I really have to agree. Wesker’s bullet being the sole trigger for his teleport makes it all the more hopeless. Having a flame carpet keeps it a bit more manageable but I’d say you really need to find a character that can take out Wesker. Wesker seems to shit on zoners in general.
whats to stop you teleporting and tri jump L >cr.L him? before he kills you first? i think dorm can throw away the zoning game and go pure rushdown especially with sent or someone providing support
I’d imagine it would be important to learn the ins and outs of his teleports, and try to keep him out of the more common areas he would teleport from. If it looks like he’ll get in, I’d try to prep with a flame carpet and just block, and probably charge a 0C3D whenever possible.
Has anyone tested whether Wesker can teleport while rooted?
Flame carpet is useless if he teleports behind you.
You can gamble on a teleport here and there but it doesn’t really seem all that solid. It’s more like praying for a hit than something solid. Tri-jumping doesn’t seem like a great idea either since Dormmy’s takes longer than most charaters and it’s very easy to hit characters out of tri-jump in this game.
Are there any good assists for covering the area right behind dormammu?
Doom hidden missiles or Rocks.
I use Wesker on my team and fire carpet is most definitely not useless agaisnt Wesker for the simple fact that if he teleports behind you and attacks, there’s a good chance he’ll touch the flames. The scariest thing about Wesker when using Dormammu is his “Asshole Gun” it comes out so quickly that you can pretty much stop any of Dorm’s attempts to zone with repeated fire, no teleport necessary. In that situation the only thing Wesker has to fear (Not counting assists) is Chaotic Flame.
I’d say the best way to fight Wesker with Dorm is to utilize teleports, and box/tri jumps. Make sure there’s always fire carpet on the floor so you can limit his movement, and because it can stop random Maximum Wesker clean.
FYI, Dormammu can combo off of any beam assist in the game from anywhere on screen.
well, wesker (everyone, really) has a very hard time against sentinel’s assist. if you feel a teleport coming, use it (OFF TOPIC SENTINEL PRO STRAT: if you see ANYTHING coming… hell, just throw it out whenever you want. yeah, just do that LOL!). anyway sent’s assist really helps dorm against everyone because it’s a psuedo get-off-me, anti-teleport and great for dorm’s offense and/or keepaway.
I try to play keep away as much as possible but if people are close and they are trying to get froggy I try to go for c.a, c.b, c.s combo I am trying to do Triangle jump a. into c.a but i swear it is not connecting I don’t know what it is.
By the time you try to do all of that he has already on your ass telling you look me in the eyes when I rape you. You are forgetting that he has assits protecting him as he is going in on that ass.
some helpful things how do you IAD?
Also I am trying how are you guys using his assits? so far I am just using purification for a anti-air assit. But have you guys found any good usages for his other assits? maybe even combos?
Something tells me you don’t qualify to give people Dorm advice if you can’t combo j.L into c.L and if you can’t IAD. IAD = Up-Forward, and quickly input Forward+ Two Attack buttons so you dash as you get off the ground.
Question: Sometimes when I try to OTG with Purification after the end of an air combo, it misses. Why is that?
So friggen true. I feel like I’m the only guy that runs Dorm/Doom with the beam assist.
Flame Carpet defends Dormammu from the Dog’s ice projectile.
Just do it faster. There’s no real reason to be whiffing unless you’re doing it too late, or doing the wrong Purification pillar due to tricky midscreen landings.
This. Sometimes when you do Dorm’s combo midscreen, the opponent will land in different areas (either medium distance or far distance). You have to quickly realize which Purification Pillar to do prior to hitting the ground. Typically, I do it right before I hit the ground. The motion is sorta buffered, so that right when I land it will come out.
EDIT: I just played 7 matches with a guy who used Chun, Ryu, and Morrigan. He typically liked to jump in to start combos. It seemed like I was endlessly juggled or something. What’s Dorm’s best move to stuff jumping-in opponents?
Fire Carpet. If it connects go straight into launcher for free combo. You may get tagged by the jump-in but the flames will stop them from getting any subsequent hits.
:d: can also be used as an AA.
That makes sense since his down+M goes upward. Will his S attack combo off of it if the opponent is mid-air? I’d just try it out myself but I’ve been “temp banned” from using my Fightstick due to waking up both my fiance and our 11mo old son from the furious slapping of buttons tonight. lol
I don’t know about losing the fireball war, with a decent assist (doom rocks) and some tiger knee blackholes you can pretty well shut down most anyone trying to stand back and chuck stuff at you. On the off occasion that someone DOES win that battle (Magneto’s the only one to reliably beat me, but all I’ve got is anecdotal evidence on that one) that’s what flight mode was built for.
What I’m struggling with is another assist to keep alternating with rocks. I’d use drones but they’re slightly too slow to get a good Purification tower/assist/finger shot/blackhole rep out of it from full screen. I generally just spam rocks, but it’d be nice to close the trap a little tighter. As it is nailing any part of that is a free super (x2 if you HSF to sentinal) and the chip damage is pretty respectable.
As far as wesker, with any reasonable assist, a flame carpet and a blackhole the whole teleport thing gets nixed pretty quickly.
Try finishing your aerial series lower to the ground.
Here’s to hoping Shuma-Gorath’s beam assist is just as good, because I desperately want him on my team.
Fire Carpet, pre-emptively. If not, Dark Hole right in front of your face.
If Magneto is spamming EM Disruptor L, Doom’s Plasma Beam will beat it straight up. Teleport at the same time and Magneto will be in a tough position.
What’s neat about Drones is if you Dark Hole right before they connect, the blockstun from the drones will let you connect another blockstun Dark Hole at the end of the series - the chip is pretty fantastic.
Yeah, and if you want a counter for Dante’s teleport, Flame Carpet plus patience. Dormammu’s launcher reaches up to Air Trick’s initial height, so you can just launch him on reaction.
