Valkyrie Profile - My favourite RPG, but has its flaws
Grandia - Excellent combat, fun story.
Star Ocean 2 - Very fun, especially on a second playthrough when you know how to break the game.
Breath of Fire 3 - I liked it a lot, but I don’t know why. You might not like it, though.
Shadow Hearts sucks. The game is painful. The story is good, the characters are nice but OMFG the monster designs are AWESOME. I hear covenant is excellent.
For PS2…
Disgaea/Phantom Brave if you like tactical games. Haven’t played La Pucelle.
X Death, what is your name in MS? I have a level 48 if you want help. Character’s name is Internet.
Anyone got a release date on Capcom Fighting Evolution for X-Box? I’m thinking about buying it when it’s finally out.
As far as games go, I’ve got nothing new at the moment, so I’ve been replaying Brute Force. All in all, a very fun game, but a few things about it here and there really piss me off. Still far better than the poor reviews that it got.
I’m currently playing Threads of Fate for the PSX. Nothing quite like an easy console RPG to ease the mind. I swear that the heroine, Mint, is one of the best characters Squaresoft has ever created, lol.
Exploring, walking around. The whole aspect of it. Sailing the seas = retarded. Its so tedious and the battles aren’t anything to write home about. It has pirates but its still bleh. The ship is still one of the worst things about the game.
1v1 fights are just rock paper scissors. TOO TOO many random battles. I have to admit, I hated the trinity story thing they used in III but either way, I dislike both of them.
Story feels kinda slow so far and I’m nearly 10hrs in.
I’m very susceptible to alot of opinions on games in this thread, because time be mad limited and spontaneous for me. So I gotta know what’s good out there. And don’t have the time to experiment rpgs.
still playing gta san andreas. a bit bored with los santos now but still stuck on it. i need to finish cesar’s racing mission and big smoke’s last mission before i can advance. i HAD that racing mission beat until the last freaking couple of feet where i crashed into the edge of a wall and spun a 180. then every car behind me beat me and i came in 6 place. wtf. i mean i could see the finish line. i was well ahead of all of the other cars. and all of a sudden i couldn’t back up and turn around or anything. bull.shit.
i like how driving changes during racing but remains normal during the regular game. hit a poll slow down for .02 seconds normally. during a race? hit a poll, lose control of your car, spin around and pause for about 4 seconds. bull shit.
and during the last big smoke mission, i keep hitting something that makes me explode and i dunno what it is. i’ll read a faq on it or something.
Wow, I had no idea Suikoden II went for $120 on E-Bay. I’m almost tempted to sell my copy of the game. I bought the game when it originally came out and never played it until now.
I’ve started to notice Suikoden III online auctions that are starting to get a bit pricey.
I want to buy Suikoden IV, but there hasn’t been a positive review yet. Part III received some decent to rave reviews, though it was totally different from the previous two prequels (which is probably why I a lot of peeps hate it).
I’m like five hours into part II and about to enter Muse after the bandit fortress was invaded.
FAMICOM
I forgot to ask you if your Xbox mod went through since the guy couldn’t fix your Turbo Duo. The reason this just popped into my head is because THERE IS a psx emulator for the box, and IT DOES play Suikoden 2. I understand the collector mentality well, but even I have given up any hope of acquiring Suikoden 2 legally.
Or we could just get some games going on xbconnect, that’d also be good. :bgrin:
My mage’s name is petshopboy, but I don’t really want any high-level help. Thanks though. Although if you ever wanna start new characters, gimme a shout. :bgrin:
Thanks a lot for the RPG feedback guys. Ive jotted down all of the names. Once I get a few of these I should be busy for a while. I’ll let you know what I think of the games sometime soon! :bgrin:
I’m willing to part with my copy of Suikoden I-III for a new copy of Neo Geo Battle Collosseum on Atomis Wave…
Kidding (Sorry) …
I’m in South Window right now in Suikoden II. I wish I had my copy of Suiko (it’s in New York), so I could carry over my info. Do you get some REAL bonuses when carrying over the files in Suiko II and III (besides some of the characters levels being higher)? And does it matter if you have all 108 Stars?
Somewhat sad news, Sega is calling it quits with their sports line and have sold its sports developerment studio VC off to Take Two.
Technically that really should change much considering VC will obviously still be making games. It still however seems like an end to an era after Sega Sports made its comeback on Dreamcast.
Goku is at level 68 on DBZ Budokai 3 with maxed out attack power (the highest any stat can go is 20.) I wanted to see just how powerful he was, so I fought a level 1 Goku. Even my regular combos were quickly knocking down his health bars. I should have turned on the SS4 juice to see what he could REALLY do. No telling how much damage the 10X Kamehameha would do.
On MvC2, I’m working up my points to buy more stuff. So I’m just leaving the game on in Traning mode. Last time I did that, I racked up over 6000 pts. I liked Mega Man, but I’m just not that good with him Sigh. I wanted to rock mass worlds with the Blue Bomber but I’m merely OK with him. Dudes like Wolverine and Rogue are just too much for me when I’m MM. now, Tron Bonne, oh man, that is my girl. She is my fav character in the game thus far. And I STILL can’t beat Abyss without Cable.
My XBox mod did go through, it’s on the way back now. A guy who goes by the name of “Omnedon” on the Neo Geo and Digital Press forums did the mod, this guy is awesome, also in Canada like you are. It’s just on HDD that’s not 120GB, which means I can’t save games onto my hard drive or infest it with arcade emulators. Can’t afford one at the moment but he did throw in the tools for when the time comes. For now the reason why I got it modded is while I’m saving for another Duo, I can have quick in between access to my Dracula X.
BTW what is XBConnect? Is it a alternative for XBL on modded XBoxes?
OK If anyone’s familiar with the very first Front Mission, whether you beat the original SFC cartridge, or beat the ROM in English, I got several questions to ask.
Is there a way to level up effectively since there’s no forfeit/withdraw command you can only fight battles one time? I do understand you gotta also build up your skill in long range and hand to hand combat.
Are the Colosseums there for char…er, mech development and racking up Huffman Dollars?
Check the strats section here on SRK for info on MM. When played properly, he can completely stuff rushdown altogether, even the godliness of Magneto.
And I hear you on Tron Bonne, too. She’s one of my personal favorites as well. My main team is Felicia (variety)/Tron Bonne (projectile)/Sentinel (ground). Did you know that Tron’s Projectile Assist is kinda glitchy or something, and does way more damage than it’s supposed to? Really helpful for rushdown characters, you can usually combo the assist into their ground chains.
argh. i have one more mission to go before i can unlock the uniting the families and the green sabre missions…but i’m stuck.
i’m stuck on the just business mission where cj is on the back of the bike and shooting at random ppl. for some reason i just explode. i dunno, fuck this mission though.
i really want to see san fierro and this shit is standing in my way.
