Crusader-- rent or borrow Star Ocean. Or buy it used, to see if you like it or not to take it back. Either you’ll love it or you’ll hate it.

Million-- You need to play Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. Either Best Buy for 29.99, or that Circuit City deal may have it.

I just beat it. I’m satisfied, but I still think they fucked up on the last quarter of the game. The final boss was the easier than any other boss in the game-- including the first one. Hell, it was easier than the average grunt in the final levels.

Personally, the corpse -> ammo system used in the later areas makes the game too easy because it basically gives you infinite ammo. A dead guy sucks up fast, and still gives you a decent supply of ammo. I pretty much ran around using Super Stingbees, Boombat Seekers, and Riotslugs with impunity. On the rare occasion that you run across a solitary guy or two, you can easily take them alive and make up any small ammo differential you may be missing.

co-sign, and yes. Well, all of the gang leaders anyway. I did kill some of the basic thugs. But I took as many of them as I felt I could alive.

Well, most KOF haters like to say “OMG the grafiX SuXor! Eet looks like SNES!”. But ah well, to each their own, I guess…

I assume you’re playing the console version, right? The one that comes along with KOF 2002 in one package? I suggest you give 2002 a spin…it’s considered by most players as the best KOF game (it’s still second best to me, behind KOF '98). It also has much more characters than KOF 2003, and the HSDMs, even though some are utterly useless (and some insanely hard to pull out), they are still fun to watch for the most part (especially Angel’s).

Yamazaki’s HSDM/LDM is top tier.

Weapon tiering–

Sting bees were useless, damage was too light to be effecting. Super Sting Bees were probably the best weapon in the game. Did tons of damage, stunned enemies, and had just enough homing to maintain easy locks.
Normal: C
Upgrade: A

Spiders I discovered too late in the game, but they were the shit even normally. They bind stuff for a really long time, commonly found, and makes the harder enemies simple as pie. The upgrade was icing. Upgrade was best weapon of game, IMO.
Normal: A
Upgrade: A+

Stunkz, or whatever they were called, are the worst weapons. They needed to stun for longer, or have some other effect. The upgraded ones were too good-- they should have made them available sooner. Would have made a lot of areas simpler, and I wouldn’t have detested those fucking skunks so much.
Normal: F-
Upgrade: A

Stun Slugs were pretty much only for bosses and heavy-type enemies. I’m more accustomed to the shotgun being the general use weapon than a specific one. Riot slugs were good-- but the damage they did was really iffy. Point-blank shots didn’t always kill, which is lame.
Normal: B
Upgrade: B+

Zapbugs were… Zapbugs. I could always count on them, and they never let me down. Surprised me, too, when I wound up sniping things that seemed like they should have been out of range.
B+

Chipunks needed the multi-target from the start. The upgrade Skunks > Chippunk upgrade.
Normal: C-
Upgrade: C+

Fuzzies were really dependent. But they didn’t do enough damage until the upgrade, even if they did have their uses.
Normal: C+
Upgrade: B

Boombats were too good, but somewhat rare.
Normal: B+
Upgrade: A

Oh yeah, I’ve got both in the double pack, 2002/2003. Games were worth the $40. They were shipped in limited amounts so I figured I’d better pick them up ASAP. Glad I did.

I also got KOF 2000/2001 a while ago. Haven’t played those yet but I watched my bro-in-law play them. They both look pretty fun.

KOF 2000 and 2001 are not precisely the epitome of KOF playing (KOF 2000 has many retarded striker combos, almost as bad as any MvC 2 assist, and KOF 2001 is riddled with some more retarded shit), but I guess they’re good if you don’t take them too seriously. And if you play KOF 2001…you WILL learn to hate the last boss, Igniz, in a hurry. I find him hard to beat, even with the 1/3 energy handicap you can impose when you continue.

What do you think is the epitome of KOF Lantis? 98?

The KOFs are so different, I try to divide them up in terms of the best of each period myself.

Again: BUY Destroy All Humans immediately. The game is too much fun…especially if you happen to already have a negative opinion of human beings in the first place. The game is actually a bit light-hearted in tone, but it’s perfect to unleash your dark hatred for this pathetic species. I just had a great battle with “The Majestic”, and they really had no chance against my superior powers and technology. heh, and they finally let me play with the Ion Detonator on this stage? Too tight…they never stood a chance.

