The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Dragon Quest games always sell like crazy right away in Japan. DQ7 was the same way I remember. Though, that doesn’t mean I don’t want it…I’m in the same boat as you…I want DQ8 NOW!

KOF:MI is a great game - I’ve had a lot of fun with it. It’s easy to pick up and play, and the new costumes are nice.

Me and my buddies love getting a huge kick out of hearing the voice on the KOF:MI title screen introducing the game.

Right now, I’m playing Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. That game slipped by me for the past couple years, so getting it for 10 bucks was the perfect opportunity. I swear Jubei Yagyu looks EXACTLY like one of the Yakuza guys in the movie “Black Rain”.

I’m still playing DBZ: B3 like a maniac. I haver nearly $700,000 in winnings for World Tourney mode and a little of it came from the Dragon Universe mode. My level 41 Goku is off the charts. I swapped his Z-Sword capsule and replaced it with Saiyan Spirit. Man, what a difference that made. I was stuggling in some of my fights even at Super Saiyan 2 level. Now Goku can just mop the floor with fools as a regular SS. We need to get some tourneys or fights going with this game.

I broke my record for highest number of lines in Tetris. Last I can remember the highest I ever got was 112 and that was YEARS ago. (like 1994 years go). Monday night I got 158. Guess you really do get better at some games with age. 158 may not seem like much some to of you, but for me, well, I’m happy.

Im playing Tales of Symphonia right now. its a really good game so far but i barely began playing like on saturday (im about 7 hours into the game). what do you guys think of this game?

Oh snap! That’s da freaking game, right there. IMO it is far more addicting than the original Tetris and maybe even an all around better game. Super Hard mode is impossible. :wow:

I got a buncha games I have to play…

Baiten Katios
MGS 3
Mario Tennis
GTA SA
Gradius 5
Metriod Prime 2

Gradius 5 is REALLY fun, it’s just like Ikaruga, but it’s really hard. I am such a shooting game bitch.

I play GTA whenever, in like lil sporatic bursts. It’s great, I just run around, and do missions when I feel like it. I cheat with the codes, but that makes it fun. I can’t understand how people don’t like this game.

I haven’t played MGS 3 or Baiten Katios yet, I’ll probably be consumed with them over X Mas break.

I was bored the other night so I decided to pop in Metriod Prime 2, and I remembered why I liked the first one so much. ( Even though I HATE FPSer’s. And I kinda quit even though I was like 75 % done with the game, it was still tight )

It’s just so cool, everything is so polished and the control scheme doesn’t bother me at all. It’s just neat to walk around scanning things and shooting stuff. Good Job Nintendo and Retro.

I played Mario Tennis when I was home the other week, it’s really good, the special shots make playing crazy. I guess when I’m on break I’ll play it with my friend and we’ll unlock everything.

But I got the Naruto game this week too, so once I get my freeloader sent up here I’ll probably put everything aside for that.

I don’t even want to think about Super Hard since normal difficulty was already pissing me off. Nintendo needs to make a GBA port of this game NOW.

Hey VSLASH, where did you get Naruto from?

And now, it’s time to bowl.

I think it was play-asia.com, that place is pretty cool.

Sid Meire’s Pirates!

You basically control a captain of a pirate ship/fleet’s life from 19 on.

There is sword duals between captains (real time action), cannon fights between ships (real time action), treasure hunting, escaping from town when you are imprisoned (3D pac-man style), town raids (SLG style), Dancing with women, etc…

It’s like a pack of mini-games bundled together to form a big game.

I bought and fully completed the GC version. I have played both of the other versions and IMO, GC is the best. PS2 verison has much shittier graphics (they had to reduce the texture quality to keep speed up on it). But all three have the same features and stuff. I prefer GC over Box version because the controls feel more comfortable. The odd placement of X and Y on GC makes them more comfortable for formation switching, and Z is far better than WHITE for Team Blasts.

PS: Sorry this reply took so long. I’ve been busy moving.

Picked up KOTOR II today. Great game, some improvements noticed right off the bat.

OK what is it with developers and demon-cheap AI? Seriously it is really freaking ticking me off. It really irks me in fighting games. It has reared it’s ugly head in DBZ: B3. In order to unlock Z2 mode I have to beat Dragon Universe mode on Very Hard. Problem is the AI is just insane. It teleport counters and teleport recounters like mad. Also it gets away with crap no human player can do. :lame:

Think I’ll play some KOF: MI before work tomorrow. It really is a good game. I don’t get the deal with all the mediocre reviews.

Dragon Warrior 8 in japan.

Let’s be honest; KOF:MI has it’s problems. It is, however, tremendously fun, and MUCH better than what I expected from a company who’s past 3-D titles were less than desirable.

With my personal “almost anything KOF” bias, I give it an 8/10.

Without the bias, I think anything 7/10 and above is fair.

I’m trying to make strong fighters for others to challeng in DBZ: Budokai 3. I just don’t want to build a fighter that has a COM level of 17 because then they’ll be ridiculously cheap. i.e. teleporting all over and seemingly never running out of ki, Dragon Rush abusers. Beleive me, I know, I’ve playd DU on Very Hard and that is exactly how the COM is. Right now my level 47 Goku is at a COM level of 6 or 7 so I’m observing my CPU foes in Dragon Arena to see how they fight at those levels. Of course my fighters will still have strong defensives and lots of health.

I dont think anyone cares

Playing Fatal Frame 2, Castle Shikigami 2, and still honing my MvC2 skills. I REALLY need some new buttons, tj infinites have almost totally destroyed the springs in my punch buttons, so now I can barely even dash.

I’m sure that everyone on srk cares much, much more about his gaming endeavours, than your constant trolling. This is The “Currently Playing” Game Thread, in case you may not have noticed, so if you have nothing to contribute, don’t bother posting.

I’m playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. The series has always been entertaining to me; good, but not great- something’s a little boring about it sometimes. Still in the first city but getting far.

I’m playing Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. I’m new to fighting games, and it looked popular and up to my standards. But it’s tough.

I’m playing Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. It’s more entertaining than 3rd Strike- maybe it emulates fighting more realistically, or just that it’s a more accessible fighter for newbs- and the training is good.

Been playing mad amounts off DOA2U and DOA3 lately. I love DOA now. Used to be a hater but going online got me into this series again. Fast, smooth, beatiful and fun DOA3 and DOA2U kick too much ass.
