I got an email saying the beta would go live 10/14 with download links (the same link anyone can access at Aeria’s website). No keys or anything. Are closed beta folks just supposed to download, log-in, & they’re good to go?

If you don’t mind running around with the handle GrenSRK, I can PM you my log-in info. Dunno why I signed up. No way my netbook could handle that game…

So the masked dude was a new character, not Cao Pi. Interesting that they’ll be including the Jin empire.

Some of the screenshots show Xiahou Dun with two eyes. Guess that’s how he’ll look until his fateful battle…and what should make for an epic cutscene.

I can only assume that by going in this direction, Zhou Tai will be restored to his former glory. DW6 killed my interest in warriors games.

Here’s the rundown on DW7 so far…

March 2011 release date (JP)
PS3 exclusive (JP only so far)

DW7 storyline extended to 280: Jin’s unification of China and end of the ROTK period

The Jin Kingdom faction is newly added, along with the return of Wei, Shu, and Wu.

DW7 expected to have the biggest playable roster to date…possibly no cuts.

Story Mode is apparently kingdom-based, and will focus on the 4 kingdoms of Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin. You will be playing as different characters as you choose other stages, thus seeing the overall kingdom stories from different character perspectives

story events will be seamlessly incorporated into gameplay

Chronicle mode seems to be an individual, free-roam-China and create-your-own-story story mode
In-between battles, you can visit cities to buy and upgrade weapons. You can also interact with other unique characters, and depending on how you interact, you can unlock more playable characters from this mode

When you join a faction you will be able to play in their specific stages

There are also stages that are based on ROTK

Character I thought was Cao Pi is actually Sima Shi, oldest son of Sima Yi…and the other new guy is his younger brother, Sima Zhao.

New Shu girl is Bao Sanniang…Fictional female warrior who would eventually married to Guan Suo, fictional youngest son of Guan Yu.

More new unique commanders to be announced

The moveset system is back to the Charge-based system

Characters now equip two weapons at once. Both of them can be changed on the fly

There will be about 360 different varieties of weapons

Some weapons will have gender limitations (eg. high probability that folding fans will be exclusive to females)

Variable Attack system (aka. Real Time Weapon Change): player can switch between the two weapons anytime. The weapons can even be switched during a combo with a weapon without cutting the combo itself. To switch weapons, press R1

Some characters will have special expertise in certain weapon types. When such weapons are equipped, they will be able to unleash EX attacks
(Speculation: For new characters, probably it’s the ‘main weapons’ listed above, while for returning characters it’s their default old weapons’)

Musou bar is now stackable to 2 bars, allowing you to launch Musou attack twice consecutively

It is said there will be different kinds of Musou attacks. The first one is weapon-based and the second one will be unique to character (perhaps related to main weapon / weapon type expertise?)

The game supports stereoscopic 3D mode, though this is optional and can be turned off

Some characters will have different facial features depending on the storyline progress, like two-eyed Xiahou Dun or non-masked Sima Shi

Character portraits in battle messages have emotion changes just like other recent Warriors games (except SW3)

There were a bunch of gameplay footage blacked out during the presentation…possibly were shoing off the stereoscopic 3D cutscenes.

No mention of online features…who knows.
