The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Just attempted Breath of Fire II on SNES earlier, and the enemies in Tag Woods (where “Baba” is at) gave me a one way ticket to the controller throwing zone!

Argh! That shit like, Harpies paired up with snowbears or whatever the fuck you call them. Everytime the snowbear gets a turn, it’s always a critical hit, which I can get killed by in 2 hits. When I get him down to little HP, the fucking Harpy is always curing this bastard!

Leveling up takes eons, just like fuckin’ Dragon Warrior! It only gives very little in EXP and GP.

Playing Halo 2 online…I think it’s time for a break from San Andreas.

This is why you don’t play BoF2. Because it sucks.

BOFII rocks. Sure it gets tough in some spots but it’s a pretty solid RPG. I loved it on the GBA. SNES cart is super hard to find.

I passed 2 missions tonight on GTA Advance. I’m getting the hang of this game. I already have close to $7000 and beating fools up or runing them over in 2D is good fun.

AARGH! I’m playing the lightning calibration mini-game in Chapter 3 of FFX-2. That shit is a bitch. I’ve completed all of them except 7, 9 and 10. My eyes are all twitchy…

Must pick up Halo 2 today.

Since, it’s Veteran’s Day this week, us defenders of the country get a four-day weekend, and I plan on dedicating it to finishing that bad boy.

Advance Wars

Oh man. This is GOOD STUFF!! I’m still in the Field Training missions. Olaf can’t screw with me. Yeah, some of his forces get me worried but I’ve passed 6 missions, 4 of which I’ve gotten A ranks and 2 which I’ve earned B ranks. I’m just glad I did field training first. I’m learning a lot and if I didn’t know some of the basic strategies, I’d be screwed.

GTA Advance

I really got into this game today. I was walking around and stumbled across my first Rampage mission. I got to kill 20 gang members with a flame thrower. That was sooo much fun!! After that, I spent some time playing taxi driver. Man, they practically give you their whole life’s savings for dropping them off. Each time I dropped someone off I got more than $200. I think the most I made was $799. They don’t give you JACK in the first town of San Andreas for doing taxi missions. Just $45 or so on. Feh. I did this one mission that had me knocking of 3 hoods scattered across Trenton. The first two I ran over. The last guy didn’t wanna die and was getting away in a vam. I rammed the fan until it turned over, caught fire and blew up. Amazingly, the idiot got out just in time so I fan him over. Easy $4000. Million, I think you’ll really enjoy this game.

oh yeah, it’s a given. I’ve been a GTA fan since part 1…the original top-down 2d style. I had it, the London '69 “pack”, and GTA2 on psx. Then I got GTA2 again on Dreamcast, since the graphics on that were right on par with the pc version. (*I STILL don’t get how psx couldn’t “handle” the pc graphics. The only difference was the absence of the cool lighting effects…that seemed more like laziness on the part of the guys who ported it to psx.)

HALO 2 —SO worth the hype. I was over my friend’s house from early afternoon yesterday until around 12:30am, and all we did was play this in co-op. This game is The Shit…one of the best damn games ever, and this is without even seeing the greatness of the multiplayer/LIVE mode. Random stuff:
-now I know the horror that is the Flood, and why so many people kept mentioning those bastards from part 1. It was pure hell when we met those “things” the first time.

-that energy sword is one of the coolest weapons in the entire history of video games.
-The machine “Spider” thing!! Oh, where does the greatness of this game end?! That whole battle sequence was so tight it was rediculous…we follow it around, and end up jumping on the thing’s back from a bridge, and attack the aliens right there while it’s walking in a river or something.

-I love that particle beam sniper-type weapon. You get an awesome zoom for pinpoint precision with those laser shots…I had so many headshots on those aliens…sweeeeeet
-my friend doesn’t like “Sentinel Beam”, but I love it…cuz it at least looks cool. It’s one continuous beam of energy…too bad you run out of this so quickly.

-playing as that “Elite” was so tight. There’s gotta be a way to play with a longer duration of the Predator camouflage though…how could they tease us with just mere seconds of the Predator camouflage?! There’s gotta be a way…

-We whooped ass on one of those prophets!(*I think that’s the name)…it was so great when I first latched on to his hover chair and started punching…I was thinking perhaps I could steal his cool hover chair/throne. If I took over the world, I would have a hover chair like that with the teleporting and the lasers…I’d also want that giant spider vehicle with the laser…as well as the Mjolnir armor too…nobody could stop me. I could be the real-world equivalent of Dr. Doom.

-ohhhh…and then when we got the Scorpion Tank and the Ghosts! Too tight. My friend usually handled the tank, while I prefer the much more nimble Ghost. There was a great moment though later on…when I had …I think it’s called the Wraith? It’s a black tank from the covenant guys, and fires blue energy shots. He had the Scorpion, and I was in the Wraith. Unfuckingstoppable.

Halo 2…non stop…no sleep…no rest…shower…nonexistant…i found my new drug.

Shit, been torn between playing R&C3, Halo 2, and Jak 3…and then next week MGS3 hits, too many fucking games this month.

Oh yeah, at Gamestop the other day…I noticed the VIEWTIFUL JOE 2 demo was up!! I finally got to play it…they’ve spiced up/redesigned the look of some objects like coins and item boxes, and even the skull markers. Unfortunately the “up” position on the analog stick there was worn out, so it was tough to dodge the enemies’ low attacks. I’m loving it already.

