The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Well I’m gonna go to Game Crazy some time this week to trade some more games in. So long Yu Yu Hakusho: Dartk Tournament. So long Sword of Mana. I don’t really think I’ll miss either of these games along with the rest that I’m trading in.

I opened up my copy of Space Channel 5: Special Edition. Fun game but tough, just like most music themed games are for me. I was thinking about trading it in but I think I’ll keep it. I had fun playing the first level and that groovy music just sticks with me for some odd reason.

Played a little bit of X-Men Mutant Apocolypse. Not a bad game but it is on the tough side. I thought about keeping it but I’m not sure.

I was so close to beat Neon Tiger on Mega Man X3. After 2 tries, I had him down to 3 more pegs of energy on my last life. I think you’re supposed to go to him first. I haven’t played X3 since early 1996.

Just finished DaH, end fights were awesome, I felt like such a bad ass afterwards. :bgrin: They also set up a sequel nicely.

SPOILERS:

Basically you assassinate the president, then go to the White House to meet Silhouette for whats supposed to be a surrender. Turns out Silhouette is a woman, she unleashes Americas greatest weapon on you…Robo-Prez. Its a ginat mech which you fight and chase via your saucer blowing shit up the whole time. Once you topple it Silhouette challenges you personally, this fight was a bitch, she keeps recharging her shields and calling in agents and robots during the fight, took me a few tries but its easily the toughest fight in the game.

After lookin at the new screens for this, I hope for the best for this game. I’m more of a something should stick in it’s own genre of things but hopefully this kicks ass. I just might have to import the SE.

Still need to get my PS2 modded tho’… :bluu:

I had thought you had to destroy them in order to proceed. shrug They were pretty tough. I think I put a full load of Riotslugs and a full load of Super Stingbees, plus a couple Boombat Seekers into the two of them.

I hope they do a sequel to this game, but come up with a reason to put Stranger back in his Clint Eastwood outfit. None of that stupid armor and shit (I don’t wanna spoil it). And more hunting bounties.

I’m playing Freelancer right now. For those who don’t know it’s kinda like Diablo 2, but in space, with space ships. If you like space sims like Tie Fighter you should try this one, it’s pretty good.

Beating X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse is just a matter of practice. I think my best characters were Wolvie and Psylocke. Cyclops is just plain cheap…he can keep away all day long with those beams, heh heh.

Remember…you have to beat the game in one sitting (without using passwords) if you want to see the good ending.

Well since I’m a KOF newbie, I figured I’d start my training. I sat down and played some KOF 2000 this afternoon. Beat arcade mode. The boss, Zero had this one move that paralizes you and then he breaks out this 6 hit combo on you or something. I got caught in that mess twice. The move wreaked of cheese but I take that over shudders Rugal and Geese Howard any day. Like Iori and K, those guys DO NOT screw around. I discovered the awesomeness that is Kim. Dude is a bonafide kick master. I think I actually like him better than Terry. Well at least as far as KOF 2000 goes. Kyo is also pretty tight. One thing I like about the KOF series is that there is a near equal amount of women fighters as their is to men. I mean in SF, there are only a handful of babes but in KOF, you can’t go through the fighter roster without crossing a ton of hottie fighters.

Did y’all know there’s a Double Dragon II for Japanese PC Engine CD?

I’m actually getting it very shortly.

I beat that game too when I was younger. I think it was the first non-fighting game to feature fighting game motions. That alone made it good  . I’m sure it was made because there was no way in hell COTA could have been ported to the SNES in any recognizable form so, instead, Capcom did the next best thing and made Magneto a real bitch to beat.

They also gave Marvel Super Heroes the Snes treatment, but I never got to play that one. It seemed pretty ghetto anyway. :pleased:

Just beat Kirby’s Canvas Curse. Excellent game, Thanks for the reccomendation Kyoji.

Playing Bomberman for the DS now. Multiplayer is a lot of fun, especially since you can have the 7 other CPU opponents to play against.

I made a thread about it yesterday but it seems like nobody is really interested in the game. :xeye: Oh well.

Does anybody know when Nintendo plans to go Online withe the DS?

Have you beaten Crush Crawfish yet? If you did, then CC’s weapon would make short work of Neon Tiger.

Anyways, I broke out my SNES and Lufia II. Currently at the Ancient Cave. I must’ve spent 6 hours on that alone.

I just started playing X3 last night. Only got past the intro stage. Maybe I should kill Crush Crawfish first.

Lufia II. Good stuff! Good story, great music. I have the whole soundtrack in MIDI formate. Even there, it is excellent. Loved the boss theme in that game.

Well I played KOF 2001 and I must say it pounces all over KOF 2000. KOF '01 has smoother spirtes (and shinner ones at that), better music, sweet art design and is overall a much better game. That isn’t to say I didn’t have fun with KOF '00 but compared to '01, it just doesn’t stack up. Party Mode rocks. I’ve already unlocked several Arcade version stages. And K9999 is awesome. I don’t know what tier he’d be ranked in but he is easily one of my favorites. The two things that irked me about '01: the final two bosses. I made it past the first guy only after 1/3 that mother’s life guage. That other son of a… well even 1/3rding his life didn’t do much. That cheap scrub has moves and combos that can knock off more than half your life and your Strikers may as well be urinating on him because they do JACK in the damage department.

