Yeah…the main difference between Dynasty and Samurai Warriors is that Dynasty is based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms (China) and Samurai is based on the Sengoku to Edo period (Japan).
Dynasty characters have the same attack strings (not including their unique EX attacks) …while Samurai characters movesets are split between Charge, Normal, and Special movesets. Hyper moveset has been added to SW4.
Overall Samurai Warriors has been a bit “updated” when it comes to the moveset and making characters different. Dynasty Warriors was definately headed in the right direction by the time we got DW5 but then they screwed themselves up with 6 (reverting back to clone characters, most of the cast missing) and then 7/8 make it so only thing making movesets different were EX attacks on their main weapon and musous but able to use whatever weapon. (which I personally don’t like as it doesn’t make the game that much interesting anymore)
I think at this point though Samurai Warriors is much more fun just because people have 1 weapon and have different movesets along with the whole castles being mixed into the games. (which at this point isn’t THAT different since Dynasty Warriors somewhat implements it.)
I still wish they brought over Samurai Warriors 3 for the 360 and PS3 since they did drop in Japan. Didn’t care if it was voice translated or not but whatever. Just weird to have it only drop for the Wii in America then go back to Sony after that. Even more so because the warriors series started on Sony.
Pirate Warrios 2 is on sale for a week for like 15 or 7 if you got ps plus. Thinking of picking it up. Anyone here got some opinions on it?
I’m just irked that its digital only. I would import the UK version but the saves are region locked. Might still do it in future, in a Warriors game II don’t care about starting over and physical copy beats digital for me
I have the first one piece musou and I really liked it. It was weird getting use to not being able to jump for the first few levels but after that it was fine.
So I preordered Samurai warriors and Warriors Orochi for ps4. Not too familiar Warriors orochi aside from a few trailers I watched but stoked to try it.
Got PW2 really enjoying it alot. So far my mains are Nami and Smoker. Level design and the missions keep it fresh. Gonna definitely continue to sink time into it. Lots to do. Damn.
Gundam Reborn - currently wrapping up Ultimate Mode…sure to pick up the DLC pack if it goes on sale.
Ken’s Rage 2
One Piece:Pirate Warriors 2
Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate (comes out 9/2 for NA/EU)
Samurai Warriors 4
Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires for Japan has been pushed back to late October…weird that there’s not gameplay footage as of yet.
Sure they’ll announce it for NA/EU.
Warriors Orochi is a completely original story with a metric fuckton of characters from every Musou game, along with a couple of guest characters from other Koei games. It’s a blast.
To be fair, I started playing musou-style games with Dynasty Warriors 4, and that game was tuned to be unfairly difficult. Trying to get the Wind Scroll (succeed at securing the rear defense and deploying the ramp at the front in the Battle of Xu Chang (last level with Shu)) without Red Hare was ridiculous! WO3 shouldn’t be anywhere near that level of frustration.
So the new WO3 only has Sophitia and someone else as the new flavor of the edition add on?
I wonder did Nemea get any better? His moveset is dope in DW8 his musos could have been a bit better, but I guess that’s why I ride with Susano’o and Sima Zhao on deck.
