The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Yes, it’s a hard game, but it’s fun.

Wal-Mart gets games early, but doesn’t put them out. I remember them getting Tekken 3 nearly 3 weeks before the release date.

Apparently, someone at Remy’s Wally-World wasn’t paying attention and put them out early.

Ah, I see. That’s cool.

I picked up River City Ransom EX, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour ($24.99) and Botkai ($14.99)

Bumpage.

Right now I’m working on River City Ransom EX. I never played much of my NES copy so I’ve decided to play the GBA version til the end. Some of the things the thugs say are funny when you kick the crap out of them like “BARF!” or “Not the face!” and one of my faves “This blows my day…” When I read in the manual that the “Dragon Twins” had taken over the city I was like "That has got to be the Lee brothers from Double Dragon. BTW does anyone know what Alex and Ryan’s names originally were? I’m positive they’ve been changed for the GBA version (not that it bothers me).

Right now, I’m playing Custom Robo. It’s similar to Armored Core, if anyone’s familiar with that, but not as in-depth as AC as far as customization goes.

I’m also working on Gotcha Force. Another good game, but it’s a bit on the rare side, seeing as there weren’t a lot of copies made. It’s like Virtual On, but with more robots to choose from. Grab it if you can.

man…I’m just not seeing River City Ransom(gba) here. I went today to check if Gamestop had it, but no luck. Target didn’t have it either the other day. I’m anxious to see for myself why this game is so loved by pretty much everyone…it’s one classic I missed out on. (yeah, I can already tell it’s something I’d enjoy.)

Well, I WAS playing Megaman Battle Network 3. This is my first time playing any of the BN-megaman games…I just bought it on a whim because it was 15 bucks…and it feels like I just flushed 15 bucks down the toilet. The graphics are great, and I LOVE that cool design for megaman and other characters. But the problem is the battle system. It’s just not fun. I’d rather run around like the REAL Megaman games…not jump from space to space as if he’s on a chessboard. And then there’s the whole bit with selecting something, and then switching over to real time to use it…it’s just not cool with me. It seems unnecessary, and more importantly…not fun.:frowning: I tried to sell it off to a friend and his wife the other day…they didn’t like that shit either. She couldn’t get into it…and I forgot that he was never a big Megaman fan in the first place.

Anyway, if Megaman was really running around freely and it was 100% real time…I would’ve loved this Battle Network stuff. As it is…the battle system pisses all over what could’ve been a tight game, imo.

So…I’m back to Phantasy Star Online, SMB3, and occasional Viewtiful Joe.
haha…I STILL haven’t finished Prince of Persia. The other games just kept getting in the way.

I may get Custom Robo next though…I played the demo at a store, and it seemed fun…they went a bit overboard on some of the robot designs, but just from the few minutes I played…it’s FUN.

…and Steven Segal became a police officer in the future…aint that some shit?

i bought banjo kazooie and banjo Tooie at gamestop yesturday…i passed banjo kazooie long time ago, but never ever touched or seen banjo tooie before…time to see what its made of…hope its fun.

I’ve never touched my copy of Banjo-Tooie that I bought brand new for $10 at Circuit City last year. But since I really enjoyed BK I should like BT as well.

I’m still trucking way on River City Ransome EX. I switched over from playing it on my GBA to playing it on the GB Player. I can’t believe how much more sharp, crisp and colorful it looks on my 27" Sharp TV. If you have this game and a GBP, I highly recommend playing it on the GBP. Punk2 (I changed Alex’s name) is turning into one bad mutha. His Will Power is maxed out at 255 and his Kick has finally surpassed his punch. Now I’m saving up money to buy more techniques. BTW, has anyone bought the Helicopter move? For some reason it didn’t work for me. Was a waste of $100 but I saved before I bought it just in case. The Slap Happy technique, however, is worth every penny.

Herez something I got for all the Rockman & Forte players that bitch alot about Mega Man’s side of the game being more harder than Bass’. I just hooked up my SNES to my VCR and VHS-taped myself playing R&F with Mega Man. So far I taped my beating all 8 bosses and the gem chambers that give bolts. Later on I’ll tackle King’s Fortress and Wily’s Castle, and then in the words of a music video director…

“THAT’S A WRAP!!!”

Famicom, PM!

Playing Project Justice of all games, King of Fighters 99 Evo, and Breakdown.

must get Riddick and Psi-Ops

I finished River City Ransome Ex tonight. The Dragon Twins were cake thanks to my Torpedo special attack. And Slick was easy too. Of course I had PUNK2 so strong that any thug would be dead. Man, I really enjoyed playing through this game. I didn’t max out all of my character’s stats but I’ve a feeling I’d come back to it. I honestly didn’t wanna stop playing but I’ve got other games waiting so I must move on. Time to hit the GC links with Mario and co!

Playing PSO again as my new character, a RAmar (named Kain). Just got me a legit Stag Cutlery, and a Preta mag (although I wanted a Soniti, dammit). So right now, my time online consists of looking for a Bravace (I’ve still got a lame ass Varista), and leveling up enough so that I don’t get slaughtered in Ultimate.

Prince of Persia - sands of time (pc)
UT 2004 (pc) omg why is the multiplayer so freaken delicious?

Let’s see what I’m playing…
Well I got my stick from Dreaded Fist, and it works like a dream, so I’m playing some 3rd Strike, MvC2, and re-learning GGXX (I’ve never played GGXX on a stick since there’s no machines in this damnable city  ).

