Just saw this and thought it was funny. If Dormammu beats beats dante he says “As you can see not all demons are created equal. Go back to fighting Mundus”. I goggle’d mundus to see that he a 2000 demon that dante’s fathre beats and who took over captain blue in the PS2 version of Viewtiful Joe LOL.

His exact wording is “stick to fighting Mundus boy”.
But yes. Mundus was the final boss and main antagonist of DMC1. He’s basically king of hell. Which for someone like Dormammu, thats king of an anthill.
I’ve been super tri-jumping with H with some success. What do you guys like to use as your tri-jump normal?
Yeah I’ve some success with that using Hsien-Ko’s DFP assist to make things pretty safe. Also I found if you use that assist shortly before teleporting behind them with M, you can go for j.S, c.l, c.m, S, and in most cases not only will you get a hit confirm with it, but the pendulum on your original side will actually push them right into perfect range so that when you land the rest of the ground combo hit. Then you can go into standard j.m, j.m, j.H, j.S, purification (1 hit), Chaotic Flame.
Dormammu is crazy, man. Got lots of interesting combos. My favourite day 2 newb combo is c.:l:, c:m:, :s:, , :h:, :s:, 0c3d RAPE EXPLOSION xx Chaotic Flame. I feel like a badass when I pull that off even though it’s easy as shit. :lol:
Where do you guys like to put dormmamu on your team? lead off, middle, or end?
Noticed the other day that it’s possible to get a launch from a far (L or M) teleport by hitting with M on the way down, then doing c.H, S. It seems to be slightly character specific, though. I’ve only tested it on four characters, but it worked on three of them (Doom, CapA, Skrull), and missed on one (Ryu).
j.M and c.H have pretty impressive range.
i have dormammu at the end, mainly because he uses the most meter of my team and functions the best on his own compared to my other characters.
I’ve been fiddling with Hsien-ko (pendulum)/Doom OR Morrigan/Dormammu. Start with Hsien-ko doing gong to cover Dark Force activation for the armored assist, then tag in Dormammu immediately. Whether I use Doom or Morrigan as second depends on the matchup. If there’s a fast teleporter on the team (fucking Wesker specifically), Doom is better for the extra coverage his rocks or missiles provide. In any other case I like Morrigan with her meter building assist, rushdown ability to switch things up mid match, and fairly useful DHC’s with Hsien-ko and Dormu.
I think Morrigan/Hsien-ko (DF pendulum)/Dorm (dark hole) could also work as an opening rushdown version of this team just fine. That style isn’t my strongest though so it’ll take some practice.
I like to teleport above people, then make them guess sides and combo into the purification tower. While they’re off screen, I lay down fire carpet and teleport again. Not huge damage, but a reset’s a reset.
standing m is just not enough to deal with projectile users they are coming to fast to many. he can stop lets say zero shoting a slow projectile by himself? But what about zero and a projectile assist? or a better projectile user like Aurthur . He just gets shutdown.
Use an Anti zoning assist or another zoning assist that can stop that.
That’s how this game is.

The speed of most of the characters is a real problem do you people play Dormmamu keep away or do you teleport in alot?
When in doubt, teleport out. Dormammu doesn’t win in fireball wars but his normals can keep him alive long enough for an opening.
Also priority #1 for any Dormammu player should be remembering to keep a flame carpet out and keeping Destruction charge 3 ready for fullscreen punishes into 500k+. Makes things so much more manageable.
Few things, first I don’t know how you expect to teleport out of pressure… maybe super jump teleport. But this teleport is balls slow and you can get hit out of the cape wrap up part
Second, It is nice to be able to charge liberation, but since plenty of characters can punish it on reaction full screen your best bet is to either go for it while you’ve knocked them off screen with a column into stalker flare to charge 3 or just a column to charge 1 - 2 if you are playing against someone who is also running away.
Other things I’ve notice, j.b back + medium is okay zoning against people who are trying to rush you, after you pop them back land and decide whether to dark hole or not. cr.m is a decent anti-air from the right ranges but don’t do it against sentinel.
Random Sentinel strats If you jump first IAD HP gives him alot of trouble. Even if it hits him in the air you can usually land get st.mp into launcher off it for decent damage. If he jump first your best bet is to actually stay on teh ground and push block him back out. Then choose appropriate column or dark hole to keep him out. Dormammu with his fast super and good damage does well against sent in my opinion its all just about figuring out the ranges and not getting hit by random frying pan. Another important note is when to xfactor against sentinel… I almost always leave my xfactor for dormammu as a last character getting full lvl3. My main strategy depending on when he comes in is to kill a character then xfactor stalker flare, hopefully if I am close enough to the corner and I have meter to burn, I’ll just go nuts having them ride the chip damage from stalker flare. When it looks like they will drop out do dark hole into chaotic flame to finish the chip. If you get this right you could be facing a half health character before they even hit the ground.
Edit: thought cjip was half but red damage is half.
Trijump L,L is pretty useful if you feel like rushing with a good Assist back you (ie. Sent Drones) easy to hit confirm, and hits overhead.
I fully Agree on having a flame carpet out at all times. That is the BEST move in the game.
^When it comes to Dromammu’s move-set I’ll take purification over it.
Speaking of Dormammu playing perfect zoning, there is absolutely no point in putting Dormmy on point against wesker. He just teleports with impunity and gets in eventually. It’s hopeless.
