FYI, theres a new Deadpool ongoing launching this summer, by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon. To tide you over to that, Deadpools currently tearing it up in Wolverine Origins.
Also, Joblo.com’s reporting that Ryan Reynolds will be playing Deadpool in the upcoming Wolverine solo film, in a cameo capacity to potentially launch off into a solo film.

LOL Dainel Way can’t do comedy, even I can tell you that. That issue with Deadpool in Origins blew. G/L with the Way / Deadpool comic.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool ----
Ryan has a good build - actual muscles, no fake costume muscles.
He can do comedy - He was funny in Blade 3 (just about the only thing I liked about Blade 3) and does romantic comedies I don’t really watch but there’s where you can learn and perfect timing, which is needed to deliver comedic lines.
Also, Blade 3 proves that he can do action scenes. Or, at the very least do enough for a stunt double to step in, oh hey full bodied costume - CGI Spider-Man movie style and there ya go.
Face doesn’t really matter since he’s burned up and wears a mask.
Voice? Well he’s mostly in a comic, (no voice in any of his cartoon cameos of the 90s series) matching his voice doesn’t matter and it doesn’t have to match up to whatever way DP explained it 100 issues ago. It’s the least thing I care about in a franchise where Wolverine is not 5’3 and there’s a bunch of other things that aren’t really accurate (still not a bad franchise, except for 3). Or where Professor X has some accent he shouldn’t have being that he’s American, but he’s Patrick freaking Stuart so who gives a damn. DP’s voice doesn’t match up to that old description in Marvel Ultimate Alliance or his online fan film and both still work fine.
As funny as the comic? Yeah probably not but they can cast Chris Rock and that won’t be the case. He’s not going to start breaking the fourth wall and start talking about Hugh Jackman playing Van Helsing, just not gonna happen. Hollywood’s so not ready for that. Wolverine’s movie is being done by the same people who did X-Men 3 right? Fat chance… (On the movie being good in the first place, but it won’t have nothing to do with Ryan as Deadpool, they have lame director issues…) The same way it doesn’t happen in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Deadpool doesn’t bring up Activision’s Spider-Man and X-Men’s crappy game and start dissing it like the real Deadpool would. Still, he is funny in the game and that is what counts. Proving that he doesn’t have to rely on that kind of humor to be funny. At best the movie will give us a couple of laughs from DP here and there the way MUA did, but it’s not Deadpool’s movie the same as MUA isn’t his game. If he gets his own shot at either, who knows.
Man you know how Hollywood works. Start your Ryan Reynolds hate campaign. Next thing you know, he’s out and they cast Drew Carey. A guy with actual muscles? Sign off on that quick. Remember that chick that played bootleg Psylocke in X-Men 3? Could be worse… TRUST ME… Well, after seeing enough comic book movies as I’m sure most of us have, you probably don’t really have to take my word on this anyway and draw your own conclusions based on some of Hollywood’s casting choices over the years…
I just hope they don’t go down the Ultimate route with Deadpool…
Did anybody consider that? That they’d make Deadpool the anti-mutant foil of Wolverine who ends up serving as a general allusion to racism in America or some stupid shit that isn’t funny?

this news makes me very happy. Deadpool deserves his own movie. But maybe they’ll have wade trying to save his buddy from a rampaging Logan and he picks up a minion…no a pet named bob Along the way. That would be epic

Whenever I read DP, I always imagine him having Saverio Guerra voice :P.

Just jumpin in here to show some love for DP. I had dropped comics for many years but always loved Deadpool. Initially for the way he looked but after going through this thread I’ve grabbed the C&D run and am going to be grabbing the rest soon. I just hope Skottie Young gets some more cover work when the new series starts. I love his work.

some may look the same but I was trying different settings in the toon shader so some shadows are a bit different etc…
I also fleshed out a Deadpool sculpt this eve. I’ll prob throw him in my sculpture thread in a few days after I get tired of looking at my Akuma sculpt.
