lu Bu’s scenario in Chaos difficulty, then defeating Zhang Fei and other generals before Liu Bei retreats
Residence Castle
[ ]Legend Mode has a residence castle which acts as a hub for the mode and also reflects the player’s progress status
[]The player can walk around the castle just like the base camps and cities in DW7’s Story and Chronicle modes
[ ]By clearing more stages, the castle will be developed further, adding more buildings and people around it
[]The currently selected playable character will act as the viceroy of the castle
[ ]Another character can be selected as the adjutant, which will manage the residence castle. The castle’s atmosphere will gradually change depending on the newly selected adjutant
[]The adjutant also has other perks depending on the character chosen, such as making prices cheaper or giving out items
[ ]The viceroy (player character) and adjutant can be changed anytime
[]Access to battles is done by speaking to the city official inside the castle
New Modes
Legend Mode
[ ]There are two kinds of stages in this new mode: Hero Scenario and Legend Scenario
[]英 傑伝シナリオ Hero Scenario that shows story which focused on the characters rather than kingdoms. Specific focus will also be placed on the new characters
Hero Scenario also has the Seamless event-to-play transition that was present in DW7’s Story Mode
[ ]レジェンドシナリオ Legend Scenario allows players to play past stage maps that had been remade for this game
[]Confirmed past stages so far:
DW3 - Fan Castle
DW5 - Wu Territory (seen in 2nd PV)
DW5 - Guan Yu’s 1000-li Escape
DW5 - Mt. Dingjun (seen in 2nd PV)
[ ]There is a residence castle that will act as the hub of the entire mode (details explained above this section)
[]Treasure Weapons can be obtained by clearing certain requirements (details explained above this section)
[ ]When the residence castle has been vastly developed, a special event battle may take place, which if cleared will lead to the ending
[]Some treasure weapons will be also available to unlock only after getting this ending
Challenge Mode
There are 4 types of challenges here. 2 of them have been confirmed as of current
[ ]彗星 Comet: Defeat enemy by blasting them outside the area
[]暴風 Windstorm: Defeat as many people as possible within a time limit
[ ]迅雷 Thunderclap: Reach the goal as quickly as possible

百花 Gathering: Defeat generals that keep entering the arena
Online ranking will also be available
2-player tag mode is also available here; The scores will be combined and they have a different ranking table from the single-player one
New Gameplay Features
New Actions
These are added as the new max-proficiency actions
[]無影脚 ‘shadowless feet’ - Attacking while moving at high speed
[ ]転身 ‘turnover’ - Evasive maneuvers when being attacked
General Rank
[]As characters grow up in strength, they will also improve their general ranks
[ ]In order to get general rank promotions, specific objectives will have to be done, which get gradually harder as the player advances to higher ranks
[]Increment on general rank will bestow things from special ability to additional equipment on the character’s costume
[ ]Military books can be bought to instantly power up characters. So players can use their most powerful characters to farm the money and then power up other characters with that
Tactic Scrolls
[]Tactic scrolls can be bought to instantly power up characters. So players can use their most powerful characters to farm the money and then power up other characters by using the money to buy tactic scrolls
[ ]It seems that you can not only increase the basic stats (Health, Attack, Defense), but you can also buy instant deeds and even increase stats that determine weapon proficiencies (Power & Speed) as well
Mixjoy
[]Mixjoy is done by swapping with the DW7 disc back and forth. As with all previous XLs, Mixjoy needs to be done every time the game is restarted
[ ]Mixjoy is required in order to play Story and Chronicle modes
[]Story and Chronicle mode will be playable using any characters and co-op
[ ]Of course, DW7XL’s new elements will be reflected in the DW7 content (such as Guo Jia getting unique)
[]Additional character conversations are also confirmed to be added in Chronicle mode
[ ]The amount of money acquired, Weapons that are acquirable etc. will be adjusted based on the currently selected difficulty level
Others
[]A new difficulty level harder than Chaos, 究極 Ultimate, is newly added
[ ]Moveset attacks are being re-evaluated and will be rebalanced accordingly
[]Character stats and skills can be reset to starting values
[ ]There is no Edit Mode (aka Create-A-Warrior)
[]There are no Opening & Ending Edits here either
[ ]EX weapons are not to be changed by the DLC weapons
[]Online co-op will be also available in Legend Mode and the now co-opable Story Mode
[ ]Progress made from the DW7 save data can be imported to XL. Details on this are coming later
[]XL will have its own trophy set from the main DW7 game
[ ]XL’s trophy set can be completed by itself without having to Mixjoy with DW7
[]Playing the Mixjoyed Story and Chronicle modes will not unlock the original DW7 trophies
[ ]XL will not have its own DLC. However, the DLC for DW7 are also usable in XL. Some of the DLC are also only accessible through Mixjoy (probably like stages)

