The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

hey do you have a record on xbox live for metal slug 3? just wondering if your the same jedah dohma.

im currently playing katamari damacy, fun relaxing game  also trying to learn alpha 3, hardest sf for me to get into. if i ever get the feeling i really need to load up some 3s, havent played that in a long time.

cant forget the fucking awesome battlefield 2!

I’m currently playing Curse of Monkey Island (Monkey Island 3). I’m also playing the original Splinter Cell on Xbox. WRAP!

I remember playing that game… it’s good but it’s hard as hell. Some of the puzzles solutions are insane… I had to look at an FAQ quite a few times. Good luck. I love the animation on that game though…

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath has excellent controls.

The rest of the game is awesome too— but the controls are the best I’ve ever played in this sort of game.

Currently addicted to Forza. I normally HATE driving sims, but this one is the shit. Once you start, you can’t stop playing, as simple as that. Being able to completely customize your car is awesome. My WRX STI is simply sick. God I love that game.

I also started playing Destroy All Humans, and man, is that game awesome. I love the classic 50’s theme going on in the game, and the dialog is hilarious. Definately another X-box must-own game.

Between UC2, Forza, and DAH, my Xbox has been putting in some overtime.

Currently learning the ropes of FFTactics. Man, for a casual RPG player such as myself, it can be maddening in a chess kind of way. Strategizing isn’t my strong suit.

yeah, Xbox has been on a roll lately. Destroy All Humans, UC2, Midway Arcade Treasures 2, Conker’s is out, and there’s still Phantom Dust which I haven’t picked up yet…AND I played some Halo 2 with a friend pretty much all last night. It’s too much good stuff…I don’t even have enough time to play all the games I have for it so far.

Halo 2 —heh, I can’t believe we were actually on a winning team on Collosus…normally I can’t stand that piece of shit map. It’s like fighting in the world’s largest mall with unnecessary structures all over the place…it’s way too big, it’s a hassle to even find people to kill, and it’s just boring. Plus, I have worse luck than usual there…but we actually won.

It’s the whole choosing certain classes, rather than certain characters thing that throws people off. Have fun spending as much time on the battlefield as you do on the status screen

Knight class sucks. Go Monk early on, then let your characters build from there.

Stationary skills that don’t require anything-- Monk’s chakra, for example, are awesome for building job points in weaker characters. Make monk their subclass, then have them stand around doing it.

i played FFT a long time ago and left out at chapter 4. I picked it up again, and it’s highly addictive.

I’ve got Ultima and Genji equipment…worthless

i’ve got these highly trained generics with almost every class mastered, but now in chapter 4 i’ve got those newbs and i’ve got start all over again. I’m almost done with Orlando and Agrias but i’ve got a long way to go with Meliadoul and Beowulf.

Is it me or is Ninja with Marial Arts stronger than anything else? I hear people talk about knights with two swords and it was lame too slow not enough power…

EDIT: WTF???!! I can’t start Cloud’s quest even though i bought the flower from Aeris. I think i need to get that stone (activate the machine built from mustadios’s dad) with the 2 circles with tails sign (Gemini?), but it looks like i don’t have it. Where do i get it?

I always just took the two-swords ability and put it on other stuff.

Ninja class sucks, that is the only good skill it has. I don’t want to throw my weapons away! And Knight is good with two swords since the stat hits on knight class strike twice. Awesome way to level is picking a map, buffing the knight, then smacking the shit out of the enemy’s speed until it drops to 1-- you’ll be doing -6 speed a turn. Then do the same for power, etc while using stationary skills for the rest of your party.

I really liked that game…

Up until the big plot twist. The twist itself is interesting, but afterwards Stranger doesn’t look as cool, and you no longer get to select bounties to hunt, you just play a linear set of levels with few bosses. And there is really no longer any reason to take enemies alive, removing a lot of the strategy. But the first three towns, where you go after bounties, is great fun. And Stranger looks like a badass.

Co-fucking-sign.

Unrelated-- for all you DBZ freaks.

  • Bandai will release the Nintendo DS fighting game Dragon Ball Z: Mukuregen for Nintendo DS in Japan this winter, the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors for GBA.

EDIT

Touhokudai Gaku Mirai Kagakugijutsu Kyoudoukenkyuu Center (NDS, Nintendo) - 34,000 / 187,000 units —

!!!

Just starting FFTA on a GBA Emu.

Never played this one, played FFT though.

Anything I should know before I start? Little secrets, info on special classes, etc.

If Atari knows what’s good for them, then they had better publish that sucker in America. I’m going to pick up a DS later on and I’d love to play that game.

Opened two games that were sitting in shrink wrap for months: Sword of Mana and Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament. YYH: DT isn’t a bad game but the controls for certain moves are just ridiculous with some seriously screwed up inputs and timing involved. I love how the game uses clips from the anime to tell the story and I’m a HUGE YYH fan. Heck, even the characters feel different from one another but those tricky controls… ugh. I’ll play it a bit more but this game has nothing on DBZ: Budokai 3.

As for Sword of Mana, the AI of my partner is… well she’s about as smart as a rock. She’s killed a few enemies, sure but on the whole, I’d like to reach through my TV screen and back hand her. But I can’t really say I hate the game. It has some sweet graphics and some good music and it is the prequel to one of my favorite video games of all-time: Secret of Mana. But I was hoping for more out of this game. Well it has only been 52 minutes in so I should probably play more of it.

 I feel your pain.

Does it stay like this until the end? I had all those stamina upgrades and whatnot.

The game now is just challenging-- but no interesting bosses or anything. And I think I missed the wasp power-up? I keep getting the ammo, but I can’t use it.

Yep. The whole rest of the game is like that. There are a few bosses, though. There are these floating ghostly things that are pretty nasty, and the final boss.

To use wasps, you have to be zoomed in with your binoculars. They’ll load automatically when you activate them. Wasps are like a sniper rifle.

I have binoculars?

Well it doens’t matter, since I quit. They fucked up an awesome thing.

If you bought them at a shop.

I understand. I still finished it, simply because I loved the first part, but I pretty much hated that last third. Especially the boat. Don’t even get me started on that damned boat.
