The Dark Knight Returns (Animated film)

Thank god, I’m picking this up tomorrow.

A preteen kid one-shotting anybody is not going to make sense in any scenario, so try not to worry your little head.

Yeah…I’ll repeat to myself “It’s just a show, I should really just relax”…

Here’s my position: there are a lot of little things about DKR (and Batman in general) that don’t make a lot of sense. As a plot–in other words, as a logically connected series of small moments that build up to the whole–it really doesn’t hold much water. But it works so well on a big, broad-strokes, operatic scale that it’s well worth overlooking those little things for the sake of the experience.

omg…i didn’t know this was the frank miller dark knight…might call in sick tomorrow…lol…

wasnt Peter Weller the original Robocop actor? I havent seen the animated film yet but i’ve heard that his speaking voice sounds perfect for an ageing batman.

I think you mean Peter Weller.

This movie was awesome. Peter Weller is a fantastic old Batman. I liked him about as much as Kevin Conroy honestly.

The story, pacing, voice acting, and of course the fights were all awesome. I cannot wait for part 2.

You mean enjoy things for the sake of enjoying them? NEVER

Sigh.

Know what I don’t understand?

How when a shitty proprietary online video viewer will perfectly display the ad at the beginning, yet when it gets to the actual content there is roughly a 100% chance of something going wrong in the middle of playback.

FPS punching ftw!

Can’t wait for Bats to beat up a certain patriot…

I liked Part 1. Some details were skipped over -such as explaining Batman using Scarecrow’s fear gas and why he’s using a gun and shit- and I was hoping it would elaborate on why 2 Face returned to crime. But it expanded a little on the father/daughter dynamic between Batman and the new Robin (I forget her name off hand) and it was nice seeing the comic in animated form.

I still think Michael Ironside should’ve voiced Batman in this.

I think Peter Weller is great for this version of the character. He’s done a good job so far.

It’s been a while since I’ve read the comics; the girl that Batman shot while rescuing the kid, I don’t remember it showing him shooting her hand. Anyone remember what exactly happened in that scene?

He’s good but Ironside is scarier and gives Batman that psychotic quality that was in the comic.

Weller is good, no doubt, but I agree that Ironside had that menacingly dark tone to his voice that fit the world he inhabits.

God forbid someone has some mild criticism. Do you freak out and throw your lunch box when someone points out that you’ve spelled “I” without a capital when referring to yourself?