New characters will also have original costumes. It is unknown though whether their costumes will be added by getting the respective kingdom’s costume set or if there will be a brand-new DLC pack dedicated for them
The whole Mixjoy thing still bothers me because really…do we NEED to be swapping discs each session when we have DLC capabilities?

Feels like SF4>SSF4>SSF4AE> 2012.
Just wait until I get XL then they do Empires, and then XL EMPIRES!
That’s how it typically goes for Dynasty/Samurai Warriors…
Warriors > Xtreme Legends > Empires.

I usually just pick one.
With 4 I went with XL.
With 5 I went with Empires and didn’t touch the other two.
With 6 and 7 I went with just Warriors.
I did that too with Samurai Warriors 2:XL.
I thought it was a more complete version of Samurai Warriors 2…until I realized I can’t play Story Mode with the remaining 26 character, and not get their 4th/5th weapons without the orginal SW2 disc…fucking mixjoy.
So I went and bought SW2…as hard as it was to find.
DW6 on the PS2 was basically DW6: Xtrerme Legends IMO…
Finally got DW7…why did I wait so long?
Didn’t know Jin was available from jump…I kept tradition and started with Shu.
I don’t see what’s the big deal with weapon switching…I think it’s fun as hell.
Dual Axes just own ATM…

My favorite dual weapon combo is two halberds, just to abuse the dizzy + 4x hit properties.

Imagination and lots and lots of free time.
Is this the same pack as the bow glitch…or another one?
The fact that they** won’t** fix it bothers me.

It’s the upcoming pack, and Chin said warned his followers that those who want a 100% weapon completion rate should stay away from the packs.
I also noticed a few people posting on KOEI’s FB wall about the Bow and they immediately delete them.
Yeah…fuck that.
I’m not buying any weapon packs until they fix them.
That’s just further shitting on the overseas fans they have LEFT.
Anyone else playing/have played Fist of the north Star?
Really late to the party but i got it a month ago for 360 and its been great. As a huge fan of the anime, this is an A grade title, and best HNK game ever. It has its flaws for sure, but the majority of the game is well done.
Objectively as a non-fan, i’d give it a B. Still an entertaining beat’em up.
Excellent gameplay longevity also, after about 80 hours thus far, I still have a lot left to do. Have yet to get any DLC also, which i hear adds a lot more to the replay value.

Ken’s Rage is my favorite Koei game of all time. Challenging gameplay combined with characters that I like is a winning combination, IMO.

I put all my DW games on half.com
They’re just sitting there and I’ve gotten all the achievements for most of them or they just suck i.e. Strikeforce, Kens Rage.

Dual halberds are really just broken. C3>whatever is just dumb. Good shit Koei for making Pang De’s special from Warriors Musou a simple and easy reset. C4 sends out a wave too that goes UP or DOWN hills? This weapon is really silly with combat and projectile seals.
Lance/Vulge/Flying swords are also up there with being bat dumb. Shaman rod gets a honorable mention with C2.

Warriors Orochi you mean? I’m confused.
Oh and shoutouts to KOEI for getting ONE thing right…
FINALLY INCLUDING “WELCOME TO CHINA” IN THE NEXT BGM PACK .
Ken’s rage is fun as hell…probably because I’m a fan of Warriors games and HNK.
Always fun to see mass of soldiers explode or get sliced up.
I know Emblemlord wrote some some nice stats on some of the characters.
Question about DW7…how do I make my weapon charge?
I’ve seen it in some videos where the weapon glows bluish.

How you can think Ken’s Rage sucks is beyond my comprehension. Probably the most in-depth combat engine of any game koei ever made other then Destrega (LOVE DESTREGA OMGWTFBBQ!!!) Did a great job of bringing the anime/manga to life on the PS3. Really brought out the personality of the characters. The what if mode is worth a buy alone imo. Seeing Shin and Rei interact as well as the Nanto/Hokuto war was just entertaining.
