The Dynasty/Samurai/Gundam/Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) Warriors thread

if only empires was online, id give koei much more credit for it
last game i did buy was 5empires, but ill wait to see how the battle system pans out
i didnt play dw6 and really disliked that whole “keep mashing on X if there are enemies around” system
the charge attacks were the whole premise of dw games being cool, everyone had something different
dw6 just sounded like a chore

Do not buy DW: Gundam 2.

35 hours into it and I haven’t even finished 1 character completely on Mission mode. Theres 21 characters that I’ve unlocked SO FAR. Just to give you an idea of how much shit there is to do.

just wondering, why do you think having a lot of stuff to do is a bad thing? is it not fun to do those things?

It really isn’t. I like to have a decent amount of things to do but this is ridiculous. Theres 21 characters that I’ve unlocked so far, I haven’t even finished one character and I’ve played 38 hours. Doing the math, thats roughly 840 hours. Fuck that! Especially when one of the achievements is complete ALL missions for a whopping 50 gamerpoints.

gamerpoints are useless fyi

I’m hyped that DW6: Empires is coming out soon…I’ve been itching to play for a while.

I’ve read that a number of people don’t like that it’s been toned down:

No Seige Weapons
Can’t start a new mode with leveled up charaters (but I think weapons stay leveled up)
15 soldiers MAX recruitment

Granted I’ve never played an Empires game before…still I can create 100 CAW’s.
Wish CAW’s had secondary weapons like in Strikeforce.

hmm thats kinda ok i guess
no fun in using a maxed out character at the start of an empire session
but then ill assume its not that time consuming to max them out

It’s not…I think they have it set that you max out by the time you conquer all of China.

Skill tree now affects ALL your soldiers, player just auto-level up.

I’m glad that I can buy horses rather than farm for them…I still don’t have the rare horses in 6, and I don’t plan on trying to farm for them anymore.

And yes…there is a babysitting stage, where you have to protect a princess.

It is fun, but a lot of stuff is just blatant padding and Koei knows it. For example, you have to unlock every Gundam individually for every character using the most wishy-washy relationship system ever. Then you have to ride these Gundams for countless missions to get the abilities off of them.

It’s a lot of ‘do this to open up that, then use that to get what you want’. After a while, you stop feeling like you’re progressing at all. Especially since leveling up is so slow.

What has been said about DW6 Empires is kind of irritating too. Surely, there is a middle ground between two extremes here.

DW6: Empires (US/EU) should’ve shipped out today…I think my copy will be delivered by week’s end.

StrikeForce also gets DLC pack #2 on Thursday…

oooh shit whats the official release date? i gotta check my eb

6/23/09.

I pre-ordered at Amazon…but they tend to be late with random games.

Everyone talking about how crappy the grind is in DWG2 is ridiculous… ly correct. I enjoy the game but so much about it is terrible.

Dr. B can use any Gundam right off the bat.

Something I’ve wondered…

I know that Sima Yi is Wei’s primary strategist, Zhuge Liang is Shu’s primary strategist…but who was Wu’s strategist?

Zhou Yu…or Lu Xun?

It was Zhou Yu. Lu Xun was just for backup.

Anyone get DW6: Empires yet? Or is it scheduled for tomorrow?

Amazon (place where I pre-ordered) says they will have it in stock by Thursday…so did a Best Buy I called.

Zhou Yu, I remember a quote he said on his death bed. (This is translated by me and going off memory so it be a little off)

“God made me so talented by why did he have to make Zhuge Liang?” Basically saying as talented as a strategist he was, Zhuge Liang always had the upper hand.

Zhuge Liang was always the best strategist out of the 3 kingdoms. He only had 2 equals during the timelines in the games: Pang Tong (his 1st student before Jiang Wei) and Sima Yi. He outsmarted Sima Yi at Wu Zhang Plains, which was Zhuge Liang’s death battle with some strategy that sounded retarded but was smart (can’t remember it)

If I recall correctly, Sima Yi actually came to see Zhuge Liang’s body after Wu Zhang and officially dubbed him “The Greatest Mind Under Heaven”.

I can’t remember which ones, but I played a couple for the PS2, it seemed all you did was attack crowds of similar looking enemies over and over again. They were fun for like an hour and got boring quick, and despite the wealth of characters it seemed like exactly the same thing over and over. Has this changed at all?
