The D.M.V. (DC_Maryland_Virginia)

That’s fine. We’ll do it that way then.

That being said, here’s the Marvel bracket.

i miss footsies being a direct source of damage and not just being an opportunity for it.

Me and dj top 8 are going to philly today.

I miss the days of just playing the person. There is no seriousness in sf4. Back in the day there was an assortment of options people had. Getting out footies was something, that stuck with a person for a long time. Nowadays every one is a valle or a choi.

Respect is given now, not earned mindset. All of the older games mvc2, 3s, cvs just had an aura. It made you want to be better. The players were better Imo. They at least tried and that counts.

let’s get started on that Xanadu Media crew

Other then CFAS what other places in VA are weekly places to play?

I am trying to play AE and soon UMVC3 and KOF13. Gotta start playing the new games too :frowning:

Agreed. I’ll just repost here what I posted on the FB page for the DMV FGC group:

“All righty, so, who would like to be an acting part of Xanadu Media Crew? Looking to make a difference, and looking for people willing to actively help make a difference! I have an idea who might want to be a part, but if you are willing, please post up what you’re willing to bring to the table. Let’s make this happen. ^_^(V)”

So you don’t think people are trying to get better in the new games?

It’s not people aren’t getting better in new games it’s they’re getting better without having the actual tools to make them better overall. You’re being taught bad habits due to how the game rewards said bad habits.

Is there a way to take public transportation to NEC?

You can take Greyhound, or take a FOB bus to Philly.

I might have a spot though.

Hey guys does anyone want to play next weekend?I’m looking for someone to teach me how to play Marvel basically lol. I’m trying to at least understand more of the game before I pick up Ultimate. I also play MK9 if by any remote chance anyone on here at Xanadu plays as well. Oh and finally how do you Marvel people like Wesker/Dormammu/Ryu as a team? I’m willing to switch out Ryu if there’s someone better.

Also my friends that will most likely be coming with me play AE and are very good.

thanks for the consideration, I really need to figure out what my situation is this week, i’ll get to you when i know whats up.

can’t think of any reason to play ryu instead of akuma.

I was just thinking… the other thing that is hugely different in playing newer games, and playing the older generation, and I touched on this at Xanadu on Wednesday, in my halfway-serious diatribe on my time playing MvC3… is just the player base.

Playing in the last generation of games, we were used to playing games at a later point in their maturity. The way a game is played in it’s first year or two, and the way it’s played after that, are dramatically different. We were used to playing a game that already had most shit figured out… against players that generally knew their shit, so the amount of dumb, random shit was at a minimum.

Playing MvC3 has been the exact opposite of that. Lots of ridiculous dumb shit… people trying to find their way… trying to figure out what makes sense… playing against a LOT of really dumb shit. It’s just not for me. I think people are going to come back around to MvC3 in time.

I think the game might still be a little too random for me though. There’s still too much easy mode shit. Call assist + do move = mix-up!

We’ll see what happens in UMvC3.

stop trying to force it

fburg?.. you get to play magman every tuesday night now

im on the xanadu media crew

It seems like more a fundamentals thing then and what bad habits are being taught though?

im gonna guess mashing tech being one of them.

and goken taking out bonchan sagat… ?

man i was supposed

man i was supposed to go but some stuff went down,im really salty

Do you want to start a discussion in this thread? Or on FB?

Using BS in fighters can only take you so far. I started understanding spacing and footsies more in marvel and it does change you from a good player to a great player. Riding off BS can only take you so far. If you never understand fundamentals in fighters you will plateau real quickly and wonder why you arent getting better. I really don’t like the way marvel 3 is designed. People get so caught up with the concept of using ALL of the BS in it to get a quick easy win. They forget its way more important to play to learn than play to win especially in casuals.
