…I noticed this as well. My ultima is at lv.16 and it very seldom takes over 1000 points, but my Maria also has holy and it ALWAYS takes over 1000 points. I don’t know why this is, but I tend to rely on Holy’s efforts rather than Ultima’s. My Flare isn’t powered up yet so I can’t differentiate its efforts damage wise, but from the way it’s looking it might be stronger than Ultima…
…Yeah I agree that FF2’s System has much depth as well, just wanted to point out its flaws though…
you know what pisses me off about ff:dos? No matter how strong your magic is,powered up physical attacks will always do more, especially in ff1.It would be cool if their was a way to power up your magic attacks. And in regards to the ultima being inferior to holy thing, maybe you have to teach it to firion for it to be at full capacity or something.

…Ok, I just checked back on my FF: DOS and I have another profile with Firion having ultima. It’s powered up too (lv.16), but it still takes like 988 or something like that…
…It’s not the fact that I thought ultima was a weak spell, because really it isn’t. It’s the fact that other spells do more damage and or better looking. I love it when I cast flare when it’s powered up, the effects are great AND it takes great damage. Ultima at lv.16 starts out ok, but ends pretty bad effect wise ( the animations )…
i only got ultima up to level 12 when i figured it would never be as powerful as holy or flare. So i gave up on it and started concentrating on getting flare and holy up.A great tactic in ff2 i found out is:teach teleport to a character,(do it on a character wholl stay with you forever though),then go to a town.walk inside, use teleport, rinse and repeat,it levels it up,when you have it up to higher levels like 10 or more itll be able to instantly kill many enemies. And also invest in osmose,(the spell that allows you to absorb enemies mp),i taught it to maria and it saved me alot because i would have mp to cast cure to keep my party healthy in the brutal later levels.
…I have teleport at lv 10 but I really didn’t see the difference between it and warp ( which I also have at lv. 10 ). I got confused on which works better, but as the game progressed I kinda figured teleport was better in the long run. Plus, it gets you out of tight places I think. I also have Osmose at lv. 6, but it already gives me all the MP I need to keep casting high spells so I don’t think it’s a necessity to lv. it up…
Getting a 5-Star rating on every map as every character will earn you the Handcannon. The HC is a .50 magnum revolver that starts with moderately good damage and a 3-round barrel, but can be upgraded to such high damage that it will down anything including bosses in one or two hits, all with infinite ammo.
Picked up Dungeon Lords - PC RPG and the most recent Star Ocean now that I have a ps2. I don’t what reviewer had a stick up his ass when he reviewed Dungeon Lords in GameInformer but it’s damn fun so far, imagine a straight-foward morrowind with better graphics and a faster/smoother combat system.
Super Mario 64 DS is just crazy fun. I now have 29 stars, and I have beaten the first Bowser level. Now I just need to find Luigi and Wario’s keys so I can free them.
I got all my party members up to level 99 on FFI. I don’t think I’ve ever got a party to level 99 in an RPG. Well I’m gonna take them to waste Shinryu and the final bonus dungeon. Death Gaze shouldn’t be able to screw with me now. Heck, I doubt Death Machine can touch me at this point.
i was playing meteos and i have the planet meteo ready to fuse for quite some time now.The problem is,i want to fuse all other planets first,i did this except for one planet which i dont know how to get it ready to be fused.I enventually ended up fusing meteos, but i still cant figure out how to get that one last planet.
I’ll give you a hint. You need Mario to free Luigi, and Luigi to free Wario. Actually, where to get them from is pretty obvious once you see the spots. You just have to actually go there.
Took me forever but I finally found Luigi. After playing Luigi’s Mansion back in 2001, it was pretty easy to guess what course I had to go to. I kinda wish everyone was available from the start. I already have nearly 40 stars and that was just with Mario and Yoshi. Also, so far from what I’ve played, it seems like you only need to use the other character to get a handful of stars. But I could be wrong about that. They did add 30 more stars to find.
Yeah, most of them give you options on what character to use. I tended to use Yoshi for coin gathering, since he can get extra coins by bouncing eggs between multiple baddies, and get coins from some enemies immediately by swallowing them. And other than that, I just stuck with the character who I thought handled the course best. Like Mario in Wet-Dry World, Luigi in Tall, Tall Mountain, and Wario in Lethal Lava Land.
Anyone here playing or played GTA SA before? I got back into it and I remember why I stopped, I’m stuck on a damn racing mission. Anyone have any tips, on how to pass “Farewell My Love” in San Fierro? I tried some cheats but they don’t work during the mission, even the blowing cars up one doesn’t work since your car explodes as well.
Mostly the old school characters such as Taizo (Dig Dug), Wonder Momo and Bravoman, Valkyrie, etc. although there are more recent ones such as Gantz and Klonoa and Xenosaga characters (KOS-MOS, Shion, and M.O.M.O.)
For Capcom, it’s a mix of the older characters (Strider, Captain Commando, Mayor Mike), the staples like Ryu/Ken/Chun-Li/Sakura/Morrigan/Demitri and some more recent ones (e.g. Hideo and Kyoko, Tron, and the Megaman Legends version of Megaman and Roll).
No “new” new characters such as Prince from Katamari Damacy, or Dante, or such.
The game’s fun, and really easy for the most part. There are just some missions where certain requirements must be meant (e.g. Character X must survive, get Character Y next to item or place Z, etc.). Nothing that a trip to GameFAQs FAQS/boards of NxC can’t solve.
Wow they picked a good lineup for old school Namco characters. I remember playing Bravoman for Turbografx years ago, and I believe Wonder Momo was one of the first games to feature “female panty shots”.
Well I played Tekken 5 at my friend Brandon’s place. Finally got to see what the fuss was all about. I’ve always liked Tekken but I thoguht T5 wasn’t all that and a bag of chips. Turns out the game is pretty tight. A few fresh faces and the inclusion of Tekken 1-3 is just too good. The final boss, Jinpachi is just wrong on so many levels. He could very well be the cheapest boss in all fighting games. Roger Jr. is a let down though. I loved Roger and Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag but Roger Jr. was a huge disappointment.
I also played Tales of Sympohonia with my pal Brandon. The game has a pretty cool combat system and it reminded me of the glory days of Secret of Mana.
on FFI, I went back into the Lifespring Grotto and I had to fight Gilgamesh again. Even with my party at level 99 and 999 HP each, Gilgamesh still did 400+ HP of damage with single attacks to a party member. But my crew made short work of him anyway so it was all good. I’m gonna take down Shinryu and then head to the final bonus dungeon. After that, I’ll head to the Temple of Chaos to complete the game.