I also picked up Bombastic and Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for cheap. I never thought a game could get more confusing than Devil Dice, but Bombastic is Devil Dice on Bomberman crack. LoI is alright, I mainly bought it just for the soundtrack :D.

One more thing, me and my friend beat this really cool PS2 game called Magic Pengel. It’s kinda like pokemon, but you DRAW your own creatures. We’ve made some pretty random things (ie a one-eyed bird with a baboon ass, and an imaginary friend). Highly recommended to all.

I was just playing PSO a few hours ago. I got BigNTasty to Ultimate @ level 51…now he’s in Ultimate Caves at level 53…yeah, Big is not legit at all:p I bumped his stats up just a bit over what they would normally be with the max-stats trick. The reason I didn’t go all the way with that; I still want some level of character development there…I just felt like getting him into Ultimate TODAY, rather than later on. So now I have at least 4 characters in Ultimate…only 1 is above level 100 though. BigNTasty will wear Flame Garment when he hits lv.101.(FG’s level requirement)…that’s just because it kinda goes with his gimmick.

I also finally took down some notes(right in my old PSO strategy guide) on the whole max-stat thing, so I could never forget it.
EDIT***I also was reminded of all my fun online with this game. Big was one of my “online characters”. I had this particular memory card dedicated to that, to protect my “serious” characters from potential FSODX/corruption. Of course, I ended up getting attached to these characters as well, especially since I ended my Hunters’ License.

The memories—I still have all my cool symbol chats on the shortcuts. Big’s Burger Logo symbol chat is still the definition of awesomeness…**

the other day at a friend’s house, I played Champions of Norrath for the first time. That game is so tight…it’s one more reason for me to get a Ps2…someday:p(*when it’s dirt cheap) Of course my character’s name is “CHOJIN”, and he’s a dark elf type. This game actually has the best graphics I’ve seen on a hack/slash RPG. The environments are beautiful, and the characters are well designed.(*except one of the other elf-type characters…he looks so damn fruity…like something out of a Sigfreid/Roy show.) But yeah…it was just alright at first, but things got more fun/interesting when “CHOJIN” leveled up a little more, and I could finally use my first magical attack>> some Poisonous energy blast. I joked with my friend that I was hitting the monsters with “the AIDS”. Chojin PESTILENCE ATTACK!

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour-Better than Mario Golf on the N64, and that game was great. My played a decent first game in stroke play with Koopa but I dished out mad ownage in my firs Tourney with Luigi. I won with nothing but pars and birdies. And thanks to the ability tos ave & quit at any time I bad a score of -5 and won like 4 badges.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (GC ver.)-Well I started playing this game again. I’m still not a king in combat yet so I often get hit by cheap enemies that gang up on me. Gah!!

Tetris Attack. Hard mode. I’m talking about REAL hard, as in L + up + Hard.

I’ve beaten it, but I swear the difficulty fluctuates. sometimes I can’t even beat Raphael the Raven. Like today.

For a while, I couldn’t post here because I was only playing one game. Normally I play about 3 or 4 at the same time.

That game was Final Fantasy 11. I think It’s about time to give that shit up though. There’s no reasonable way to play by yourself unless you’re a beastmaster. And everything else is so convoluted that I just can’t stay excited about it.

I started getting back into games I bought since I started playing FFXI and some fighters (tryin to get my chops back.)

Guilty Gear XX. Trying to learn Ky and Testament. I’m an Axl/Faust/Millia player mostly, but I’ve always been interested in learning Ky (the holy knight bitch!). If anyone wants to slip me a few Ky pointers, the mods won’t mind lol.

Red Dead Revolver. This game is too good. Games don’t capture the atmosphere of what they’re trying to convey like this anymore. It has everything you’ve seen in western movies. Gunfights, saloon brawls, showdowns (love the quickdraw system). Recommended for anybody that likes Max Payne. Very entertaining.

Transformers. I ignored the mixed reviews for the game and decided to pick it up for myself. Since I’m a TF fan I like it a lot. Nice controls, graphics, and variety in the minicon abilities. I like it for being a collectible game too. Like MK: Deadly Alliance’s ‘koffin’ system, you can collect a lot of old transformer stuff like PSA’s, action figure designs, and different versions of the theme music.

Need for Speed: Underground. I never did beat this game, and thus don’t have a car to compete with others online. Tryin to finish so I can take my ride online and play some human opponents.

PSO = BigNTasty is now level 63 and in Ultimate Mines, and I’ll get back to that adventure after this post. I also changed his outfit just for the hell of it…Big has 999,999 Meseta of course…I figured I’d burn money on something:p

RIVER CITY RANSOM!!! = I knew it. I KNEW this game would kick ass. Just the description of “Double Dragon action + some RPG mixed in” already gave me some high hopes, and it delivers. I got the game today, as my regular store just got a new shipment in. This has to be one of the greatest GBA games out there at the moment. I only stopped playing to get on here and post how great it is. Ohhhh it’s too bad I missed out on this the first time. Someone mentioned it hit about 1990…that may be the reason. I got the Genesis around that time, and no longer bought NES games.

And I hear you can customize your character’s appearance…oh, I can’t wait to dig into that…character customization is always a big plus with me…

Anyway, I’ve already upgraded a little bit with an Import Magazine or something…and a “Indian Book”(?!), and some lasagna(*one of the best foods ever created, btw.)

I’ve been working on getting all A ranks on Sonic Heroes, so that I can unlock Super-Hard mode. So far, I’ve got 91 (I think there are 141 total to get, if my math is correct). Every boss fight, every Team Rose level, and every Team Sonic level, plus a few Team Dark levels.