Ah I remember that one. Man that was such a good game… I remember playing it back when it first came out.

Flipnic-Played a demo of this game. I never was too good at pinball games or even real life pinball but this game offers an ineresting take on the genre with lively tables. From what I’ve read, the pinball physics are dead on and for $20, pinball freaks may want to check it out.

Destroy All Humans-This was also a demo but I enjoyed what little that I did play. Krypto is excellently voiced and the 1950s theme is uber cool. I was laughing out loud when I saw a cow take a dumb. And tossing cows = priceless. I can even read the thoughts of people and animals. And jolting those foolish humans was so much fun. And I even took out a farmers brain and added it to Krypto’s. And then I got to board my space ship and blew stuff up!!! That was so much freaking fun!! I’ll be buying this game for sure but I don’t wanna pay $50 for it. I’ll wait for a price drop.

Current fav KOF game: KOF 2001. Game just rocks it. Playing '02 as I write this.

Ehhhh Lufia 2 is just a brain hemmorage waiting to happen…

^Destroy All Humans gets even better as you get further along in the game. Cool things happen that of course I don’t want to spoil. The weapon I just got last night is incredible.(*launch a strange bomb that can be remotely detonated…the blast completely DISENTEGRATES people.)

Wheeeeeeeeeee.

Basically polishing up my MvC2 skills before T6 (got new buttons too!!). I’m up for the team tourney as well if anyone wants to join me. Also entering Vampire Savior and HSF, but I’m not too concerned about those. I don’t even know who I want to use in VS.

Diablo 2: LoD (pc): Still playing this, though not as intensely as usual. My Vengeance paladin solo’d hell difficulty with little problem and finished (I think) at level 81. He’s 87 now, and I’m basically just using him for mf’ing (he has 202%mf, which I think is great since I don’t have mf gear on most of my equipment slots). Mainly just getting stuff for my Wind druid.

Metal Gear Solid 3 (ps2): I got pissed after I shot every fucking frog and didn’t get the stealth camo. I’m 100% sure I got them all, I even made a checklist, I didn’t die, and made sure to shoot them again whenever I loaded my save. So I’m still regrouping before I go for it again. :annoy:

Way of the Samurai (ps2): I was sorting and recording my collections recently, and I forgot I even had this game!! Still kicks as much ass as I remembered. I lost my 3 best swords (999health/50atk/50def/40%+ Blocking), so I’m also still realing from that.

Advance Wars 2: Casually progressing, doing a mission whenever I feel like it.

Zoom.

Reggie: The 9-Volt look is okay, but you should get a gif of the Jimmy dance. You know I’m right.

X-Death, good to see ya! And you’re not dead!! Jimmy is tight but I like 9-Volt more. He’s the ownage on old-school lovin’.
 That said, I will look for some Jimmy avs.

I’ve been jumping from game to game like mad:

Metal Slug 4 & 5 is killer. And in MS5… YOU CAN SLIDE!! :wow: Sliding in a MS game = top tier. Both of these games were well worth the money. Why some fans would dislike MS4 is beyond me. Cool bosses, sweet level designs, twitch finger action, etc.

Serious Sam: The Next Encouter really surprised me. I’ve had this game for more a year now and I finally sat down and played it. I went through the first two levels racking up tons of combos on kills. Nevermind intricate level designs or gripping stories. It’s all about the KILLAN!!! Blood, gore!! Lots of gore!! I love it!! And the chainsaw is tightness. I can’t believe I even thought about trading this in. This game is a keeper.

Well, like I said earlier, it isn’t that 4 or 5 are particularly bad, it’s just that 2, X, and 3 are so infinitely superior that it isn’t even funny. I disliked the fact that new characters replaced old characters, they should’ve just been added. Most of the new vehicles are lame. The bosses are very different from the old ones, in a not-as-fun way. Dual SMGs is really stupid because it is exactly like Heavy Machine Gun, except it lacks the ghetto diagonal shots. And I hate the new point thingy (IIRC, it’s called “rank”; the little medals awarded for rapid kills) because it is just another reason to feel like an idiot when you die (since all the points go away; as if losing the rescued soldiers wasn’t bad enough).

Anyway, like I said. I do enjoy 4 and 5. I will pick up the collection. But I just think that 2, x, and 3 are far better.

TNE was pretty good. Check out The First and Second Encounters for PC/X-Box. I like the enemy design better in those, since TNE’s new enemies tend to look really whacky in comparison. I’ve also always preferred mouse/keyboard over dual sticks for FPS. But anyway, yeah… TNE is pretty good too.

I just got SNES-Station. I am overwhelmed with all the SNES goodness. I have no clue where to start. Should I play the games I loved growing up, or should I play the great ones I missed?

WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 SNES GAMES? (in your humble opinion)
