The Dynasty/Samurai/Gundam/Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) Warriors thread

The game doesn’t get a lot of love from Warriors fans because it feels “slow and clunky” to them and that they tried to play it like it’s DW/SW which it’s **NOT. **You can’t just jump into hordes of enemies expecting to clear them all in just a mere seconds. This game actually requires you to know your characters’ movesets and what can they do in certain situations, unlike the earlier DW games where C2 is a launcher and C5 is a crowd launcher for the most part for ALMOST EVERY CHARACTER, and I can simply spam them to win without ever knowing the characters inside and out. Try to go autopilot in this game and YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD.

And you wouldn’t happen to have the DLC for this game would you? Would you be kind to share them with me if I share with you the DW7 DLC or other things as well? :lovin:

Well Hokuto Musou is a clunky slow game compared to the other Musous. So was the first Gundam Musou (constantly pushing X to boost all over the place if your Mobile suit had no flight mode?). The game itself is good for a first in the series.

I feel it is slow compared to GW games, but it’s supposed to be that way. Clunky? I simply can’t agree. Once you know how to do your chars diff cancels and the universal JC’s I feel the game gets much faster and more fun.

Ichipoo: I have no DLC for this game. Sorry bro.

IIRC, the producer said that the reason why the game plays “slow” is because he wanted to fulfill Hara’s request (The illustrator of the original manga) for the game to have “realistic movements.”

I’m sure if Hara didn’t request it, the game would be as fast as a DW game, but to me, the game speed is fine the way it is and it does look more realistic.

Thanks anyway, at least it seemed like you were willing to share the DLC files with me if you really had it.

I do agree with the game being the pace it is. Does make it more realistic. (especially when hitting someone with an attack.)

I def love how I can “feel” the force of the attacks of these powerful martial artists. It truly feels like they are smashing through anyone and everyone that’s in their path with precision and power. And I also loved how basically everyone in the game is good. There are tiers, but there are no bad chars really. Cept Heart. He’s meh.

Did you try Outlaw yet…top 3 IMO.

Nah, but he I heard he is stupid good. His special lets him fall down and puts everyone around him in shock while he’s invincible then he can JC it? Retard mode imo. lol.

I would… if I had the money for the DLC. Jesus Christ, the amount of money you spend to pay for all of the DLC is almost $50 IIRC. :shake:

And Heart and Outlaw… really? I would’ve preferred Juda and Shew at least, maybe Ryuga as a stretch.

Dynasty Warriors…on the NGP.

DAY ONE PURCHASE!

PSV is totally shitting on the 3DS now.

However, I’m not quite sure how to feel about this game to be honest, perhaps it’s because the touch gimmicks are kind of preventing me from thinking positively about this game. However, it goes without saying that we need to see more of this game in the future before giving any final opinions.

Also, I noticed how a good amount of HnK fans didn’t like Souther’s new Japanese voice, however, am I the only person who likes it? While reading the manga, I always felt that Souther was a bit more prouder than Raoh, in a braggier and immature sense and I felt that Souther’s new voice actor brings out these aspects to life. It also made the difference in personality between Raoh and Souther more distinct, rather than making Souther sound like another beefcake like Raoh.

/2pennies

Raoh seems noble while Souther seemed arrogant and brash and I think it fit perfectly.

Yeah I really liked Souther’s VA. in fact I thought all the new VAs were really good.

Whoever was playing in the vid was horrible…

Man, the ONLY reason people think musou games are mashing games is because they don’t know how to fucking play them.

I always find it hilarious because people grew up playing Final Fight/Double Dragon/River City Ransom/Streets of Rage/etc yet bash musou games. Not realizing it’s just in 3d and a updated formula.

It’s probably the same people who just always died on the first level lol

Another thing I noticed in that vid was that Master Asia sounded different to me…I hope there’s no new VA for him.
His voice too AWESOME!!!

Funny thing is, I **USED **to be those people, until I got Warriors Orochi for the PSP and gave it shot. I wasn’t able to fully love the game until Ifigured out advanced shit such as Speed characters being able to Jump Cancel, individual character combos, team combos, specific strategies to use in specific situations, etc.

Basically, once you learn the intricacies of the engine, the series becomes more enjoyable.

And I must say that DW7 revived my love for beat 'em up/hack ‘n’ slash games. I’ve been playing Sengoku Basara 3 and Ken’s Rage along with this game as well, and I feel like getting into that Scott Pilgrim game that was released last year.

I also just Platinum’d Ken’s Rage today, making it my first PS3 game that I actually completed in trying to get all the trophies. Goes to show how much I love the game. Now I’m feeling like shelling out $40 for the DLC. :shake:

Seriously, does anybody here have the Ken’s Rage DLC? I’m willing to let you guys download my DW7, or anything in particular if I have it.
