The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Namco Museum 50th Anniversary: Well the '80s songs they included are Joystick, Working For The Weekend, Come On Ileen, Talking In Your Sleep, and She Drives Me Crazy. With the exception of Come on Ileen, I like the songs but only 5? Meh. And on top of that, you can only listen to them when you’re selecting which game to play. Digital Eclipse, if you’re going to copy Activsion, at least remember to DO IT RIGHT!! Other than that, and the fact that Namco has already released these games on various compilations across various systems, I’m enjoying this set. My high score on Ms. Pac-Man is 24520. Is Ms. Pac really better than her hubby? It’s tougher that’s for sure. I played Rally-X for the first time about 10 minutes ago. I’ve wanted to see what that game was about and it turned out to be pretty good. Being able to “smoke” your enemies is awesome.

Galaga '88 became available after scoring more than 15000 points on Pac-Man. Game is fun and I dig the updated music and effects but the original Galaga is STILL king. Best '80s shooter. Ever.

Pole Position sucked when I played it a few years ago for the first time and I doubt little has changed since then. So I doubt I’ll care for PPII.

Side note: for hardcore old-school players, the music and sound effects as far as I can tell are arcade perfect.

^HOOOOHHHHHH!^ This collection has GALAGA 88!!? :wow: I’m instantly sold. Besides, you can never have enough Ms. Pacman.

*finally, Galaga 88…I was sure I’d never get to play that again…

Was I the only gamer who had no idea there was/is a Galaga '88? Crawls out from under his rock I don’t know if the arcade version let you do this but you have the option to start with one or double ships. If you start with 2 ships you have 2 spair ships, but if you go with doubles, you’ll only have one spair ship.

More on DDRMAX2. I’ve almost got everything unlocked and I’ve gotten a few more AA ranks. Sadly, the AAA rank still eludes me. I just miss a few perfect steps and my chances of a AAA rank go out the window. Mind you, I’m still playing on Beginner but some of these songs even on that setting are tough.

I played a bit of the first DDRMAX. Since I got better at DDRMAX2 pretty quickly, I figured I wouldn’t need to go into the Lesson mode. Well humility has already showed back up into my gaming life and I’ve already failed the Arcade mode! And on my first try! And I even unlocked a song for failing! The song was called “Celebrate” and the game said I could “celebrate my first failure in style.” Terrific, now the even the game makes me feel like a scrub.

EDIT: Oh, thanks for the PM about Hard Hats, Remy. Cool website.

Finally got my DS, AW:DS, and Meteos. Meteos is owning my soul right now. Never played such an addictive game.

I concur, Meteos is the new form of video game crack. I encourage everyone to smoke as much as they can!!

Who’s gotten all the planets? I just fused Meteo and completed the collection last weekend.

My favorite planets are Megadom and Gravitas. I just like the music and simplicity of Megadom, and Gravitas’ settings are challenging in a fun way.

EDIT: Oh, and n/p Reggie. I just thought you, being the MM fan that you are, might like to know.

How many planets are their in Meteos? And I’m still new to the whole fusion thing.

Alot. Look on the Star trip branch mode, every blue dot is a different planet with Meteo being 1 planet you can get.

my fav planet levels so far are Firim (I like the gravity on this stage) and Megadon

Edit: Oh and one other thing, from now on, stop fusing anything at all until you get to:
5000 each of Air/Fire/Water/Soil
3000 each of Iron/Zap
2000 each of Herb/Zoo
1000 each of Glow/Dark
5 each of Soul/Time

The reason you want to wait is because that is the largest requirement for a fusion in the game and when you reach that, you will have unlocked the ability to fuse almost everything that can be fused. That only leaves some items, sounds, and I think a few planets left. that you’ll have left since some of those are unlocked other ways.

Yeah, I was kinda dissapointed to find out that it was a remake of the PC version of the game, I had my heart set on playing the original, but ended up getting that. No big deal, I still enjoyed it nonetheless!

Also, found a copy of Amplitude at Toy’s R Us for only 7 bux so I decided to pick it up,fun game!

Beat “Riot Zone” on my PC Engine Duo-R last night. It’s a good game in its own right, but it’s another uninspired Final Fight clone.

Has anyone ever beaten Final Zone II for Turbografx CD? I never played the US version, but I have the JP version and it’s hard as hell!

That’s not true. There are a few planets that require 8000 of some stuff. Those’re just the Meteo requirements.

There are a total of 32 planets, Reggie. Unforetunately, I don’t remember all of the exact requirements for everything, though. But I do remember that most of the weapons and music are fairly cheap. Also, it says “completed!” with a little picture of a Geolyte guy when you’ve fused everything that you can in that area.

Heh, I didn’t think Simon looked that bad. Maybe because I think nothing can homoize the manliest of all the Belmonts. Oh well, at least he’s still rocking the man-skirt in Chronicles.

I also wish for the triumphant return of ‘Cross Your Heart’. I mean, ‘Aquarius’ made a surprise return in Circle of the Moon, so hopefully they give ‘Cross Your Heart’ some love in a future game.

Trying to beat MGS3 on extreme. Without breaking my legs alot to get health. Which is making things difficult.

Sami is deadly! Pair her with Eagle then you’ll get the ultimate base capture team. Force ranks only make this team more broken.

“Clockwork” is also in CotM, sort of, only a few bars of it anyway. Oh and “Big Battle” (CV3 Dracula 2nd and 3rd forms)

I myself have quite a list of Castlevania tunes that do need to come back:
> Out of Time (CV1 final stage)
> Monster Dance (Simon’s Quest Night music)
> Anxiety (CV3)
> Riddle (CV3)

According to the Castlevania music FAQ, a lot of old songs made a comeback in CotM. Most of them are from Bloodlines, but the selection is pretty varied.

I wasn’t very fond of Wicked Child’s rendition in Chronicles, so it needs to make a proper return as well.

I picked digital devil saga back up in order to beat the smt:nocturne protagonist. hardest fucking fight ever.

I had to take out my magic switch as i travelled with the ps2 over labor day. Now I cant get one of the pieces back in right (the one i knew i would have problems with) so Shadow Tower: Abyss is on hold until I do. I was getting my ass kicked in the waterfall area.

Yeah, Gasarki already told me about how to play Sami in the [short-lived] Advance Wars thread that I made. And yeah, I’ve been using her and Eagle in War Room missions, and it’s craziness.

the arcade version of galaga did not let you start with 2 ships, you would have to let it get captured and then shoot the bug down to get it attached to your ship…

im outi

Roberth

Oh, ok then, sorry bout that. But I think you get the idea of what I was suggesting right?
