This is a pre-sbo arcade tournament, not sbo. You’re dumb if you haven’t realized this.
Japan is a close knit community where huge team tournies are the norm for them. There’s a reason the NAGOYA STREET BATTLE series is up to NSB8. I’m not surprised they don’t give a shit about foreigners because the only foreigners to actually even come close to winning, or who’ve actually won is Korea. And that was for Tekken.
Is that moral? Hell no, but think of it this way. Would you care about a team who joins one of your tournaments with people you consider XBL scrubs? I don’t think Les Go Justin is a bunch of scrubs, but I’m not a Japanese elitist.
People forget that the only reason we get SBO qual’s at all in the US is cause of Choi. He knows the guy who runs SBO. They don’t have to give a shit about catering to us or not. Last time America ditched an SBO (t5 i think?), they just took away all of the US’s quals as punishment. Now, emphy has to qualify in 3S just to have a chance to qualify for T6BR w/ Korea’s best Kuma player.
For all the bitching you’d think this had happened in the finals and after they actually beat all 5 of the other team’s players rather than in the first round with a 3-1 scoreline… and ending the rematch 1-5.
Yes, that was shitty sportsmanship and the other team took advantage of the rules in a really cheap way. Yes they have a reason to be mad, but if the organizers royally fuck up it can’t be helped. It’s not like they restarted things at a disadvantage and if they had taken care of business they’d have progressed anyway. It’s one match, not a big deal. If they really want to salvage anything, rather than moaning about things which can’t be changed they really ought to figure out how they let a relatively unknown player run through them like that and do something about THAT.
As an aside, well done to the Taiwanese team at least getting out of the 1st round. Almost any group could be OCV’d by Mago so it sucks, but overall looks like they represented themselves OK.
another haterade post from someone that wasnt there. its called momentum man. we were running a train on these fools until they stopped the match. then everything is stopped for 20 minutes, while we get pissed off only for them to run a train on us. shocking? i think not. its happened to me before due to rather unfortunate circumstances (see me/gootecks at ECT with projector fire stopping match for 20 minutes, then he comes back and beats me, of course thats not his fault.) Just saying in tournament, momentum is everything and they took that away from us…by complaining after they lost. stop being a japanese apologist man.
also lol @ calling them unknowns when almost ALL the players on that list are top players from bigbox, and youre calling them random unknowns in a invitational only tourney. you really think they gonna choose RANDOM PLAYERS in a INVITATIONAL!?!? srk you so funny sometimes.

Well, I am Japanese and I’m not being an apologist or hating. I never said momentum isn’t important but if as you yourself admit, from time to time outside shit causes you to lose momentum, as a player you just need to learn how to deal with it as best you can. What you fail to realize is that by allowing yourselves to get mad and get psyched out you just gave them another advantage on top of a second life.
I called ALOHA a relative unknown which is perfectly reasonable - he’s very good but he’s not one of the best of the best. Never suggested he was random.

Dan didnt get to skip pools or get a high seed. Daigo won the Gamestop exhibition and got a free trip to evo, but Justin got the same treatment. I don’t think 2ch is representative of the Japanese community because its an anonymous messageboard like 4chan. Anyone can post what they want and there are no usernames and its mostly just trolls. And from what I’ve heard from players in previous SBO tournaments, foreigners get preferential treatment in last chance qualifiers and other events.