That’s not to make this game sound like a cakewalk though. You still have to approach any serious battle with the authorities with some common sense and strategy. You can’t just go charging in like you’re absolutely invincible…Crypto can still be overwhelmed especially by the Army or the Majestic.

hehe…and I still love making people shit with that anal probe. It adds a nice touch of destroyed dignity to go along with all the death and destruction.

oh, and I’m not just going on endless rampages here…I’m actually progressing thru the game. I beat 2 more missions today, so I’m probably closer to the halfway mark…I guess…

Yeah, KOF '98 is the best for me, I thought I mentioned that earlier? But yeah, I like KOF ‘98 the best, in a Super Turbo kind of way…I mean, it’s old, it may have not as many bells and whistles as the newer KOF games (HSDM, LDM, Counter/Armor modes, strikers), but it’s so damn solid in the terms that it’s very much balanced. Yes, it does have its’ top tier, but many characters can compete with them, and few matches are totally helpless. The game engine also isn’t so over the top, it just feels right. The thing that I feel that keeps KOF 2002 from being #1 is the MAX combos…they just seem too powerful, and look kinda retarded. But some people like it, so meh…

Im playing Wow & Fire Emblem : Sacred Stones (gba)

Everything else can just fuck off and die…

How are you coming along in that game?

Picked up Wario Ware: Twisted! today. This game is so damn fun, tons of shit to do in it too.

Been getting back into halo 2 when I have time.

Very true.

I disagree with this one. Personally, I dislike the Bolablasts, and preferred the Bolamites with the reload speed-up and the clip increase. When I upgraded to the Bolablasts, I really missed being able to rapidly fire off three in a row. It allowed me to still take care of enemies that were more spread-out quickly. And besides, you don’t have time to scoop up all three guys when they’re wrapped at the same time. At least one would get free before you were done.

Regular Stunkz could be used on the Nailers. Hit them with a Stunkz and immediately begin sucking, and you could bounty them alive off of the one time they puke. But for the most part, I agree. Stunkz sucked, Spark Stunkz were pretty good.

The Zapfly/Thudslug combo made taking most of the bosses pretty easy. You could also use Thudslugs to knock out an enemy from long range, allowing you time to run up and bounty them before they regained consciousness, making them better than Bolamites at a distance. The Riotslugs were a Godsend in the last portion. Extremely good against the big metal tank things (and maybe the ghosts, too? Can’t remember for sure), and also fairly reliable against basic thugs.

Also very true. Extremely reliable for the “weak, infinite ammo” weapon of the game.

Very disagree. Chippunk/Bolamite and Chippunk/Fuzzle were very reliable in the earliest portions of the game. They were the only weapon that could draw enemies away from each other. You could use them to lure single enemies into cover, then ambush them. Whittle the numbers down over time to take less damage over all. It just took some patience. Worthless in the last area, since stealth is neither neccessary nor even viable.

Agreed. Key in some situations, worthless in others. Neccessary for taking Jo Momma alive though.

Personally, my pick for best weapon. Only thing that was really reliable against big groups of guys, and in the final portion where you can get ammo so easily, they really shine.

As for Wasps, what can I say? Basic sniping weapon. Not good in big melees or against enemies that have seen you, but if you have cover and the terrain allowed for it, they can save you from a lot of hits. Unfortunately for snipe-happy people, the terrain didn’t allow for it much in this game.

Star Ocean: the second story brings back good memories. I can’t remember in details but once you get a handful of useful abilities, u basically get uber powerful (like in FFT). It was weird once i got past lvl. 99, i mean, there aren’t many RPGs where you can get past lvl.99

MIRROR SLASH (this moves goes on forever. When you first receive it, i think it does like 4 hits? but i rememeber at level 200? it goes on and on and on… i whiffed one time i had to wait like what seemed to be 30 minutes ( all my other characters were dead)

it isn’t as bad as Lunar’s last boss. TIME TO DIE!!!11one1!

Phantom Brave? I’ll check it out…

Wait, you actually fought those tank-things? They seem like way more trouble than they are worth.

The upgraded spiders don’t need multishots with me-- I just use zapflies to stun if someone is away from the crowd.

Spark Stunkz + Seeker Boombat owned the entire game. Too bad you could only use the combo so late in.

I just beat Monkey Island 3. Now I have to decide which game to play. My choices are Halo 2, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, or Final Fantasy X. They are all still in the shrink wrap :frowning:

I’m at the part where Eirika and Ephraim meet in battle, its pretty cool so far. I haven’t had time to play much, but now I will.

Whats the max lvl in this game? And after you beat it can you still wander around and do stuff?? :stuck_out_tongue:

The max level in the game is 20/20, meaning 20 levels unpromoted, and another 20 levels after promotion, but trainee units like Ross go 10/20/20.

And yeah, when you beat the game you can do the Creature Campaign which is basically wandering around the world map and killing everything that pops up.