Actually, I was so excited to finally play the game…I forgot all about Sylvia. I picked Joe immediately.

I’m just going to have to pawn something off to get an Xbox with Halo 2…I want my own copy of the game so much…it’s instantly on my list of Greatest Games Ever. I have my billionth job interview Friday for some chump change-ish job…so hopefully that will come through so I can at least buy the occasional game again. (*of course I know it won’t, since the world is designed against me. I bet even McDonald’s would find some way to turn me down. That’s when I will start killing though…stupid ass world will be sorry when I go out to play “Halo” or “GTA” for real one day.)

I’m at the mid-way save point on Episode 3 of V-Rated Viewtiful Joe. V-Rated has been noticably harder, I’m kinda dreading Episode 7. But Alastor awaits. I must unlock him.

I’m also at the Great Boggly Tree in Chapter 2 of Paper Mario. I must say that Madame Flurrie is without doubt the dumbest character in this game. She looks stupid, the Command Actions for doing her moves are lame, and her personality is very irritating. Oh, well. I’ve still got Goombella and Koops, who both rock. And Yoshi’s coming up in the next chapter. Definitely looking forward to that.

The new weapons are very nice.

The sword > Try playing an online multimatch with a party, and nothing but swords as the weapon. You’ll hear nothing but SLICEGroandie

I got the game on Friday, beat it late Saturday night, then I played this game HOURS online Sunday morning. I cut it off, woke up, and jumped back on it Monday. Then, did the same for last night. I played a solid 12-13 hours yesterday, with no end in sight.

No game has made me play it for this long in YEARS.

I’m glad that it’s all cool with my wife, though. She knew why I took this week off, and she’s letting me have my fun with no hassle.

God, Halo 2’s campaign made me and the friend I played it through with bored to tears. I don’t know what drugs you guys are on, but I’ll trade you some of my oxycontin for it. :xeye:

someday I’ll get to post this damn message…

Well, there were a couple of boring parts…but for me, that’s only when we couldn’t find where it was we were supposed to do, or where to go. That’s really the only major flaw I can think of at the moment…some parts of levels are a bit easy to get lost in.

Again, jumping on that giant spider thing’s back was too awesome. It was like a real Schwarzeneggar Action Hero Moment there. Oh, why can’t stuff like that happen in the real world? Fiction > Reality.

*also on that in-store demo where I played VJ2 —Mario Power Tennis looks really fun…I might have to get that whenever it comes out.

Wario World will be mine soon. It’s just 20 bucks now.(*finally. Nintendo takes FOREVER to drop the price on a game.)

Also, Sonic MegaCollection will appear on Xbox and Ps2 later, according to my new EGM. Hahaha…once again GC loses another one. There really is no reason to have a Gamecube except Nintendo games. This is just sad now. I’m hoping Nintendo will have a better run in the next generation, but somehow I doubt it. GC is still “successful”, sure…but come on. It’s 3rd place here, there’s no online-love, any non-1st party game shows up elsewhere, and “multi-platform release” has come to really just mean “Ps2 and Xbox…and MAYBE a GC version 6 months later…”. Oh, and nobody gives a shit about GBA connectivity. This is becoming a Nintendo rant, but it’s tough love from an old fan…I really don’t like seeing them like this.

I hope GTA San Andreas comes to Xbox eventually. Yep, I STILL want to avoid getting a Ps2. The games may be great, but I really have a problem with Sony when it comes to system “quality”. On a sidenote…my Sony videocamera just recently decided to start giving me bullshit. At least it lasted much longer than their half-ass game systems.

Someone needs to clear up why Halo 2 is so good. Unfortunatly, I don’t have an X-Box, so I will have to wait to see the PC port, but I don’t see how it can be any better or bring anything new to the table of FPS’s. UT2004 offers way too much and has everything polished.

Oh. Man. I just found out that you can pimp out your ride in GTA: SA. Wheels, stereos, nitros, the whole 10 frickin’ yards!! It cost a lot of $$$ to do it but man, the stuff you can do just looks killer.

As for GTA Advance, I’m on my 7th mission and things just got tough. I have to get the fuzz of my back before I get to 8-Ball’s place. Problem is, I have no clue where the dumb bribe stars are at. Once Vinnie’s car blows up, I get a 3 star wanted level and it doesn’t go down with time. Oh man. It just hit me now. The pay ‘n’ spray. I’m so frickin’ smart.

Have you tried online multyplayer? That’s where all the beef is at.

I never said the multiplayer sucked, haven’t tried it online due to the fact I don’t have xbconnect or gamespy yet, but I’ve done 3 on 3 system link and it obviously kicked ass (but what massive shooter battles don’t?). I still say the game is overrated though, chumly.

EDIT: Million, any idea if Sonic CD is on that mega-collection? That shit is pre-ordered in a second if it is.

AND FUCK YOU SRK SERVER I’M POSTING THIS NOW.

Sonic Mega Collection does not include Sonic CD. Sega shorted the fans once again.

Yeah, I was peeved once I found out that Sonic CD wasn’t on the disc. For the 2nd time Sega has screwed us. I was gonna buy the Collectiona again just for Sonic CD. Thanks a bunch, Sega. :lame:
