The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Just finished Mario Sunshine, game was nice. But I do believe Mario 64 was superior. Finally after 3 yrs of owning Luigis Mansion I finally played it… and wow what a game. Rite now I like it better than Mario Sunshine. Game is fun and challenging.

I played a some Mega Man Battle Network 1 today. It’s been a while since I’ve played this game. Wow this game owns all over BN4. I saw Wood Man for the first time. Wow. He just pees all over Wood Man from MM2. Screw the Leaf Shield, give me some sharpend logs that raise through the floor any day! I hope I can add him to my chip colletion one day. I went into Higsby’s store, foguht his NumberMan and now he’s mine. The music in BN1 is also much better than BN4. The main battle theme, the boss battle theme, it all rocks.

I also played some DBZ: SW on GBA. I played Gotenks If Story. Even with his time limit, he still rocks and is super powerful. And LV 3 Cell with instant owns.

Well, after a few months of not playing, I picked up Ace Combat 4. I was never all that good at it, but I still managed to get S ranks in all the hard missions, despite the rust. Sure, constant use of the F-15A might have had something to do with that…But I doubt it…

O. M. G.

That, simply put, is the only way to describe Phantasy Star Online Ep 2. It absolutely destroys the whole first game…the art direction, the darker story, the monsters, the levels, the BOSSES…watching my bro face Gal Gryphon is a thing of beauty. The game is just so much more polished, and more RPG-like than Ep 1. IMO, Ep. 2 puts all expansions on all MMOs to shame…it’s not an expansion, they could’ve sold this seperately and I’d have gladly paid.

Yet another reason to be pissed at the utter crap that is C.A.R.D. Revolution.

Try a year or so for me, and the game is Buffy the Vampire Slayer on X-Box. There was this one part that was kicking my butt for days back then so I stopped playing it. I cut it on yesterday, and I beat that part on my 2nd try.

Since I’m 92% through the game, I might as well try to finish it before I open Buffy: Chaos Bleeds.

I have AC04: SS. Actually I have all four AC games but I’ve yet to open my copy of AC044 or even play AC2. AC04 was a steal for $14.99 brand new at fye, though.

DBZ: SW-Just finished Dr. Gero’s story mode. Thankfully even thugh it was his story I only had to play as him once or twice. I dub Gero’s If Story “The Constant Failures of Dr. Gero.” Why? Because every time he fought he got his butt handed to him. Whether it was Goku & Piccolo, Trunks & Vegeta, Goku & Krillin, it didn’t matter. Gero just kept on getting schooled. I’m off to do Buu’s If Story.

*hmm…I gotta get Luigi’s Mansion back…that was the first GC game I had. I never beat it, but ended up selling it off for some money towards another Gamecube, I think.(*first GC dropped a whole distance of under 2 feet!…onto a soft carpet…and bam…1st player controller port stopped working. I didn’t want to bother with the process of getting it fixed.)

DBZ:sw = I haven’t played Gero in awhile, but my impression was that he has to be one of the worst characters in the game. I think his dash even sucks. They could’ve left him out and put in #17, imo.

**–Phantasy Star Online —**Chojin : Ascension
The experience point requirements were getting rediculous now. The Chojin had just leveled to 147, but now the point requirement jumped up to a bit over 500,000. Vol Opt was demolished, and he went right on to the Ruins…in an effort to shave that big number down just a bit. This was becoming tiresome. Chojin cast Ryukker, and teleported back to Pioneer2. It was time to return to the Force chapter of the Hunter’s Guild, for the sake of maintaining his facade of normal behavior. Too much suspicion would prove detrimental to his Great Plan…this had to be remedied at once with simple, yet false socializing.

Right now I’m big on the Streets of Rage series. I hate the first one. It’s boring, dull and not fun. Slow gameplay and kinda hard. The 2nd one is great. Fun and actual adjustable difficulty. Plus I love playin’ with Blaze in the 2nd one. The 3rd one is great, the story goes much deeper and very character is individually different. Plus u get two secret characters. However, the 3rd one can get hard but is still fun.

I did the Ginyu, Cell, and Krillin stories.

Krillin is very powerful in this game! You can guard crush like nuts with that “delayed fb” move!

MM1 on the GB is just as hard, if not harder than MM1 on the NES! Wily’s castle was a serious pain with all those spike pits and Enker schooled me on more than one occasion. And just like MM1 on the NES, NO E TANKS!! I’d like to see someone beat that game. None of that rom stuff though, the actual cart. Game is TOUGH!!!

The GB MM games did have some super tight bosses though, like the aforementioned Enker and Quint. And then you have Punk. Punk was so awesome and powerful. He’d whupp Metal Man’s keister in a second, no contest. And then you have Ballade and Terra. Awesome bosses with awesome powers. Can’t wait to play those games again.

You guys have GOT to check this out:

http://quint.panelmonkey.org/ Its a long series of Mega Man comics starting Quint (MM2 GB) and it uses 8 and 16 bit sprites. The plot involves a lot of time travel but it is very funny and well worth reading. Check it out if you haven’t heard of if.

EDIT: D’oh! I ment to direct the last two posts to the Mega Man thread.

I have the cart for that game. It’s not so bad. I can get through it easier than MM NES. My order was Ice Man (God I love Ice Slasher. Broken all to hell. Very useful against those big jumping things and Sniper Joes), Cut Man, Elec Man, Fire Man. The next level is just takes some effective jumping and shooting (the shield-like effect of Fire Storm helps a lot against the worm generators and the birds), and remembering when you need to equip the Carrier item. At the end is the four reused MM2 bosses. As I recall, it’s Heat Man in the upper left, Bubble Man in the upper right, Quick Man in the lower left, and Flash Man in the lower right. My order was Heat Man, Flash Man, Quick Man, Bubble Man. Then you fight Enker, which is admittedly a pretty tough fight. I’d usually die once or twice on him. Then the final level is just effective use of the Thunder Beam and Ice Slasher, plus Carrier where needed, and Flash Stopper during the ladder part with all the birds. Dr. Wily dies to the Enker weapon (Energy Buster?) like a little bitch, so much so that it’s just laughable.

I remember having trouble with Mega Man 1 and 3 on Game Boy. In this case, the sound effects is what made the game’s balance. I only own and played 1-3 on GB. Came close to getting MM5 when it first came out. The display was there but all the copies were sold out! So Mega Man 4 and 5 pretty much slipped right by.

OMFG! The worst Mega Man I’ve played was the one on Game Gear that was made by that company “US Gold”. They shouldn’t have had anything to do with Capcom period, in fact I think THEY were the reason why Strider Hiryu went MIA until Marvel vs. Capcom, that horrible “sequel” Strider Returns had pretty much almost killed him off. The Mega Man on Game Gear had its share of stages from Mega Man 4 and 5, The same configuration of the stages, but in order to fit that microscopic screen, they had to put flying screen in. That’s what killed the game. You can’t see everything, and there’s always blind jumps.

Played alot of Xenogears today. Currently leveling up in the desert of Dazil with Fei and Citan learning deathblows and other shit like that.

I am so ashamed of skipping out on Xenogears, or at least just playing it for a few minutes and then quitting when I was at this one guy’s house about a few years back. So far, I think this game lives up to the hype alot of ppl have put on it. This XG combo system, y’know when watching the live SF3: 3rd Strike tournament matches when Yun lays the Genei-Jin smackdown and the crowd’s yelling “HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEEEEYYY!!!” at the rhythm of the hits? I seem to be catching myself doing that everytime I do a 5 hit combo.

Xenogears = THE TRUTH.

Just be wary when you finally reach the second disc, the story goes into “gonna be awhile, grab a Snickers…and hit the X button a LOT” mode.

Tales of Symphonia !!

Playing Splinter Cell Pandora Tommorow.

This game is like Metal Gear + Hitman, since I like them both, I like this one too. Too bad the ISO i DLed for the first splinter cell game was corrupted, or else I would’ve play that one first.

Mega Man Battle Network 4: Blue Moon - As much as I’d rather play the superior first BN game I’ve decided to go ahead and finish BN4 because I’ve already put more than 20 hours into the game. The tournaments and deep battle system save the game because the story is the absolute worst out of ANY Mega Man game. I kid you not.

Dragon Ball Z: Super Sonic Warriors - This game is KING! Thanks to this wonderful game I have no pity on myself for not having played DBZ: Hyper Dimensions! I admit I did like the Budokai games but after playing SW, there is no going back to those games. NONE! DBZ: SW is the point of no return… The GOOD kind. There are actual strength and power differences to the fighters so none of the characters in the game are just clones of each other cough Budokai cough. Great fighters: Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta (LV3 PWNZ JOO!), Frieza (BLOW UP THE WHOLE DUMB PLANET!! BLOW IT ALL UP!!! … :D), Cell, Majin Buu/Super Buu, Gotenks, 18, Trunks. The Suck Team :bluu: : Ginuy, Gero.

Bumpage.

Talk about hitting the jackpot. I went to the mall today and picked up the following:

  1. Mega Man Zero 2-$19.99 (New)
  2. Xenosaga-$14.99 (Used with instructions)
  3. Street Fighter Alph-$7.99 (Used with instructions, PS1 ver.)
  4. Pilotwings 64 $7.99 (Used)
  5. Victorious Boxers-$14.99 (Used)

I NEVER thought I would see a copy of the first SFA game and even better it has instrctions and the case isn’t all crappy. I’m also glad I found Victorious Boxers because they game is pretty rare and I’m a fan of the anime series Fighting Spirit.

past 2 weeks i been playing some guilty gear xx reloaded and some king of fighters 2k,2k1,2k2,2k3 with some rage of the dragons on the xbox
